Trading in Diablo 3: As I've already stated twice here and at least once at the official Diablo 3 forums.
TRADE CITY(s)
Anyone who has played Diablo 1 & 2 can tell you it takes 10+ hours of gameplay to obtain a single piece of the armor set you are looking for let alone that dream weapon.
A trade city or cities would relieve players of this burden from the previous Diablos. Instead of making your own game entitled the name of what you are looking for (dozens of times), and joining dozens of other trade games all players that wish to trade instead of actively questing in the game can join together in this trade city. It will not be a chat-room or a place to show off but players will also use it as that. The difference between this trade city should be the number of players that are allowed to join possibly 100+ as opposed to a mere 8 as seen in Diablo 2.
Personally I am less concerned about trading in Diablo 3 than I am about the economy itself. Gold has to be worth something. I know D2's item-based economy was not intended, but creating that giant rift between the have and the have-nots is horrible for the economy. In terms of the actual trading, I've always been partial to the Auction House style system, in World of Warcraft, as well as other games with a similar system. It need not be an actual auction house though. There could be "trade" servers where people can come to trade and set up booths of some design where they can offer up their wares for others to see, although this encourages AFKing while you wait, and that is likely not something Blizzard wants to do. Basically I would personally like to see a system where I don't need to sit in the chat all day trying to hawk my wares, I can be playing all the time and let the system do the work for me. Similarly, if I am looking to buy something, I don't have to try and hunt someone down for a trade or purchase. Of course I don't think that these things are elements that should be completely removed because some people enjoy that type of thing, but I would at least like the option. The most likely option would likely be some sort of auction house like interface in the battlenet channel itself. This one is a bit of a long shot, but it would be cool if we had some sort of account-wide storage option, to remove the need for mule characters.
Other than that the only big thing that I would like to see change in D3 is the ability to respec. I know this has been a topic of fierce discussion in the past and present, though I have read almost none of it so I do not know what arguments have been presented for either side, or where the discussion is headed. I simply prefer to have one character that I can experiment with rather than being forced to make 20 different ones to do so. I am the type who loves to experiment, but being forced to create and level an entirely fresh character kills my will to do so. I don't end up experimenting, and I end up sticking with the character I have leveled, worked hard on, and grown attached to regardless of how good or bad their build may end up be
When playing Diablo 2 some of my fondest memories were going Magic Hunting with my friends on Hell Difficulty. I think one of the reasons that made D2 so fun for me was all the "little things" that blizzard puts into its game. Thinks like Wirts leg, The Cow Level, and the gem on the battle .net chatroom. In diablo 3 I'd like to see more of the homage to other blizzard games that blizzard does so well.
I also wish to implore the development team to include magic find items. the fact that I had at least the illusion of control over how often I would find magical items made the game that much more fun for my friends and I.
There also needs to be a better looting system other then dropping everything down on the floor, I always hated being in a match (which might be why I only played with friends cause they never did this) and having to fight to get to the loot. I know people are hesitant to add WoW-elements to this game, but the need/greed roll system I think would be very applicable here.
There definitly has to be a central place for people to be able to sell/buy things. This is basically a must for a good game. I get tired of just selling loot to the vendors...
I would personally like to see this idea implemented into the game. if they are sticking to the standard Battle.net server setup, but on a larger scale, i would love to see a trading "realm" where you can go to buy/sell anything in the game. You simply log out when you are ready to, and join the Trade realm. I think this would be a good idea as (if you compare to WoW for example) this may cut down/eliminate the general "trade spam" you see in-game, and would restrict it to the trade realm, in which you would gladly accept/put up with it because that is what you logged on for.
I'd like to see some sort of team PvP. And maybe like when you are creating a game there can be a game type that is just PvP.
Like you would have normal, Nightmare, Hell and PvP. Which would be just like an arena for players to kill each other.
I think the trading system would be cool if it had some kind of way to show the value of the items being traded. Like if I have a charm that's really amazing and you have a unique sword that I would like but its not as valuable as my charm there would be a point system that would come up in the trade menu to warn me that i am not getting my money's worth. And then it is up to me to decide if i really want that sword or if i want more for my charm.
Personally, I'm a huge fan of the Diablo lore and the storyline behind all the games. I would love to see some kind of interface built into the game that would allow characters to create Surnames, character back story, maybe even create there own lineage.
Using this interface, players could develop a personal story to their character, adding to the already existing storyline that will be played out. For me it would make the game that much more enjoyable.
It would be really cool if we saw some sort of mailing system in Diablo 3. It would make transactions with other players a lot easier, and you wouldn't have to wait until they log on to trade with them. It works very well in World of Warcraft, why not take a page out of your own book, Blizzard?
Also, isn't it time that an official clan system be setup for Diablo III? The current one for Diablo II is non-existant, and I am sure a lot of people would appreciate it if there was a clan channel to communicate better with other members. Maybe something like the friend system, but make it seperate and throw in some extra options like clan rank.
If you ever have a reason to bring other old characters back to Diablo III, please bring the archer back!!!
I really appreciate the quality of work that the folks at Blizzard have been doing for all of their games, so let's keep it going!
Obviously trading needs to be worked on and i dont think gold will ever be as valuable to a diablo fan as it is to someone who plays WoW so an auction house wouldnt work. What i suggest is an actual in game area where traders can bring their items and post them on some type of board. You cannot buy them directly from there but you will have the persons name who wants to trade that item and from there you can either reply to his post, or whisper him directly if he's online at the time. Because its set up by B;izzard it would be easy to find the items because it would be organized by slot and rarity etc. This gives the functionality of the AH without the need for a standard type of currency.
One major issue I always had with trading in Diablo 2 was the chat. I liked the idea of having a private chat with the person you were trading with, but the design had a major flaw. On countless occasions I would enter a trade game, begin a conversation with someone, the standard "WuG" (what you got?) questions, and he/she would begin a trade with someone, thus cancelling my ability to communicate with them. I would type some long explination or offer just to realize... "Oh they didn't hear anything I just typed" and then they would trade the item I wanted and leave the game without me ever having been able to commuicate adequatley.
This subsequently created an extremely frenzied atmosphere when entering a trade game. Everyone would clamber to the nearest person and click as fast as they could, running from one char to the next spam clicking constantly. The people you actually wanted to trade with would be constantly busy and then leave the game before you could do anything.
I think an easy fix to this would be to simply color the text. When you enter the game the general chat could be as it was. However, when you enter a trade screen it could be a different color, say green. You and the person you were trading with would be the only people seeing this green chat: -BUT- you would still see the normal "general" text, it would just be a different color. This way people outside your trade could still communicate with you freely, but your private trade could be... well... private. It wouldn't hurt to make this whole mechanism an option, able to be toggled on or off. Maybe some people don't want to hear the general spam, I can understand that, but it was always cause for some serious frustration for me when it came to trying to trade in Diablo 2.
II. PvP
I wasn't a huge PvPer, mainly for one reason: Unmoveable talents. I'm somewhat of a casual gamer, and the idea of spending days building a PvM character, completely specced for the art of loot collecting and killing monsters, only to realize: if you wanted to PvP with the hardcore PvPers at all, you would have to create a whole new character specced for PvP - was exacerbatingly frustrating. So essentially you had to build 2 of the same characters, or 2 seperate characters. 1 MF char (Magic Find) and a PvP char. I got bored before I ever finished the second char and was left with one and half toons.
I'm not saying the talents should be based off the WoW system. I like the idea of being completely specialized. But maybe give a parallel PvP tree. One set of trees that solely benefits your PvM play, and a seperate set of trees for PvP. Each level you get 1 point to distribute in each. When you're done, you have a character able to be a mf looting machine, and then, if you fell like switching it up, you're totally capable of doind so, it's already built in.
It's more of a casual player's supplication, but it would have made my Diablo 2 experience much more enjoyable.
Although server structure might be the same as it was before even in a revamped Battle.net - there being four realms - it would be cool to allow for a form of an auction house to take place. This would bind players together, yet be hard to configure without greater server infrastructure, i.e. : more like WoW with "battlegroups."
But, Blizzard could still allow for just one giant realm auction house since they have already been quoted saying they wanted more emphasis on gold use in D3. This would allow for the market to be influenced by the demands of all the players on the server... but other those against an idea like this would just bring up the fact that there "are" many items, but at the same time, it would almost be foolish to do something like this.
Just airing some ideas about one topic with some counterargument.
I think I would like a standard arena of competition for pvp. Something that could limit the armor and weapons to promote a fair system that would be based on skill and talent builds.
I know this isn't directly a trading/PVP suggestion, but it will alter and add diversity to both.
Why don't we add a new level to the RPG element by allowing players to find weapons (and/or armor) that can evolve?
There could be many paths to upgrade these items, such as getting certain amounts of kills wearing the item, sacrificing your own experience, paying gold for an NPC to do it for you, or finding a component to combine with it. The player gets to choose which path they take to upgrade, and depending on how they upgrade it will shape the item the most (e. g. upgrading through monster kills gives a slight DPS bias among other attributes).
Then you would have a system so that every 5 upgrades or so, your item starts to look cooler. Maybe add some glowing effects, more eccentric looking blades, etc. and even grant some special effects like a passive cleaving ability to an axe. Maybe players could even choose colors or styles to expand the ability to be a unique player online.
This will be like a minigame for players who want to take a break from leveling their characters or farming special items. To make it even more interesting, the item should lose some chance to successfully upgrade after each level. From level 0, your item may have a 100% chance to upgrade but at level 1 it may drop down to 97%. This makes the process riskier as the item becomes stronger, which gives more of a gambling feel to it.
If it doesn't upgrade successfully, some ideas to what could happen (from best to worst possible circumstance):
The item remains the same, and you're allowed to try to upgrade again (this is pretty much a scare tactic).
The item remains the same, but you lose the reagents in the process.
The item downgrades, but you keep your reagents.
The item downgrades.
The item gains a maleficial effect (like the ones from the original Diablo).
The item becomes ethereal.
The item disappears.
Of course some of those seem pretty extreme, but it all depends on how the balance of the game is worked out.
A way this could be incorporated is by having an angel's sanctuary be the 'upgrade center.' In my mind, I picture it as some underground cove with a pond in the center. The player would drop the item into the pond and talk to one of the angels (depending on how you want to upgrade it), asking them to grant the item otherworldly powers.
The way I see it, this would be a way to diversify PVP. It would be nice seeing two barbarians going against each other with the same skills yet different emphases on specs. Instead of being some cookie-cutter build, it depends entirely on the person's style of play.
For trading, different items such as reagents would become significant in the market. Rather than trading only weapons and armor, players would see greater worth in items such as gems and money because of their use in upgrading weaponry.
I'm not going to write detail to detail on what should be done , fixed or changed, cause i'm pretty sure im repeating what most of these people already said so I'm just going to say what I think is a good reminder to the diablo 3 team.
I love blizzard , they never fail me in creating amazing games. Just think outside the box and be extra creative and careful about adding features and add-ons from other previous games and make sure that the fans think its good and what are the advantages and disadvantages. People complain about blizzard doing this and doing that , if you really think about it... all their games were a HUGE hit. So try your very best to keep Diablo 3 - "Diablo'ish"

Detailed skill system, allowing for a unique character and a unique experience every time you encounter someone in PvP.
Deep weapon/armor customizations allowing for not only a different look but also plenty of different ways to fight. i.e modifiers that add bleed effects or a double attack sometimes, or to be able to summon a demon from the bowels of hell chance on hit thing. Something that could quickly turn the tide in a fight.
Being able to change spell animations, even though this seems minor it would make the game feel much more personal.
Trading system improvements -
Secure trades via a bank server which will ask for a password issued by the original owner of the item, allowing for easy trading in a worldwide trade specific chat room instead of having to make a game room to trade an item. This could also be modified to be an actual visual world, providing for a much more interesting trading experience.
That's all. Nothing is impossible as long as the release date is "Whenever it's ready"
i think there should be an option when u CREATE the game to make a "pvp" game and automatically make everyone hostile to each other. You should still be able to make teams also.
For trade, i believe that to make the economy stable, there should be a "bind on equip" kind of system similar to WOW just so the same item doesnt become so overly populated.
I have been a long-time fan of diablo, and am excited to possibly have the chance to contribute.
My contribution:
PvP:
As in diablo 2, I believe that there should be something gained (other than honor in WoW) for killing another player. Such as money, (like diablo II) or even an item from the opposing character. This could possible only happen in a certain place in the world, and possibly only on certain servers. I think those willing to go big or go home, or to sacrafice their own gear for anothers would add a new exciting twist to the game.
Also, something comparable to the "Arena" in World of Warcraft would be nice. Where a player can be recognized for their superiority in a Player Vs. Player situation. In addition, I believe that here should be the only place something like "honor" (as in WoW) should be obtainable, and to be used for items in which they had to earn in the arena.
As for now this is all I have about PvP.
Trading/Economy:
As for the trading goes. I believe the economy should be ran by the player and for the player. I believe that a auction house, or even just a trading community would suffice for the people. I believe that gold should be a dominating factor, not items as in previous games. Gold SHOULD be able to buy some of the better if not best of items (Note that I do want some item trading, just not item dependant).
For gold control I believe the game creators should have high costs for the high leveled, such as fairly large repair bills, and for the respec cost to be fairly high. (We do not need people stashing money for no reason) I believe the Cost of "living" in the game should slowly rise with the economy, and with levels of course. If we could just get the admin to somehow track the economy, and slowly change the cost of things, it would make the game more challenging, and therefore make people strive for more money, better gear, etc. Making the game more fullfilling, and more exciting and fun to play.
Well, this is all I got, hope I helped in some way or another. Send me that code! =]
Thank you for the opportunity for the players to have input. I cannot wait to get the game started.
Lets start with PvP, first I would like some arena. They wouldn't have to be big, heck they could even be random. Have several types too. We don't need this to be WoW, but how about one the teams start at each end and at a random time in the middle a boss shows up to wreck havock. Also make them on a time limit as killing in PvP should take that long. So you'd have a for example, two minute arenas, five minute arenas, and ten minute arenas. You could do 1 v 1 or 2 v 2 (or 3 v 3 depending on the max amount of chars in a game)
Along with arenas they should have other types of PvP, I don't know what to call it but a mode where some one is IT. When they are it they rack up points, and when someone kills IT they become IT and start racking up there own points. You could also do a king of the hill (team king of the hill). I would as like..... well..... a chamber like pvp. The game starts the door opens and your opponent is there. You then have a set time (say 30 seconds) and the next door will open. You don't know who your opponent is how much damage they took the last round or if there battle is over (you only have the set time so if neither player is dead the doors open anyways so both oppents might still be there). Again depending on the the max chars per game you could also do teams. This could make things very interesting as you the next door might open it could be your teammate. So then you wait the for the next door to open and team up on the poor soul.
You would have to do some level limits of course. I say a 5 level limit, I'd like to say a four level limit (so 10-13 {10, 11, 12, 13} 14-17 {14, 15, 16, 17}) Of course the best way would be to do a 5's only (so 15 only, 20 only, 25 only, so on and so forth). I don't know how feasible it is, but I think you should be able to spec to the fives (so you have your skill tree at 20, you lock that in and if you want to battle at 24 your still using your 20 skill set). This would offer the most equal way to do PvP. Of course then you would have to worry about equipment. You could let them get there own, but I don't know if stopping the level 24 char not use some equip because it's to high be fair as that would mean they would have to lug around a set of PvP gear (then again you could always have a set place for that). Of course you could always have presets of gear that they would choose from, much how they did in WoW on there PvP test realm. A selection of gear that everyone can choose from where no item is better than the next, just diffrent. I don't know alot about programming but it seems like a preset would be easy to scale for levels (So instead of gives + 3 dextierty at level 10 it gives + 5 dexteirty at level 15)
You would also need some sort of reward for pvp. I really like the idea of contests. Such as it cost x amount to do PvP and if you win you get X amount of cash. If cash is actually worth something than this would be good. Another issue with that is that if cash is actually valuable, then what is stopping someone from hording gold at level 15. The easy soloution would be the make PvP give exp so they would have to move up rank (see above).
Another idea is that if you get to choose from a pre-set of items to choose from for PvP is the more you win the more selection you get. Maybe I've been playing to much Call of Duty 4 but I have hit prestige mode and I was ready to rank back up. Instead of prestige (which is starting back over) you could instead use your ranks to by titles. So when you reset you get a title.
Another idea is to win dare I say tokens. You could go four ways with this. First you could use them to buy special gear. Second, you could use them to buy non-combat related things like say a non-combat pet, or give your armor a red glow ( or a glow of your likeing), or give them an evil laugh when you use the laugh emote (pretty much anything that doesn't directly effect the game. Third you could do a combonation of the two. The fourth thing, you could let them buy stuff for your guild hall.
As for regular PvP, I think that is fine by as it was in Diablo II. I like being able to group with people I don't know without having to worry about them PKing me and taking my items. As it stands now it is more of an inconvince and playful killing fun. Really the only thing you have to worry about is killing a boss, someone going into PK mode then killing you and taking the loot. However this only works once and is easly fixed by never playing with that person again. Also since each person get's there own loot, the problem is eleminated all together.
Also another thing I'd like to address is the questing system. In diablo II all you have to go off of is a discription, char level and how long the game has been going. You don't know how many times I would join a game that (according to the discription) said was right were I was at and when I joined they had completed the part I need or was way behind where I was. I would like to be able to click on a game and know exactly where the game is. Sure that would mean being able to limit where people could go (since if the game says they are doing x but they are really doing y then it would be useless).
Also I'd like a better game search. Maybe I'm just unlucky but lots of time when I'm on BNET I can't find a game in my level range. When look most are was ahead or way behind. I know I can create a game with people in a certain level range but just because the guy just created a char didn't put a level cap on his doesn't mean it should show up on my list of available games.
TRADE CITY(s)

Being able to change spell animations, even though this seems minor it would make the game feel much more personal.
Trading system improvements -
Secure trades via a bank server which will ask for a password issued by the original owner of the item, allowing for easy trading in a worldwide trade specific chat room instead of having to make a game room to trade an item. This could also be modified to be an actual visual world, providing for a much more interesting trading experience.
That's all. Nothing is impossible as long as the release date is "Whenever it's ready"

To other forum members, I would love to have conversations through any of the given contacts above. Just to talk about the game and what not.
