As you may of noticed theres an excessive amount of bots lately, and although pictures of women with bottles of champagne in their anus's is very entertaining. I was wandering if there were any plans to cut down the amount of bots that are spamming the forums
Like a new member cant create threads until post count = +10. That would kill two birds with one stone because all of those one post wonders wouldn't be able to make their lousy introduction threads
Is it possible to programme "vBulletin® Version 3.6.10" do this?
I know theres been lots of these types of threads but it seems like no good solution has been implemented. I would of made a poll but its not my or any other ordinary members decision and I really cant see any of the Diablofans.com members voting for the " I want more bots " option
I can imagine that the mods\admins get sick of deleting the botspam threads too
I hope something gets changed?
The restriction of posting URLs and Images to say the 10 post is doable, at least that is my understanding of vbulletin, as other sites that use it have that.
The problem is, and some of you may well have guessed it, is, Largely inactive admins. While I myself do infact hold the rank of admin, in truth, I am nothing more than a glorified Moderator, I do not do any modifications to the site itself. That is Umaro's or Mockery's domain. Unless it is visual, then it is Jetrall's field of expertise.

LOL hahahah qft m8 thats a great idea. ahhh those girls with their bottles...
Hopefully Umaro/Mockery see this thread then before its too late
The bot posts are steadily increasing in disgustingness
I agree, is there even a report post button? like there is on the JSP forums?
I see them alot, and having a feature like that would help the mods, trying to moderate the forums, say if x thread has already been reported it cant be reported again.
Just need something to stop all that stupid spam...

As some of you have noticed, the "Report Post" button has gone missing. We do not know where it went, but that is something we'd like to have back as fast as possible.
PlugY for Diablo II allows you to reset skills and stats, transfer items between characters in singleplayer, obtain all ladder runewords and do all Uberquests while offline. It is the only way to do all of the above. Please use it.

Tell me about it. One I deleted awhile ago featured a woman inserting large pieces of fruit into her ass, stretching it beyond what I thought was the breaking point. But Elfen is right, the mods can delete these threads all the want. But if you're looking for a more permanent solution, you gotta get the attention of the admins. This I've tried doing extensively in the past few weeks but to no avail. Umaro pretty much ignores me.
Hmm, one thing I'd like to add is that if we don't get around to deleting the thread quickly enough, could the rest of you at least not post in that thread? Inevitably the thread will get deleted. You're only wasting your own time by posting in it and making the thread go back on the top of the homepage, increasing other members' exposure to it.
Ive noticed it too. I clicked on one the other day that featured some pretty amazing insertions. I just dont understand how that is enjoyable to anyone. I mean, the woman's ass hole was literally the size of a golf ball hole. I just dont get it. And why spam that kind of stuff on this type of forum.
Isn't there some way of better moderating account creation? I can't remember if this site requires it, but I think things like image code verifications and e-mail verifications could help cut down on this type of stuff.

Believe me, we've been through it, and although I'm not an expert mself, from what I understand bots can easily circumvent those checks today. We have a couple of ideas of how to deal with it, but we need admin contact for them to carry through.

It may be true that bots can circumvent certain measures against them, I believe we do not even use those basic measures. Even if we prevented 1/4 of the bots registering and creating threads, that would be quite an improvement. So I don't think the excuse of, "Well, today's bot can bypass that anyway" excuse really works for me.

Maybe you should consider deleting pointless and utterly stupid real threads. Their number have arisen lately as well oO
While i find the bot links to lead to some very interesting pictures from a scientific standpoint, perhaps deleting them isn't the best idea. If by deleting them you accelerate their appearance rate, it might be a good idea to make a spam section where one couldn't view them and leave them there.
And how many appear on a daily basis? Five, ten? Why is it so difficult to delete them?

The Barbarian is from Arreat, a very cold snowy mountain top, but they are much tougher than normal humans, so they don't need warmth.

Where are Barbarians originally from? Sumeria, or more specifically Mesopotamia, AKA Europe. Think the Alps and the Pyrenees

More often than not, links the bots give contain viruses.
If it is a porn bot, which it seems most are, leaving them there is not an option as it violates Forum Policy, No posting of pornographic images. We have young users here, not just adults.
Deleting bots, to the best of my knowledge has no impact on their frequency. They are a program. A program that creates x amount of threads and or posts. It is dictated by the number the creator sets, not the number moderators delete.

That is generally what the spam section is for. It meant to contain random, non sensical and often pointless gibberjabber.
Although if you log out and click "Register", you will find that we do have image verification on this site
Supposedly, I've heard that's one of the simplest things for bots to bypass. Handlebar mustache smiley.
Yes. It's not that great of a fail-safe.
We would be better off restricting the posting of URLs and IMGs to the tenth post. Bots don't tend to make much more than 5 posts before they become void.

Are you ever just like eating a bowl of cereal and then it occurs to you that you totally missed the point in an online conversation you were having the other day?

Again, you're just missing the point. It's not so much difficult to delete them as it is somewhat pointless.

Exactly. There are suppose to be in place fail-safes so they cannot be created in the first place. Click a check box open a drop down menu, select delete, hit the go button. It's practically that easy. The real issue here is we should have to do it.
Our main problem, is the people who install these fail-safes are inactive. So no one gets around to making sure they are there, thus we have to delete them ourselves.
