Considering you had such a hard time killing 1 elite mob, I wouldn't say this build is working.
Hard time? Well ok if you think so. Granted they did nerf Cloud of Bats you're not gonna see crazy insane damage anymore but it still is very good. I guess you could go kite build or spam bears if you want, I don't like those builds this is what I roll with and works great for me. Also many others seem to enjoy it. Elites can be a pain in the ass.
Patch 2.01 in case you haven't noticed, elites are MORE responsive now. They will move when you hit them alot, and there are more afix combinations possible now etc. So everyone needs to adjust their play styles. Thats just the way it is. Again, only a moron would stand on top of a lazer beam. Not sure what you are referring too the elites seems to die fairly quickly.
No one died. And it was easy. you're point is? I don't get it.
1. use pestilence to dot mobs, moving contantly and gathering them up
2. when you have enough (more than 5) then use Spirt work OR soul harvest then
3. start channeling cloud of bats and as mobs move into the fire they die
4. your slow attack weapon and 2000 life on hit/armor/life/AR should allow you to keep yourself alive, while doing so
5. for elite packs with knockback or annoying CC use Mass Confusion
6. for really difficult moments (multiple packs or packs with 2 or more CC) face tank them using Spirit Walk
7. do not get stuck on small groups of 1 or 2, you want very large groups when you can, this is what makes the build 'fun'
8. the passives Spirt Vessel and Grave Injustice are vital but jungle fortitude could be anything, gruesome feast for example and with pickup radius you should get alot of buffs
9. I good tactic is to use Spirit walk to 'dive into' mobs, then use Soul Harvest and immediately get buffed up then sit there and channel directly on mobs - in time you will become very good at it
10. Because of the passives used, Spirit Walk will be up very often so learn to use it defensively and also offensive - LEARN TO BE AGRESSIVE WITH THIS BUILD do not be a ninny, that is the point. It is a face-tanking build.
Hope this helps those that didn't watch my videos but please DO go and check it out at least maybe like, comment or even subscribe to my channel. It all helps and I will be posting stuff there on a weekly basis.
I will also be doing a Reaper of Souls giveaway on my youtube channel, how this is going to be done I am not sure yet but I am thinking of some ideas.
Prices have gone up by quite a bit though there are still Skorn's available to get this build working.
Someone asked me why bother? Because if you gear up you will be fine to at least lvl 65 giving you ahead start in the expansion. Granted this could be less or more depending upon how your drops go.
Sure everything will get upgraded but a well geared toon won't see instant results unless something lucky drops. It very well might, or it might not.
The players are coming back, check the xfire numbers D3 has gone from #20 on the list to #4:
I would use cloud of bats, the damage is fine. My issue is the artwork/graphics. They did such a half assed job with the animation of Cloud of Bats that I find it unusable. Same thing with Rain of Toads. The frogs on the ground look awesome, but as they are falling it is just blurry green pixels and it looks completely ridiculous. I don't know how Blizzard doesn't realize this TBH. Some of the animations are just very poor and hopefully are reworked soon.
last day to get this build working again 'new and returning players' as the AH is closing tomorrow, permanently. Also sell your shit if you need to bank gold for ROS expansion.
You do not need to really but it couldn't hurt, then again everyone is probably either selling out or buying last gear for prep so have fun with that.
Anyone that thinks gearing up is NOT necessary is a fool, the expansion will be tough going without decent gear so you want to make that process as smooth as possible. It has already been stated by others that a well geared toon won't find upgrades or game changing legendaries until about mid-way through, so lvl 65ish. You could get lucky of course, or not.
I will be giving away 1 copy of the ROS expansion in my youtube so make sure you visit there and SUBCRIBE and also COMMENT/LIKE my videos so you can be added to the draw which will happen on March 24, 2014.
Good luck! And also Happy Irish Day fellow Irishpeoples!

Yea I hardly pay attention to stuff like that, maybe turn on high spell effectis. Its hard enough seeing what is happening really with a full screen of crap but everyone is different. As long as stuff dies...
With good fire/poison dmg bonuses, you can still pwn with cloud of bats, and they will tick non-crit for over 1 mill easily. Even if you have sub 100k-"dps"
So yes it works, and easily cleans up t3/t4 elitepacks in 10 secs.
The mobility is bad though, so for anything else than stationary boss farmin, Mira/Daltryn/Diablo/Belial etc. i would use another spec with acid raid/zombie bears and maybe some good dart bonuses.
Indeed. Working with a frosty wiz or a monk that can pull shit inwards where you can stand on top of stuff is good and OP. Fast moving monsters are the bain of this build. Always have been. Every build has issues. Usually if I get a fast moving elite pack if they are really annoying I will just leave them.
So I have resurected the Witch Doctor Call of Bats (COB) build by making some changes. I have posted 2 videos which should explain everything:
Pt 1: Explains changes in 2.01, gear and skills, paragon Link:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MzrzRjPVrxU
Pt 2: Weeping Hollow solo run, torment 2 gameplay w/ commentaryLink:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p4lZ9ZSWpPk
Feel free to drop by my livestream at www.twitch.tv/richiet. Hope these videos help other witch doctors out there!
Thanks!
Get the build 'working' then you can play around with it. Always my sage advice.
Thanks for watching!
