This is a work in progress. Seems like a lot of people nowadays are more focused on building around Meteor and Arcane Orb, so I decided to see what I could come up with using Energy Twister.
By the way, I don't really see a reason for running high Torment levels other than the experience gain. I personally prefer Torment III or IV. Kill times on average with my gear ranged from 30 seconds to a minute or so per elite pack (excluding naturally fat mobs or those with Extra Health).
Spam ET, cast SB when you need resources. Spam Calamity (using Illusionist) to stun and reposition. Sparkflint boosts damage. Electrify works well with ET. Force Armor to withstand burst damage. Temporal Flux to snare. Blur for added defense.
Have you tried energy twister + Mirror image? and have some area damage. You can let the mirror image kill all the withe monsters for you and you just stand there and watch.

Not on Torment VI. Mirror Images only deal 10% damage and normally do not spam the spells like players do. If I crit for 1 million damage via Raging Storm (or 2M for fused ones), images can launch ETs that deal 100-120K at best (if they can crit at all, which I doubt). Not really going to cut it against elites with 70-120M+ HP. For lower difficulties, perhaps. But again, they don't spam the spells.
Thanks for posting! I tried that build earlier, and it indeed deals a great amount of damage, but I like more "direct damage" spells; the randomness of Twister or the delay of Meteor are just killing me. But it's an awesome damage output, once my EHP is better I might revisit this for higher difficulty levels.
One thing I wanted to ask you... could you post your awesome "how to create a build" guide here as well? It should replace all the old stickied guides (who are now outdated and can be un-stickied).
I'm using these two now ( energy twister and mirror image). The twisters are everywhere. I'm not using raging storm rune, though. I'm using Gale Force rune, it gives 15% more fire damage. The images themselves are not doing a lot damage, that's true. But they make the twisters travel all over the screen. And with slow time (time wrap rune), the mirror image technically give you 25% damage boots up if you're using fire skill. If you have enough cooldown reduction, it'll works perfect.
and I think energy twister isn't very good at killing elites pack. But we probably won't have enough AP to cast two skill in the same time. Here is the part 15s cooldown meteor kicks in. It deals great damage and don't need too much AP.
This is what I thought about energy twister build, but I never test it on high torment difficulty. ( work perfectly on T1 ) Maybe you can test it out?
I really think people are missing the point of the video and this thread.
This is an Energy Twister build. Not Meteor. Not Ray of Frost. If I wanted to discuss Meteors, I would have made a thread about Meteor. Same with the previously mentioned Sleet Storm.
Yes, I know Meteor has its perks. If you can find a Cindercoat, you can start Meteor Shower spam. You can run Meteor Shower with Gale Force or Flame Blades to ramp up the fire damage. You can run a Temporal Flux based Star Pact build. You can run Spectral Blades with Comet to form a tidy pseudo-spam freeze build.
Yes, Sleet Storm is great. I have quite the experience with the build since the summer of 2013 (touched upon initially in Feb. 2013). Geared around it. It's awesome. In the past couple of days of testing, it works wonders with Icicle and even supplementary damage from Explosive Blast. Some even mix it up with Archon to run against tougher elite packs.
Great vid! I'm sure the community would love to see your takes on meteor and arcane orb as well. I personally would love to see an electric build myself

I'm really enjoying Disintegrate; I would guess it's pretty comparable to Frozen Orb.You don't have the freezing though. You slow instead. And I can pretty much spam Disintegrate all day instead of a handful of orbs.
I'm running this same build now, picked up a Black Weapon with lifesteal and lost about 30k dps but I have it sustainable @ 200k dmg / 1mil tough buffed in T4... hoping for some better drops to really ramp up the damage, as it is I can stand toe to toe in T6 but its not quick and I can't kill most rares easily.
I will say, whatever difficulty you have this build capable of playing, standing in the midst of a huge pack as a Wizard, constantly teleporting and with sustained Twisters, its a lot of fun. I can stand on 2-3 layers of any mechanic, and the only things that really hurt are Frozen, Arcane Enchanted (both more "avoidable, even for a melee build) and big melee swings back to back.
I do Conflag for the group buff and dot damage (for mobs that get away) and Prodigy for more consistent ET usage when mob density is lower. I really like using Arc Lightning over either Forked Lightning or Thrown Blades. Sub Blur/Paralysis/Temporal Flux for anything except Illusionist, and swap to either Electrify (more AoE) or Conduit (can be nice because sometimes knockback will interrupt certain actions).
