In addition to the Battle.Net forums being abuzz with activity, Blizzard has just made their first update of 2009 to the official Diablo 3 web site in the form of Media Update #4. This update contains four new pieces of concept artwork and five new screenshots. Once again (for me at least), it's the artwork that steals the show, and I'm sure these images will be adorning many of your desktops in the immediate future. Take a look and click on any of the images below to see the full high-res versions!
Also noteworthy is the fact that this image is different from the high-res version on their site. The low-res preview version appears to be a bit more colored in as you can see here:
Here's hoping they'll release a high-res pic of that version sometime soon.
And now for the screenshots:
So what do guys you think of this latest media update? Anything in particular really grabbing your attention this time?
I only just noticed that the Barbarian has blood splatters on his body.
Yeah I saw that too. I was wondering if it might be damage marks or demon blood, but it looks more like splatters. Still, very cool detail. I hope it stays like that for a while and allows for a player to eventually become completely covered in blood.
Artwork is awesome as always...screenshots are meh...but has anyone noticed the anvil and stove (don't know the blacksmith term) in the foggy tristram shot? I was thinking maybe this was griswolds old smithery? Maybe not, just a thought.
The anvil and the forge? i think it is the front of Griswold's shop, and there's something that looks like a well in the top left hand corner, so it's definitely in the right spot.

"Here for a blood bath?"...Yes, Yes I am.
If you look closely in the gameplay trailer you will notice from time to time he has blood marks on him that fade away (roughly the same speed as external gore and bodies)
I never noticed that before
I had to get my nose touching the monitor to notice, although I do have a very large nose
Screen shots are more of the same but still appreciated. The artwork on the other hand is awesome, makes me want to jump into that world. The blood spatters are really cool too, it would be awesome if they had a system where you see cuts and dents on armour depending on your health level.

Way too colorful. I mean, what is up with that rainbow and the unicorn on the side, and the garden gnomes picking flowers like everywhere in this pic?...
But seriously, its looking really good. The greyscale artwork of the city/town has a kind of eastern impression on it, when I see it I think of Persia or something. Looks like D3 will be in a lot of places geographically speaking

I cant wait to see more of the diablo world....its gonna be a lot more diverse then the ruined and tiny towns we saw in d2...gonna be really awesome
blaah, I look forward to screen shots more than art work, even though these ones were pretty good. I just wish they would show some screen shots of something they haven't showed us yet, maybe two characters fighting a "special" monster in a different kind of area.
concept art of male wizard.. please blizzard!
Or more concept art of Caldeum, that place looks niiiice
Wow, the foggy photo is the ruins of the rogue encampment!! That was Charsi's anvil. Wow, it is amazing to see how utterly destroyed that area has become. So we shall visit the Rogue Encampment, SWEET!!

I still have a lot of work to do to get to that level...
*zombie voice* Must...draw....
They always had the pages turning sound.
And cool artwork. Really adds more atmosphere, but I kind of wish they had something else.
