I'm trying to stay in the top 50 Wizard rankings in Greater Rifts at least for a while, but it gets harder and harder. I managed to clear G Rift 25 and was 3 seconds too slow to clear 26, but only because I died two times, so 26 and maybe 27 (with luck and good monster combinations in the Rift) should still be doable with my current gear.
The question is, what couldI still do to improve my character? My To-Do list at them moment is:
-Get a better RorG (Is it bugged? I got 3 rings and all 3 of them had the same attributes on them)
-Get Strongarm Bracers
-Get Serpent Sparker
-Get Witching hour or Andariels headpiece (I've got a mediocre Tal Rasha belt I could use instead of the helmet)
What would you do for higher rifts? Should I farm those items or should I get other items/sets?
I want to run a Mammoth Hydra build, but until I find a SS, do you think I should stick with meteors or already change to Hydra?
Also, I often read that people have to switch to a Two handed weapon (most want to switch to a furnace) because the Firebird bonus gets insane with it, and they also say that they need to go to town to switch. But why? you can't change weapons during greater rifts, even if you portal back to town, it still wont allow it. Is there a trick to change the weapon?
I hope you guys can help me and thank you for your time reading this.
I just now realized that the last thing I did was farming some normal Rifts with an alternated Build, sorry for that. I play with Mirror Images and Black Hole - Event Horizin instead of familiar and Energy Armor...
1.) I already got the FB Chest and will use it as soon as I got the Magefist. Even tough it feels like the Tal set does ridicolous dmg (I procc fire and Arcane, my companion proccs electricity), the +fire dmg is something I really want^^
2.1) Ok I'll keep an Eye open for those weapons
2.2) Thanks for the tipp, maybe I can get one of those weapons today
3) You're probably right, the normal mobs die within seconds and rift bosses aren't affected, so it would only add something for the elite and rare mobs, and those die fast enough too, so I will stick with those bracers for now
4.) Hmmm, I usually die from ranged attacks, the few times I get killed by actual melee attacks are situations in which I would take another 2-3 hits before I could escape, so I don't think that the dmg reduction is worth it over 500 stam?
5.) will reforge those when I'm home, I thought that stacking Hydra dmg would be worth it, but if the FB dot will be my main dmg source I really should reroll those stats =/
6.) I want to reroll the RorG CHD to a socket and use the Legendary gem that gives +20% dmg after an elite kill, but only when I reached the level 25 bonus (If it is even possible when I can only get to rift 26) But I will look into it again later, the one that does 2000% weapon dmg after an attack sounds pretty good too.
Build advice: As I said above, I play the rifts with Mirror Images, so thats something I will change anyways. The same goes for Energy Armor. In rifts I use Black Hole - Event Horizon because it saved me a dozen of times by removing walls, arcane orbs, toxic puddles etc, is the extra damage it worth if my main source for dmg output will be the setbonus? And when I use Black Hole as my primary Attack, wouldn't that mean that I would Attack once and then have to wait for the CD?
I will try the Blizzard - Apo skill, I used Archon mainly to burn down elites if they get too close and for higher resistance, so by using prismatic Armor I should still have more toughness than in Archon.
Generally, I'll try your tipps, even tough I don't think that I'll like to play without a filler (I started the season with "meh, I'll level to 70 and then maybe something, dunno" in mind and mostly wanted to have fun, but seeing how crazy my dropluck was I actually want to compete with others xD)
Thank you very much for your tipps, I'll check it out in ~2 hours and give some feedback afterwards

It was a bit strange to play without an filler, but it didn't take too long to adjust to it and now it's ok ^^
I cleared Rift 27 without even breaking a sweat, so yeah, this build is AWESOME
The only downside seems to be rather low single target dps while killing the rift guardian...
I recorded my run and will upload it, maybe you can see if I do anything wrong?
