While waiting for the most expected movie of this year, The Archon Guide by Jaetch, I'm messing/experimenting/having fun with some different builds like Sleet Storm, and today, inspired by my small golden balance I thought:
What if I:
1) Must be a melee wizard;
2) Only have about 5 million gold;
3) Can buy only attack-speed (no critical chance, no trifectas, no etc...) oriented gear;
Unbuffed:
About 160k DPS with Spectral Blades;
3.7k Armor;
600 All Resistance;
243k EHP, with 84% mitigation;
2.5 attacks per second;
5% life steal (from healing blades)
Fully buffed:
About 222k DPS with Spectral Blades;
5k armor;
760 All Resistance;
336k EHP, with 88.7% mitigation;
2.5 attacks per second;
5% life steal (from healing blades)
Both using a Stone of Jordan with 25% bonus agains elites.
Right now, he is capable of doing MP4~5 without dying and killing with a certain speed. This is unfinished "lunch time" work, but it's a start.
What do you guys think ? What could be done to improve this melee Wiz ?
Remember: This is a small-budget out-of-the-box melee wiz thinking, not oriented for efficiency, but for fun.
Looks like its on its way. Have you considered getting an Oculus, Chant Force or Tal source for the +% damage to Spectral Blades? They also provide vitality. Not sure what kind of stats you can get that won't cost you as much DPS as a Trium.
By the way, I got confused because I thought you had a Tal ammy, when you meant Tal Rasha's Relentless Pursuit (not Allegiance). You can try getting a cold Tal ammy. If it's cold damage, you can probably remove Frost Nova as your cold source and switch to something like Diamond Skin (or add Mirror Image and become a ninja wizard since you already have Teleport and Illusionist :D).
As for Fragment of Destiny, I'm actually not 100% sure if changing your Spec Blades into certain elements will allow the game to consider it a "cold skill" or a "fire skill." In addition, Fragment of Destiny is an arcane weapon. You might want to do some testing, especially with cold, because I'm not sure that your Spec Blades will be altered by elements in this case. It may just be arcane damage.
Try using the aforementioned cold Tal ammy. Or switch to a cold SoJ. Attack with Spec Blades and see if enemies get slowed down. If so, you should be okay (but again I'm not sure Fragment of Destiny's skill bonuses will apply). If no snare, then no cold effects carry over, which would be safe to assume no fire effects carry over as well, making Cold Blooded and Conflagration relatively useless.

Not yet. I'm assuming the Spectral Blades are dealing Fire and Lightining Damage from the Triumvirate and thus gaining a 15%/16% boost each from the , but I'm not good with this math.
I do have a Tal Source with +Spectral Blades damage, and I can run some tests against Ghom, though.

This is actually cool (no pun intended)! A Cold Tal Ammy or an Cold SoJ could add the "missing element" to add from the 17% boost from the wand. I'm just having a really hard time trying to find a buyable cold one.

This is where we need Loroese's math-magic. I'm betting all in this build on the Fragment of Destiny's (FoD) elemental boosts + spectral blades damage. I'm not sure that this works, though, because I'm not a good number-cruncher. Heck, I'm no number-cruncher at all.

That's the whole point: If FoD adds the elemental damage boosts, and they're hidden boosts, than this will work as a charm.
