So, I have seen a lot of wizards(myself included) running around with 1 handers with very fast attack speed and using magic missile (usualy seeker) as their primary. Given that, does arcane dynamo become a possibility for a DPS boosting passive? Just spitballing, I was in act 2 inferno and i found that i got 5 stacks very very quickly with a MM Blizzard Hydra or MM AO Hydra build. With the procs you can thrown down a more powerful Hydra(anyone know the math about how much you boost the hydra with dynamo?) or a Blizzard or AO that packs significantly more punch. Since we spend a lot of time kiting and shooting missiles while waiting for AP regen, this could be a very attractive passive, given the semi-lackluster nature of some of our other passives.
What do you guys think? Or does someone know somethign I don't about why arcane dynamo isn't so great?
(for reference I am in the middle of Act 2 Inferno, 24 dps 23k hp 260-300 resists and 69% reduction from armor(running with a shield))
Personally kiting with arcane flux, filling up one passive slot. Second is filled by the 20 max AP and 2 per second and the third by glass cannon. Depending on spec the slow is required and I doubt arcane dynamo outdamages glass canon. And due to low gear I personally find my AP regen lacking a bit with the presence.
The point that I'm trying to make is: Sure it's a nice passive, but can it really outperform our other options?
Another semi-related question: I personally dislike builds without signature spells, but I found that using a wand which you can use when out of AP can function as "signature spell" leaving a slot open for e.g. a familiar.
Arcane dynamo definitely will scale with attack speed. I was getting 5 stacks every 3 seconds or so. Re: glass cannon, it probably is not quite the same damage increase, but a 75% weapon damage increase is substantial. Would work best with real big hitting AP spells like AO with the celestial orb rune or Venom Hydra. It will take some theorycrafting to determine how much weapon % is added to venom hydra, as 75% would be insanely overpowered.
Since it seems a lot of wizard are going all out damage with low HP, it might be strong to use Arcane Dynamo in conjunction with Glass Cannon, with Temporal flux or Astral Presence.
I'm not sure if it will be worth it for people using 2 handers, as you will gain charges very very slowly, although the 75%weapon damage will hit hat much harder.

With the +28 AP from my wand and offhand, and 9 AP on crit I have ditched Astral Presence for Arcane Dynamo. I just got the gear so I haven't done enough runs to sufficiently test the build, but it feels like I'm doing a lot more damage. With the right gear I think this can be a very viable build.
Does it work for the full duration that u can cast the spell (i.e. until you run out of AP)?
And what about Archon form? does the act of changing to Archon consume the buff off would it work the the archon beam?
I'll test this when I have time but maybe someone knows already?

It does... Try your Hydra with and without the 75% buff. The damage is significantly higher.
Also, some of you guys might get Arcane Dynamo wrong. It is not adding 75% weapon damage to a non-signature spell. Read carefully...
"... your next non-Signature spell deals 75% additional damage."
This means that it adds 13,5% weapon damage to the base 18% weapon damage of the Venom Hydra!

Yes it does...
