All you that think we should openly discuss cheating.
How does it help you in anyway besides giving you more knowlege of cheating?
which in my mind we should be reducing knowlege of it.The fewer people that know about it less it will happen.
There is a channel for reporting these issues nonpublicly.
Thats why blizzard locks deletes threads in the offical forums discussing exploits and hacks.
To reduce the spread!
I think diablofans should be a little more responsible and take the same stance as blizzard.
And btw I'm not bashing diablofans.com. Much love, I come here daily for all my d3 news.
Molster already told the official stance on this early today in this thread. Apprently general discussion - news type comments that discuss the state of cheats and hacks in the game are permitted - while specifics on actually how to cheat or where to go to find out how are not allowed. Do you take issue with that stance? Because it seams reasonable to me.
Knowing that someone is trying to build a bot for Diablo 3 is very serious and completely legitimate news that effects the game's economy and cooperative aspects. If there are going to be bots joining your public games, do you want to know about it and expect it? Because I do.
and the discussion goes round and round,
time to put on my suit and start silencing these intruders of illogical meaning.

I remember the post made, a majority of who posted were in favour of seeing the bots (which weren't even complete) removed any ways. And the OP also had some pretty cool mods that would have been nice to see in the actual game itself.
Like people have said, its all discussion. Just because one post goes down relating to the botting subject does not make DFans a hacking/botting forum....
I just wish people didn't have the desire to destory the enjoyment for everyone else, which is whats going to happen. I'm just going to do my part and not using any hacks or bots or try to exploit like I did D2, I'm not out to ruin the game for myself and others.
that they are allowing discussion of bots hacks and cheats on these forums.
It serves no purpose but to proliferate the number of cheaters.
All these threads should be locked deleted and the posters should be banned.
I hate botters and hackers just as much. But unless we are giving out infos on how to download and run, or how to make your own ect I see zero problem with it. It's going to happen anyway, and if anything turn this around and report whatever website or hacker you find to Blizzard if you want. But calling for the ban because someone talked about it is a little ridiculous. It's not like they won't exist if everyone takes a vow of silence.
I think it's going to be very hard to make a sucessful bot for D3. Without near unlimited potions, and with content in inferno difficult enough that you have to really think about positioning, targetig and timing, I think it's goig to be very ard to build something to automatically beat those encounters. Building something that will try isn't hard. Buildign something that will have enough success to be worthwhile is a whole other thing.
Lol, that would be a nice way to piss of their userbase at least.
Don't forget, Blizzard actually loves botters and cheaters. They make tons of money from all the cd keys they have to buy. They want us to think that they are terrible, and in some sense they are, but the bottom line is that Blizzard makes millions of dollars from them.
Their warden software is deliberately ineffective anti-cheating system and is only in place to gather a ton of personal information, with the goal of making more money by understanding their users better.

In this particular game you have the RMAH too. Blizzard's cut is based on a flat fee instead of a percentage I think. So a busy economy with a high volume of sells, actually makes them more money than items staying more rare and moving in slower volume because of high prices. Some ammount of market saturation for things like gems, gold, crafting/craft training items could be beneficial for Blizzard. I was thinking about that a few weeks ago.
I hope they will crack down on bottign and try to make sure it doesn't happen, but the incentive is there to look the other way, or at least subtly try to control how much of it happens.
Imagining your more scholorly posts in the voice of Ernest is highly amusing.
No but I could back my claim up if you wanna look like a bigger moron?
Sure, because that "theory" is one of the dumbest things I've heard in a long time, and the same thing has been said again and again by someone displeased with the cheating situation in every game ever made. The truth is that detecting bots is HARD - every false positive will be a legitimate gamer you piss off, and just because someone won't talk to you while they are farming the same spot for hours on end doesn't mean they are bots, you need to programatically detect what is going on on the other end, and even when you DO manage to detect a specific attack vector, you always delay bans by a significant period of time from detection so that there's always a huge uncertainty about what exactly was detected and when. There is also significant effort to ban the accounts that "collect" from bots instead of the bots themselves - when a bot is detected, it's far more effective to watch someone bot up a million gold and then ban the account with all those ill-gotten gains in it instead of just playing whack-a-mole with bot accounts.
If you think it's good business sense to let legitimate players suffer on the behalf of botters then I hope you'll never run a triple-A MMO studio.
There is a major difference between discussing or showing how it is done.
If they provide a link to a botting program then actions can be taken, but discussing the repercussions of botting isn't all that bad.
That really is the bottom line... it's one thing to talk about a terrorist attack that has happened, it's another to talk about how to go about planning such an attack, and the possibilities of doing so... all they are doing is discussing the impact of botting, nothing about how to bot, where it's possible, and how to do it... nothing wrong with that.
What has this thread turned into? lol...It's ran it's course I think.
