I don't know about you guys, but the only reason that I ever leveled a character on Diablo 2 was so that I could PvP at end game. I don't think anyone had fun just spamming baal runs till 99 and then just stoping... PvP has always been Diablo's real end game.
Bingo. For anyone to make a claim and say PvP wasn't "real" in Diablo series, or that it wasn't "true" just shows how blind they are to the series.
Yes there are people that enjoy killing monsters, they enjoy grinding levels and gear. I have met quite a few on my many years of Diablo. However at least on US East, I found MANY MANY MANY MANY more who grinded gear and levels so they can trade so they can make PvP characters. It is basic gaming formula 101 here, when the content is so played out people find alternate ways to play. PvP is and always has been and always will be a huge part of the Diablo series whether Jay or you PvM heroes wanna accept it or not. I am also not dumb enough to try and say that PvP is end all be all way to play Diablo like most of you PvM heroes who seem threatened by PvP'ers.
Vlad, Get over yourself buddy.
In other threads you jump quickly to your own defence that your not a basher of PVM players, and that all you want is your precious hostility button and in game dueling back. Yet in this post you quickly turn on your PVM players bash button and start saying how much PVP is a huge part of the diablo series and us PVM heroes are threatened by the PVP'ers. And also, there's no need to get all teary because Jay Wilson didn't lean towards PVP implementation a bit more in Diablo III. Obviously the blizzard development team decided to stick to what Diablo III is truely about and in the same process give you PVP'ers who like the option to break away from the normal game for a bit of different fun, the ARENA.
Furthermore, "people who say PVP wasn't real in the diablo series, truely shows how blind they to the series" That's a laugh, I can't even comment on that one mate. But if you knew anything about what the Diablo series really is, then you would know.
It's about.
-Lore and epic story.
-Cooperative based gameplay on and offline (to meet the end of that story with other people or by yourself)
-The rich, satisfying, enjoyable.. Item hunt.
-Pick up the game for 30 mins and enjoy every minute (Accomplish something no matter how small it may be)
So please before you go expressing to much "I know everything" think about what your saying.
Haha honestly? I bashed PvM'ers how? By saying "I am also not dumb enough to try and say that PvP is end all be all way to play Diablo like most of you PvM heroes who seem threatened by PvP'ers." which basically means I am not so blind as you PvM heroes who believe a game is only meant to be played one way. I am fine with both aspects combined, however you people who obviously are threatened by PvP'ers try and castrate anything and everything PvP oriented like it's Satan worshiping. Get over yourself fool, not you or Blizzard can tell me how to play the game, I am not telling you how to play the game nor am I wasting my time bashing you for only killing monsters. I stated a simple fact that PvP has always been a large part of the Diablo universe whether Blizzard or you PvM heroes want to acknowledge it or not. Become apart of the community and stick around as long as I have and you would see that, however I don't like to make false claims but I am pretty sure you are one of the kids who played on Bnet and got spanked and ran off crying because someone was mean to you, or you played offline so the big nasties didn't come get you. Hey...that's fine, play how you want, but don't talk out of your ass like you actually know anything.
By the way I voted a mixture of both. You can't PvP without PvMing. GW did it and that was rather boring, I don't like everything handed to me, I want a challenge and well Diablo PvM per say doesn't offer that but finding gear does. Hopefully inferno mode won't end up like "Ubers" where it can be solo'd pretty easily.
Funny, I don't even seem to remember telling you how you should or should not play Diablo. I just told you what it's about (truely) if you can't accept it then don't and obviously you don't want to.
"Become apart of the community and stick around as long as I have and you would see that"
So because you've been a person who comes on a diablo fan site, you have been round longer then me? and know more then I do?. I don't have to be on a forum to be apart of the diablo community mate, all I have to do is play the games and follow the franchise that I like so much.
Without pressing to many more keyboard buttons and arguing with you over a forum, I'm going to leave it and that. Feel free to post whatever you still may be holding onto. But I won't reply again on this thread.
At its base it is a competitive game you are always competing for better gear but there are some parts of the game that you can make Coop like running threw bosses with your friends but even then you still want to have the best gear drop for you.
It's a mixture of both but not an even mixture. In Diablo 2 for how I played, it was about 80% cooperative and 20% competitive. Competitive was only when I was bored of the cooperative monster killing. Like we finished killing a boss or got through a quest. People were bored and decided to do some duels. I usually lost, but I enjoyed the break from doing the same thing over and over. This is most likely what I will do in Diablo 3 too. Mostly play cooperative monster killing, and PvP only occasionally to take a break from the normal game. But what gets me addicted is getting new and better items, not beating everyone at PvP.
It is a mixture of both to a degree. I am all for Coop low levels PvM ( up till 30ish) then that is when it becomes more comp.
Yes PvP is a huge role, one thing I am annoyed by is the fact that people have to mule for their lower level characters (level 9) so they can ruin someones char without them agreeing to duel. How much pride can a OP Pally at lvl 9 get when they beat a Sorc or a necro? at level 9 without them wanting to duel?
ok im off topic a bit. Its both. I find myself going through games more alone than coop bc of PvPers. Very sad...
...But once I am high enough in level, I am all for it.
