hahahaha fargnbastage WOW im close-minded for thinking that the whole video is not how the gameplay video is but YOU'RE not close-minded for thinking that the whole game is NOT all the same, that makes so much sense, it really does...
stop calling my argument weak because it's based on nothing, i'm basing it on the fact that they know what they're doing and yet again, yours is on a 20 min vide, if you dont like it, stop complaining acting so childish
Yea we no what the really world looks like.Like they said diablo is a fantasy... fantasy means's not really so why male the weather real and not the area?or the character .
You all do know that they can acomplish more with a slightly cartoonish look then a realistic look, they were talking about it in an interview. take the barb for example, it's very hard to make a realistic charecter pull a gigantic hammer out of his a$$ and swing it in .2 seconds, while making it look clean and crisp. Try playing Age of Conan, the animations are all lame because they have to be realistic. I would totally take a small hit in graphics for a game that allows me to do off the wall stuff such as the hammer of the ancients, it just gives blizzard more freedom to play with.
They tried to carry on the spirit of Diablo, minus the franchise, and falled falt on their faces.
The game was incredibly drab, with uninspired gothic 'hell' areas that just simply didn't work in 3D.
You no why because they were on a budget and .They didn't have a good lot of time something for movie games there always rushed and .They just rushed for release it was a good concept bet the game play and heart of the game (Hell gate) was lacking. I guess flagship was thinking to fast of making a game just because they got the dudes from blizzard and wanted to see what they could do pretty much they lost there touch with that game bet .I am pretty sure they will come out with same amazing next time.
Im not disappointed at all. The graphics are dope. Everyone that hates it was just hoping for a more WoW-like experiance and want to bitch and moan that its still D2 styled in the looks department. Those people are crazy if they think that 23,000 people are going to make blizz stop production and re-vamp that game. screw them because they will be the same ones buying then game and playing it endlessly all damn day and night

*bangs head on desk*
Why would the game change in appearance? What makes you think that in another part of Act 1 that they will suddenly add bump mapping, change the whole Art Design, give every model new skins, and tone down the color pallet?
That would basically be a whole new game...and it's not possible to have bump mapping in one part of a game and then have it in another. It is also impossible to change skins/models from one part of the map to another.
You simply just aren't thinking logically.
Hi guys, I'm new here and I just had to register when I saw the posts of this thread.
Can someone actually be more childish than the guys here who says Diablo needs to be dark?
For christ sake, when I look outside, I can see the sun is shining. ISN'T THAT REALISTIC? If fulltime darkness is reality to you nerds, then I highly suggest you to rise up from your chair and go outside to the daylight (if it's night out there then wait til it's daylight). I really can't believe how you can complain about such thing. I BET IT'S NOT NIGHT ALL THE TIME IN THE WORLD OF SANCTUARY.
And 2nd thing, it's been 8 years since d2, times have changed and graphics have improved. Should D3 be the same sharp edged d2 that we saw 8 years ago? NO, it should be a game made with the same basic idea than D2, but made with the programs and knowledge of the year 2008 and so on.
You guys are just pathetic. Grow up, and more importantly, get some fresh air!
P.S. I never should have posted this reply, as someone once said "Never argue with idiots, they will bring you down to their level and beat you with experience."
I mean at last make in a little more real . In weapon's and armor because they look like crap as of now yea it's hard to make thing's come out clean and crisp bet. I am sure they can make thing's look a little more believed to the diablo universe graphically in a way.... Really its those weapon's and armor that bug me so much damn close up or far away.In Diablo 2 you can see the armor and weapons clearly with great detail for it's time bet.. .and the camera is to pulled back as. I see it hopefully they will make things more real in a way by armor and weapons are my main probably .
After giving this some thought, here's my opinion.
We indeed haven't seen more than 20 mins of gameplay so far, it'd be nice to see 10x as much in the future and judge how the game looks overall. I must admit I was almost shocked by the visuals when the game was first announced; it looked cartoonish and over-coloured all around. Since then my opinion has mellowed, but I still think it could be desaturated JUST A BIT and given some more detail. Either by more polygons on the characters (probably not the best way) or simply adding Bump- and Normal Mapping to the characters, and retexturing them with ''specular highlights'' and whatnot on the textures. Already that would make a drastic difference, I suppose.
There can be light and colour in daytime, and there should. Now when I recall playing D2, it was fairly saturated all around and it had a lot of colour. So now when I look at the game, you can say its colours have been desaturated in D3. As so, it's certainly not the colours that bother me anymore, it's the shading.
From up close, the game just appears to resemble WoW. It's most likely my personal judgement and visual perception, but I can't help noticing this. The gameplay video shows the gore and the visual look to be almost seperate in my eyes, in a way they don't fit together. It's like adding gore to a children game. Anyway, it'd be extremely difficult to transplant D2 from 2D form into 3D, but that should give a small perspective on how the game ideally would appear in my visions.
But what the heck, I'll still play the game even if it wasn't as good-looking as it could be. These are just ''my'' suggestions on how to make the game better, and besides, the game probably isn't visually even honed to absolute perfection yet. Who knows if Blizzard has something different in mind as the game appears to be in alpha stage visually.
I agree 100%. It's not so much the colors or the lighting, because D2 had both color and lighting...but it's the shading and texturing of the skins and models. They are too smooth and cartoon like. And the armor...jesus...the armor went from a Gothic style to WoW-like. That's a bad move, IMO.
Yea it's 2008 graphic bet this looks compare. To other rpg game look's werid to me there are a lot of graphically improvements and.I am pretty sure blizzard can get some tools for making a realistic in some ways
in diablo 3 so it's really should not be a probably with blizzard so .
Hey guys. The only way forward, is forward.
If Blizzard have played the game, tested the multiplayer and their feedback states they enjoy it, then i place my trust in blizzard. Please see the wikipedia article on diablo iii - some (not all) of the guys originally affiliated to the series are working on d3. There is a new guy, Jay Wilson, who used to do work on the warhammer 40,000 series. He's the lead art designer - so now we see a link, hey?
Then we have Leonard Boyarsky who is one of the co-founders of the epic, 'fallout' he is the lead world designer. Then we have michael morhaime who overlooks all this.
Maybe, once we've all actually played the game, may we keep on ranting on about the graphics.
Because isn't that really what we're in it for? The Game?
And, with respect to this Lee guy's statement concerning 'colour is your friend, that only tells us that this game is very far along in terms of development.
Makin me even more excited, cause that means that us actually playin the game. Isn't too far off.
They had huge financial backing from a number of korean parties, so finance wasn't an issue to be fair. Also, they were developing the game for 4 years or so.
I personally believe they tried aiming for too much in the game, and they simply ran out of time and money to include everything. The finished product is something of an empty to shell because of this.
Oddly enough, pretty much the only people on the Hellgate team who are ex-Blizz are all in the Art department ;).
I really want to see the other art desgin blizzard came up with .With Diablo 3 so i can compare what was the best choice for the art desgin in the end and what could have been improve on bet blizzard didn't want to do so they want a good start .I guess bet hopefully this game does will because when this game comes's out there are going to be a lot of mix feeling on how it will look on the final day.
Ever in diablo 2 you are not that faraway. In this camera your a little more they could have mad the armor more real and the weapons and they would have not have to made it more faraway. Because as of now they look like crap and don't till me you don't want your armor to look super sweet when you play diablo and weapons.
diablo3 textures - of few colours, cartoonish, smooth textured, polarized, not material enough!
diablo2 and diablo1 - little bit bumpy, crispy, everything feels as raw materials, grounds, walls.. even items in inventory looks realistic, bumpy, raw steel armors, bone shields...
and d3 inventory is a pure cruel joke - icons, childish icons.. the boss of gameplay is the size of the 3ground house, who easily brakes everything around himself ( the saw that in video ) and the boss hit slices only 1/10th the hp of warriors.. not realistic, cartoonish, for children.. to get more money.. shame on me, that i must tell this..
We need to hit 50000signations in petition or what? to make them aware they sux mixing franshises..mixing, experimenting..with wc3, wow, and d2..
many years ago, many games released - titan quest, sacred, and others...ordinary games ( mixed ideas from all games )
you are a case of what the other half of poeple ( ones who think its good as is ) think poeple are over reacting, the boss in the gameplay was too big? how...wtf...i dont have words for your stoopidity. its a gameplay demo...all those heros were beefed up, it was just a demonstration. and no, you dont need to hit 50000 signatures, you need 2 million, 4 million poeple played D2, you think blizzard will change everything they have done for a fraction of fans. think again.
Well said (the last line anyway).
