Whilst the name and the look make think of a love child between Illidan and Sylvanas, the concept reminds me more of Vanhelsing, or perhaps Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I love it. Fits like a charm to me.
The class actually has a lot of influences from WC3. Not only Illidan and Sylvanas but also the Warden. They even included the Fan of Knives skill. Good thing its awesome so I dont mind the ccopy/pasta.
Wait, pasta? Is this Italian now? I know there are various ethnicities attatched to Diablo, but the DH is Italian? (actually, that would fit, but it sounds british).
Jokes aside, I couldn't agree more. It's definitely cool, and the fan of knives is a good touch. It's less of a copy paste than it is a fusion in my mind, which is fine. Works. Again, the feel reminds me of vanhelsing + Buffy. I like it.
EDIT: At the "Hero Emerges" panel, with the concept art, I wonder if there's a shot of the male Demon hunter.
Gameplay wise, it does seem overpowered, CC skills and a butt load of area nukes. And with the confirmation that the wizard time spell does work in pvp, thats a wining team right there.
Get real, folks, the diablo you all knew is dead, a few years ago i said right here in this forum that D3 had a pretty good chance of being blizzard first bust (i was flamed to death ofc), and what you know, its not even beta and its already looking that way.
I would personally rather have him look slim, feminized and sexy like the male wizard. Why does Blizzard love to have ugly male characters and attractive female characters? The male witch doctor and male barbarian are old, yet their counterparts are young. The male barbarian is even overweight. Talk about the double standard used in the design department. It must be composed exclusively of ugly, overweight and old males.
So you're saying that they must model the characters after themselves? I don't think so.
I would not mind him to be an emo anime douche, as long as he's buff and tall, I think it's about time Blizzard made a good-looking dude for their games (have you SEEN dwarf males in wow? yuck).
One thing I do hope is that she has a sense of humour in her dialogue. Might offset the complete seriousness of the other characters (kicking ass in style and with nice one-liners?)

Running the risk of sounding like a sexual orientation I'm not, I'd say, if he's going to be a hot guy, let's go Hugh Jackman. As I've said earlier, VanHelsing. Perhaps Patrick Dempsey. Stubble can be sexy.
I heard the male will be "sexy" as well which scares me, I don't play Diablo to have a "sexy" character. The male better look like a badass and not some emo looking vagina.
Agreed.
I am wondering. Are the only good weapons for the Demon Hunter going to be crossbows? They say the class can use "Bows/Crossbows" but other than their earlier concepts (2nd ones they showed look bad ass btw) crossbows are the main feature. Anybody know?

The Warden and the Demon Hunter have the same voice actress, if my ears don't deceive me.
And what's up with all these people thinking 'sexy' means 'emo'? Since when is hot the same as whining? When I think of a sexy Demon Hunter, I think of Viggo Mortensen. (Aragorn from the LotR movies) Or is he considered emo? :\
Oh, I don't think I could be more unimpressed. Congratulations for those of you who think this class is great, but I don't see it as very original. Now some might see these comments as sour grapes, and that's fine, but I was really hoping for a sword/shield class (similar to the Paladin, but not necessarily the same). Don't get me wrong, my enthusiasm for Diablo 3 is still quite high, but this makes me sad.
My only problem with people saying it's not original enough, is there are just as many people saying they want something that feels more familiar in some way. Like going off the deep end is bad, but so is having something not original enough. Like when the Monk came out, so many people complained about how it was just called the Monk and that was kind of boring and so many other games had done monk characters before. But like with the Witch Doctor so many felt it didn't really feel Diabloish and that he just looked too outlandish.
I do see how a knight/paladin type class would've pleased a lot of people. Especially for those looking for something more gothic like that resembled Diablo 1 more. Perhaps in the expansion we may yet see a class like that.
And you people better not start fucking talking about what an Asian face is supposed to look like. It's the biggest fucking continent on the planet, people Shut up!

I agree with you entirely, I would have traded any of the current classes for a Paladinesque character. Personally that is. Because there was need for a ranged class, a heavy hitter, a mage-like class, and a occult summoning type. Which leaves the Monk, but I think it was good of Blizzard to experiment here a bit and go with him rather than a traditional knight.
I'm definitely hoping for a knight in a future expansion though.
PlugY for Diablo II allows you to reset skills and stats, transfer items between characters in singleplayer, obtain all ladder runewords and do all Uberquests while offline. It is the only way to do all of the above. Please use it.
Supporting big shoulderpads and flashy armor since 2004.
Oh, well yeah I agree that in her fullest of armor, it definitely looks too excessive and counterproductive to being the agile hopping flipping chick she's supposed to be.
Everyone and their grandmother knew it was going to be a ranged (bow/x-bow) class. No huge surprises there, you're right. While I agree with you that the fact there's no real sword&shield class as of now is kind of a bummer, having no ranged class would've been even worse one. And I think all of the 5 classes presented so far have their own niches and I don't personally see which one could've been replaced.
I don't disagree with you Don, at least for the most part. The other classes I'm fine with and they do seem to be Diabloesque, but the Demon Hunter just seems to have a bit too much of a Vampiric or Van Helsing feel to it. It just seems that they sat down at a conference table one day, and decided they needed a ranged class (which I don't disagree that one was needed), but also something that didn't seem recycled or regurgitated. So, voala, we get the "Demon Hunter". But once again, that's just my opinion.
In the cinematic, considering the accent and the duel ranged weapons (plus the assumed in-game dungeon looting) did anyone else go "hahaha Diablo version of Lara Croft?" or am I just weird?
YAY! Can’t wait to play! Although I hope the skill animations are in an early state of development they look a little messy.
I was stricken more by the imminent clam bumping to take place between the two in the scene. And was that crossbow she handed to her at the end loaded? It was pointed right at her and she grabbed the handle right near the trigger. I certainly wouldn't take that risk with a bumbling traumatized woman.

At about 6:42. Looks like a Hassansin out of the Prince of Persia movie. Say what you will about the movie, but I like that look.
EDIT: Another shot at 8:14, still getting the Prince of Persia vibe.
