Hi guys, right after patch I found new Maximus, but instead of giving it to my Enchantress, I was thinking how to use this weapon. Some players still think the perfect weapon must have socket, sh*tload of CC, CH. This isnt my case, I work more with affixes and toughness in general. My wizard is missing lot of cool legendaries and I need more +fire dmg affixes. But otherwise I like this build and I am sure some of you will like it too.
Paragon points: Core: Movement speed (if you have MS on gear you can use Vitality or Maximum Arcane Power) Offense: Critical Hit Chance (or Critical Hit Damage, depends on what you are missing) Defense:Life (sometimes another Armor or Resist All can be better) Utility:Life on Hit (or Resource Cost Reduction)
Gear: Maximus - for +fire dmg and Demon Slave, which can tank for you, also chain dmg is insane (there is one sword, with +fire dmg affix, but for solo play I like Maximus more, because of his Demon Slave affix) +fire dmg gear - it simply raise your fire damage (atm I have 34%) Arcane Power on Crit - more APoC = more meteors CC/CH - more of this = more crits and bigger dmg from crits Vitality/All Resist/Life on Hit/Armor - you need good toughness, because you are fighting in melee range
Follower: Scoundrel - good CC boost, slows, Dots, you can use Buriza-Do Kyanon with amulet for more slowing and freezing Enchantress - good with another Maximus, 2x Demon Slave on the field can be really cool, charm is useful while fighting elites Templar - healing, stuns and taunts, also Arcane Power regeneration is really good in this case
Passive skills: Blur - gives you good damage reduction, as mentioned before you are fighting in melee range Conflagration - nice passive giving you more chance to crit
*your choice* - depends on the last skill in build and its your choice what skill suits best for you
(some examples: I am using Frost Nova so good passive for that is Cold Blooded for more dmg; I am using Mirror Image so good passive is Illusionist... etc)
Primary skills: Spectral Blade (Flame Blades) - more hits you make before using Meteor or Explosive Blast, more dmg you deal. You should maintain around 10 stacks at anytime. Meteor (Meteor Shower) - good AoE, it can hit whole area. good chance to hit enemy with all 7 meteors, it has no cooldown Explosive Blast (Short Fuse) - used on cooldown, can be used defensively, controlled by you - no time dependent(Chain Reaction is good alternative but you cant control it, when you need to hit enemies immediately) Magic Weapon (Ignite) - dmg boost + DoT, synergy with Conflagration passive Energy Armor (Prismatic Armor) - armor/resist boost, it lowers your Arcane Power, but with right gear and high APoC its not problem(you can use Energy Tap if your resists are high enough)
*your choice* recommending to use one of this defensive skills - Frost Nova, Teleport, Mirror Image
Your choice: You can see I used *your choice* in passive and primary skills. Yes, there can be any skill. If you are preffering Familiar for more dmg and Arcane regeneration or Hydra, then why not? Same for passive do you need more dmg, go for Glass Cannon or if you want more survivability use Dominance. I will list some cool skills and passives for this build.
Mirror Image (Duplicates) - good defence skill if you need escape or prepare for strike, taunt for 1 sec is nice (should be 2 sec at least) Hydra (Mammoth Hydra) - more more fire dmg, good for fights with elites otherwise not worth, if you are cleaning white mobs so fast Teleport (Safe Passage) - dmg reduction and you can escape from dangerous situations; this skill got more useful runes: Wormhole - faster travel; Fracture - clones everywhere; Calamity - dmg and stun. Diamond Skin (Prism) - lower cost of your skills, so you can spam Meteor Shower; Crystal Shell - bigger dmg absorption Frost Nova (Shatter) - if you are fast enough you can chain this; Bone Chill - more dmg; Deep Freeze - more CC for you, but you must hit 5 enemies Energy Twister (Gale Force) - enemies will take more fire dmg, (didnt find it useful, twister sometimes dont hit also if you are spamming meteor, there isnt simply time to use this)
Power Hungry - free meteor = good meteor, can work with health globe affixes legendaries Dominance - good for white mobs, useless on elites Unstable Anomaly - your life saver Glass Cannon - more dmg, less resists Arcane Domino - lets stack Blades and unleash Meteor or Explosive Blast Astral Presence / Prodigy - more arcane power regeneration / more APoC
Cold Blooded - worsk with Frost Nova, more dmg to chilled/frozen enemies Illusionist - another life saver, works with Teleport, Mirror Image
I tried this build a couple days ago and it's pretty fun. I didn't really know what was best, but I just picked all skills/runes/passives that had anything to with fire. I think I was using Diamond Skin and Frost Nova as the opener, then Explosive Blast followed by 1-2 Meteor casts with Flame Blade filler. Stuff seemed to die really fast and my gear isn't the best, either. Good stuff.
I'm really enjoying the (apparent) increased flexibility we have. You can spec pretty much any way you want and get half decent performance without taking time to really optimize. If you follow up with optimization, it just gets better.
I run spectral blades with the defensive rune and meteor shower as my main skills. Then I run Defensive teleport, sparkflint familiar, Enduring Diamond skin and prism Energy shield as my secondary skills. I run Glass Cannon, Dominance, and Galvanizing Ward.. I have a 2.65 attacks per second AS. And am currently at 215k dps buffed, 158k dps unbuffed. Crit chance at 34% and crit hit at 190%. Things just simply die...And my friend said a melee whiz was a bad idea.... <:section><:section>Although thinking about switching Dominance for something else and possibly switching my spectral blades rune to fire rune. Still tinkering.
