really nice? Just watched the Class Spotlight - The Wizard video and I really like the idea of having a 2-3 "Blizzard" spells up dealing constant damage to a large area while you deal more damage with other spells. Have to admit before the video I didn't quite grasp how big of an area it effected.
Something like this could work really well. Throw up a few "Blizzard" spells then fire away with "Ray of Frost". You have 2 really nice defensive skills one of which don't cost any Arcane Power and "Archon" can be used on the offensive or for defence.
Cold Blooded could easily be swaped out for another passive that suits your play style, "Power Hungry" or "Evocation" being what I would consider replacing it with.
Think its a skill I will do some testing with for sure.
Really really nice build. I hadn't thought of that rune on Ray of Frost combined with cold blooded or Blizzard could be that viable, but you've changed my mind.
I've bookmarked it and tweaked it a bit to match my playstyle.. hows about this? :
Frost Nova swapped for Ice Armor (Chilling Aura). This gives a slow to anyone getting near me and also sets them up nicely for +Blizzard damage from Cold Blooded
Teleport swapped for Slow TIme (Time Warp) - this gives another +20% damage on top of the cold blooded passive. Should allow Blizzard and all of the cold patches to rain death upon anyone
Archon swapped for Mirror Image (Mirror Mimics) - this allows the decoys to also cast Blizzard/Ray of Frost
Passive Skills
Glass Cannon swapped for Prodigy - double dips with the Electrocute rune for some insane AP regen. This allows more Blizzard spam, and I don't like the thought of Glass Cannon very much on the higher difficulties
Astral Presence swapped for Galvanizing Ward - the "chilling" aura lasts longer and gives me life regen.
I'm really excited by this build, it may be the first one I work up to.
Yeah it's by far my favorite spell, I am going to be trying a Blizz-Hydra build. However, I think the spell visually looks a bit underwhelming, looked WAY better in D2.

AoE Dps seems rather low...

One is never hurt by being given additional choices, only by taking them away. A QUADRILLION MAGIC FIND is worthless if you can't kill shit!
did you read the part about blizz not stacking if you cast another?
yeah thats kind of a turn off... I mean I thought it would be nice to spam blizzards snowbounded(maybe even diamond skin prismed), but whats the point if they dont stack right?
I think RoF would be better utilized in PvP since it only slows the first target you hit. I think taking Disintegrate (gatta think of a short form for Disintegrate) with Volatility rune is perfect for PvE! It also hits anything in that line of fire which RoF does not (the beam ends when it hits and enemy). It sucks because I really like RoF and would like to use it more but I'll have to stick to using it in PvP.
the problem that I see with skills like disintegrate is that you have to stand still while using it, which might be a problem in the higher difficulties dont you guys agree?

You have to stand in place to throw out any spell. The only real difference is that something like Meteor would require you to stutter step far less, as you wouldn't have the AP to spam it.
However, the wizard has a lot of good defensive moves that can allow her to remain stationary for the most part,
Frost Nova
Force Wave
Warp Time
Slows
Etc...

You could easily swap "Disintergrate" into this build if you wanted but "Ray of Frost" does more damage and the rune effect has a 100% chance unlike the 35% from Volatility. Also the 8 yards from Volatility is not big at all & Ray of Frost does have a slow effect.
I think choosing either of the two skills won't make that much of a difference.

The damage doesn't stack, but the duration does. If you cast Blizzard, wait, 3 seconds, then cast Blizzard again, you can get 105% more damage in that area becuase the new cast will last 3 more seconds. And 315% over 9 seconds is nothing to scoff at. You just have to watch your timing so you aren't spamming the spell.

if u wait 6 seconds, then cast blizzard again, itll be 420 damage over 12 seconds... either way it will still be 210% damage over 6 seconds.... I dont get your point.

Ofcourse, but you can still throw 2-3 of them up and cover a massive area.
