Wizard - Wave of Force
Today, we would like to showcase the first looks at the Wizard's Wave of Force ability with all five runes. Disclaimer: Please keep in mind some effects or graphics may be missing or not be working correctly!
Poll Recap - What class will be on top for PvP?
Continuing with out recap of the polls we highlighted, we would like to show the results of the "What class will be on top for PvP" poll. Blizzard has already said that 'perfect' balance will not be a goal of theirs. However, this does not mean PvP will be completely broken and one class will be able to kill the other four classes. But which one will stay on top? The majority of the voters tend to think the massive AoE destruction of the Wizard will best the rest. However, the melee abilities of both the Monk and the Barbarian will also be able to hold their own. It is really the Demon Hunter and the Witch Doctor that most users think will just not be able to defeat the other classes.
Beta Screenshots
The ground lights up in our first screenshot of a Wizard surrounded by a hored of Ravenous Dead. Next, we have some Wizard and Wizard action fighting against the unique Lloigor the Crazed after refusing his one gold bribe. Concluding, lightning surrounds the Wizard in an after mass of destruction of electrified champions.
Curse Weekly Roundup
We all know Diablo is not the only game everyone out there is playing, especially considering the limited beta invites. So, we have this week's Curse Weekly Roundup to inform you guys on the happenings of some other games.

I would think that the wave of force would have a lot different animations even with all of this from the beta. Difference in color just makes it seem a bit lackluster considering how many wave animations you could put out there. IMO, I hope some of the animations on it are changed before release.

I don't always burn. But when I do, I use hellfire.
I wouldn't mind seeing that one in action against monsters. By the way, are all of the skill rune videos from the same person or are some of them made by different people?

yeah wave of force definetly seems like one of the more lackluster abilities. wish these videos would come out faster though, its fun to see the new effects

(this build was before D3 launched... looking back on it now - i had no idea what i was doing)
i'd rather see the wizard putting his arms slightly up then slamming them down through the air, but not actually going low enough to hit the ground or anything like that. that would just turn it into a barbarian style move.
Wave of Force isn't meant to be an impressive, kill it all spammable spell. It's utility.
The last rune that adds further knockback and smaller damaging waves seems like the best.
The stun may come in handy as well, but if it's highly reduced in higher difficulties, it won't be very good.
If you want the damage-kill version, just put in that gem. Looking here, it's almost 300% bonus damage. But honestly, I think the Wizard will have other options for kill spells.
I really don't get why people think D3 is D2. Spells are going to have cooldowns to help balance their effects. This is one of them.
Amen to that. She could REALLY use some lessons in broadcasting. Or just get a decent host instead.
On that note: Isn't it funny how EVERYONE suddenly has female casters for videogames? Curse does it here, LoL has it on their Summoner's Showcase, HoN has it in their Champion Spotlights and that's just to name a few.
What's your take on this trend? Are gaming sites and games trying to lure in their male ordiance by displaying a cute gamer female? Personally I don't particularly mind as long as they can deliver, but when I see one such as the curse one, I can't help feeling that they are sacrificing quality over *Sexyness* which in my eyes are bad.
Isn't it obvious? Sex sells, always has and always will. But I fully agree, she is a terrible broadcaster and doesn't even have the "sexyness" to make up for it.:P
OT: I don't find Wave of Force lackluster. It may not look as flashy, but looks very, very useful. It is also clear how you can use the runestones to turn it into a more defensive or offensive ability. I like it. I do wish they had added mobs to better demonstrate it in the video, though.

Wave of force is still listed as an offensive spell, not utility, eventhough I would agree that it is a really useful spell for other purposes than dealing damage. Depending on how the time of stun effects translate into PvP (be it 1:1, 1:2, etc), I really think the WoF with 5 sec stun will have its uses.
If you watch people playing beta with this ability; you wouldn't call it lackluster. It's pretty cool looking in action. Probably looks best on a female caster, though. A guy jumping during a spell cast just isn't too manly.
The wizard jumps during the casting of that spell, as if blizzard is laughing at you that you can't normally do it.

then let's actually see it in action, please
in some of the other videos mobs were spawned to show the effect
Someone is getting lazy

Yeah.. and curse that curse girl....
Also I'm no longer shower videos with monsters, they are way to glitchy and never showthe correct effect, so not using them anymore

Clearly you've never seen Dragonball Z
