Me too, but they won randomly. They should have won on the merits of their work, not on a random drawing that was supposed to be a contest. They should have won on that great post. Others should have won on their great posts. Instead others who just registered with 1-2 posts won with pitiful contributions.
I know, I'm guessing the admins were distracted by something else on the site (or a real life thing) since they didn't step into clarify things (like the rules which people were questioning, as far as I know they never reminded people the rules, or updated the rules to be more clear).
I'm hoping that they didn't just get bored and decide to do a randomizer instead of reading through all them.
Correct. Only the 20 winners were picked randomly. All entries will be sent to Blizzard soon after Bashiok returns from Leipzig GC and PAX convention commitments. Well, unless Mockery already did it ahead of me.
Pointless rant. There were around 308 entries. It is nigh impossible to read them all and pick which were best, then narrow them down to 20 winners.
As for 20 identical posts, we are not sending the 20 only. We are sending most of them 307 submissions.
I met Bashiok in Paris. He reads diablofans boards.
If I had originally said it would be random, people would have created multiple accounts to raise their chances to win -- which could have resulted in a lot of people getting banned since that's against the forum rules/guidelines. I have seen on the moderation private forums a lot of cases of people who have gotten banned for that. Moderators do investigate multiple accounts zealously.
Although I do agree with you on the multiple accounts issue, it could have been handled like blizzard did with the blizcon tickets, had to have an account created to a previous date, as someone suggested
Wow, thank god that as consolation for completely ruining any competition there would be in this CONTEST, we are assured that Blizzard will be sent all 308 of these! Good thing it's too much effort to pick out the 20 best, I mean, they'd have to read through all three... hundred... and eight... oh, no... they're going to have to read through them anyway!
Here is how this should have been handled. You should have sent them all to blizzard, then had them pick the 20 ideas that are the most inventive and/or different from everyone else's, and then reward those posters with the prize, AS insinuated by the original contest post.
You think it'd be too hard to figure out the best posts? Here, let me help. Every post that says "You rock!", disqualified. Every post that says "Necromancer", disqualified. Every post that says "Titles", disqualified. Every post with "WoW", disqualified. I even saw one post with the ingenious idea of COOKING AND FISHING. Wow. A great mind there, I can't believe Blizzard is going to get their hands on some fresh mind food like that. I think they could add two more called First Aid and Riding and they'd have a good lesser professions system going on!
Seriously though, this contest was utter bullshit. I wanted my idea to seriously be evaluated. I could have sent them an e-mail and made a better impression than to have my idea sandwiched between "lolz I tink u shud bring back necro cuz he rox!!1 and u rox!" and "Well I was thinking, how about a Trading Board? I know it's been said 200 times already, but I was also thinking, WHAT ABOUT TITLES? Like, you know, for pvp, like gladiator. God, I'm so smart!"
Out. You can pride yourself on a poorly executed contest, but ultimately it's just patting your own backs. Everyone else is giving you a virtual finger.
EDIT: Oh, and that we should be happy that we gave them ideas. Get real. I don't do other people's full time job for them for nothing.

From the very beginning, internally we had agreed it would be a random lottery. We didn't want people creating multiple posts or creating new accounts -- as that would be a bannable thing.
Regardless, the PvP and Trade feedback was an addition wanted. Whether just asking for people to post once as an entry to the contest or lottery, or submitting a pvp / trade feedback the end would have been the same for this specific and particular contest --- winners would have been and were chosen randomly.
Now that aside, helping Blizzard with feeback to make PvP and Trading the best possible experience in Diablo 3 is a plus. It is a reward for all fans.
It is not your call how we should have done it. We don't tell you how to do stuff in your household, where you pay the bills and run things.
the way i see it... all these winners went off-topic.

First off, screw you. If you had read my post thoroughly you would understand the concept that no one thing will make gold worthy. That was my true suggestion. Also I covered pvp and tied it in with gold, eat it. It doesn't have to be wordy to be a good suggestion.
Second off, thank you Diablofans for this most wonderful gift, and thank you god of randomly generated epicness. Too bad I no play WoW...
PS Medievaldragon 666 posts, teh number of teh beast!
By the way, to those worrying that some people created multiple accounts and could have won several times... all of the entries were from unique IP addresses, all of whom participated in the contest according to the rules.
Thanks again to those of you who are being good sports about this, whether you were one of the winners or not.
Furthermore, Murderface just sent me a really nice message which I'll be sharing with everybody as soon as I get a quick confirmation.
BTW, to those of you who are upset, don't worry, we'll be crystal clear in the future with the contest rules. That being said, if you're ever unsure about the rules/requirements for a contest, feel free to ask us. Myself or one of the other staff members will be more than happy to answer any questions you guys have.
Now let's move on and be happy that Bashiok will be forwarding many of the suggestions from our contest to the Diablo 3 team. Having your opinions heard by Blizzard is the real prize here folks... the chance to win a Tyrael pet card was just icing on the cake.
Also, kudos to all the staff and moderators of Diablofans.com as well as Blizzard for organizing this contest. I love contests of this nature!
Plus, it is great to hear that our ideas will all be sent to Blizzard! Is there any way we could receive feedback (other than playing the game itself) on which end up being used or at least tried? Thanks!
Great contest all around!
Hopefully they will get a chance to respond to some of the ideas in future interviews. Its always nice when a bit of conversing happens between the fans and the devs.
Congrats to the winners. They be grinners to be sure.
Now stand still while I slap you around with my sour grapes.
(Thanks for sending all to Bashiok as I know my effort was not wasted)
BTW: Would I have really been eligible to win even though I don't live in north America? (I come from the land down under, where women glow and men plunder)

So we've got over the problem of colour in D3. Great. Now let's argue about everything else not yet set in stone and help make this game simply great! Game on.
I wonder if Blizzard ever sees an idea here and discusses it in the offices...
I think they're going to read everyone's ideas that were presented in the thread. And one of the incentives for presenting the idea was a chance to win the Tyrael Pet card.

Wow. I put a lot of thinking into my contribution only to find out that I could have just posted one sentence which could be any useless dribble and win? Just wow. I could have just posted my ideas on the official forums and Bashoik would have probably read them if they were any good.
I actually didn't know either that the winners would be picked my method of drawing. I was under the impression that the winners were being chosen by Blizzard's favorite ideas presented. I guess I just didn't read the contest rules carefully enough.
Don't want be cheesy but I will: Let's not miss the point. Although Blizzard do come to these forums often, the contest thread was like a highway straight through to Bashiok where ever post would be noticed.
Not often you get a through pass right to the top.
In other words *cheese alert* we're all winners.

Yes, I suppose that is a little cheesy. And I genuinely like my idea and hope it is actually implemented in the game. So that was the real reward for me.
Do you realize how long it would take to read every contest submission and then decide which 20 are the best? It would be nearly impossible.
Well I took time to read every post, it didn't take that long really.
Anyway, grats to the winners. I would be lying if I said I wasn't hoping for the beta key and the pet but oh well. Most of the suggestions made were from people with a single post on the site ever (but I guess that was the point of the competition). I'm only a bit concerned with the fact that winning suggestions obviously repeat the same unoriginal things, so I'm wondering if whoever from Blizzard reviews them, will be aware of the fact that it was a random drawing. If not, then all I can say is Lol.
Reading takes time, but actually judging the best decisions would be so very hard. Go on, choose the best 20 and not have everyone complain that the winning suggestions were crap suggestions.
The winning suggestions aren't the only ones going to blizzard. Every suggestion (all 300+ of them) are going to blizzard.
Well thanks for deleting my post, I guess the truth hurts.
Key points:
They are now going to have to sift through 308 generally awful suggestions and probably give up way before the good ones.
Your argument is that reading through 308 entries and picking out any interesting ones is too much work.
I don't see how, by this logic, our ideas will be considered, that's all, and that's your 'feel good' dismissal technique to an obvious discrepancy. Basically everyone had the wrong idea.
Reading takes time, but actually judging the best decisions would be so very hard. Go on, choose the best 20 and not have everyone complain that the winning suggestions were crap suggestions.
Hm. You are right, now that i think about it. Who gets to say what is better than something else and based on what?
People would complain saying 'omg I had a better suggestion' etc.
Besides, it's for the best that it was never originally said suggestions would be randomly picked - because then people would loose any inclination to put effort and do something that is worth reading / longer than one sentence, etc.
Though if there was a focus on post quality, I can't help but think I would have gotten the pet/key.

At first, I missed the trading and pvp part but i like my mercenary idea so, i tried to adapt it
