Well, I just want to ask that whoever does get the moderator position, he gets all the rights to edit, move, delete posts, edit topics, perhaps edit sections (e.g., move thread to spam section), and all banning and, most importantly, unbanning powers. And he is on the whole forum. He may have a target forum, but there may always be some spam in a section that he can delete anyway...
I feel alot of the people here have an inaccurate view of the qualities a moderator should have. I see some of you choosing friends, HUSBANDS, and dedicated members. It shouldn't be handed to the person who's liked because they give off a warming vibe.
Moderation is about managing the flow of the forum. Structuring it to appeal more to the masses. It requires someone who's comfortable criticizing and taking action.
Why would Muttonchops not make a great moderator? I can't comprehend that. Although cynical, his arguements are always logical. Find one of his posts where he strays from logic, and posts something completely incoherent?
There are several threads open about potential moderators. I know Siaynoq is the next in line, as he should be. In my opinion, its the people who take a more ballsy approach to the forum. The people you know would NOT passively handle things.

I personally have tremendous respect for Equinox. As stated in the other thread, I would love to see her as a mod. I'm not trying to get brownie points, it's just something I've concluded.
Thanks for reading, hopefully I didn't offend anyone.
I'd actually like Equinox as mod. She and I disagree on quite a bit, but she always has reason and quite a bit of substance to back up her opinions and comments. There are few that can make me think intensely before I post again so that I don't say something full of weaknesses that can be exploited by others, and Equinox has definately done so.
I've made it clear that the majority of my moderating would involve deleted the bot threads, mergins similar threads, and seldomly deleting spam posts.
Well of course if you were to offer the position to anyone and asked, "What would you do as moderator?" They are going to say
"Delete automated threads, merge similar threads, and delete spam posts."
It's really what you perceive as spam, or which posts you feel should be merged.
I got a silly idea which would be sort of fun. Having like a Presidential Race-Rip Off. Ask questions like, "Ok potential moderator #4, provide a link to a thread you feel needs moderated, and tell us how you would moderate it."
That's probably overly dramatic for a forum. It just randomly popped through my head.
Well the thing is, what I've mentioned there is the majority of what I plan to do. But that doesn't mean I'll also be dealing with flame wars, trolling, and giving the most serious offenders temporary bans. But I couldn't think of anyone right now that deserves a temporary ban so it just seems like I'm very unlikely to ever do that.
And even if all I did was delete the bot threads and merged similar threads or closed pointless threads, those things alone would really clean up the forums a lot.
It actually boggles my mind why this thread hasn't been closed. Ya know?
I think you skipped a "won't" somewhere in your sentence.
Well, everyone can delete spam, but not all people are good at seeing the start of a flame war which can often be very mild. That's the difference between a spam deleter and a moderator...
You're right. I did forget a won't. But as long as we understand each other nonetheless.
Eh, I really don't care if this thread gets closed or not. Like I said, until the appoint a new mod, I'm not going to be closely following forum etiquette that much, e.g. our coffee conversation.

Like, what about flaming? People flame all over the place here...
