I recently purchased a new monitor to acoompany my new tower I had built. The native res of the monitor is 1920x1080 and has the option for HD. But I always thought it was your tower that had to be HD compatible then you changed the normal monitor cable over for a HDMI cable providing your tower could support HD. Therefore giving you HD.
The question here is, how can I find out if my tower supports HD without having to go out and buy a HDMI cable only to find it doesn't support HD. Because I would like to run Diablo III in HD when it's released.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. And I also apologise if this didn't require an entire thread, I'm just a bit unsure.
Okay Your tower doesn't dictate if you can play HD games or anything your Graphics processor does. If you don't have a Dedicated Graphics Processing unit (GPU) then you have an onboard one. Almost all onboard and dedicated GPU's support HD resolutions these days. The onboard ones though will slow down significantly if you try to max D3 out with 1080p. So If you bought this computer recently it most likely has an onboard GPU that will support HD and all you need to do is plug in a DVI wire or HDMI, Right-Click the desktop go to screen resolution and set it to 1920x1080. If this is not an option then for some reason your onboard GPU doesn't support HD resolutions in which case you will need to buy a dedicated GPU, which can run you from about 50-700 dollars depending on the power you want from it.
