I'd also love to see a fully armored sword-wielding class as something to make up for dropping the Paladin, maybe something like a Cavalier, or a Templar... someone agile, with a rapier, wearing full-body, elaborate plate, with maybe some spells here and there...
Of course you have to have a robed caster class, as other people have pointed out... Maybe something like a Cleric or Disciple, if it goes toward the Light, or maybe an Arcanist. (arcane magic announced?)
And then, I would love to see a Ranger class, like someone else said, something like Strider/Aragorn from LOTR, that combines aspects of a Druid and a Rogue.
It'll be interesting to see what classes they can make to compliment a hulking Barbarian, and a really flamboyant Witch Doctor...

But if we are to have an alteranative fighter class - why not a Ranger class?
Only problem is that the Ranger is not necessarily heavy armoured...
Templar is too specific historically - ie: to real-world history...
Back in the the 80s there used to be a AD&D 'Cavalier' sub-class... Maybe an idea?
But still I think Paladin would have been more popular...
