MTV Multiplayer Journalist Tracey John wraps up her set of interviews with Jay Wilson with a bang. Diablo 1 and Diablo II characters will be prominent throughout the storyline of Diablo 3, as well as characters from the novels that did never exist in the previous Diablo games. More interesting is that Blizzard considers Diablo 3, the wrap up of the trilogy. Did we get a hint that Diablo MMO is to follow? Or a Diablo 3 Expansion? Read the Diablo 3 Storyline interview.
“We also tried to focus a little more on bringing characters back, and not just from ‘Diablo II’ but from ‘Diablo I,’” he said. “We feel like a lot of the focus is on ‘Diablo II’ but ‘Diablo I’ started it all and has a lot of really good stuff on the gameplay side and on the character side. So people can expect to see characters from ‘Diablo I,’ more characters from ‘Diablo II,’ and characters from some of the books. We’re definitely going to bring a few of them in.”
indeed, i dont see anything hinting for a MMORPG from this post. But i do like the fact we're getting people from Diablo 1 back. Could he mean a playable class too?
Sin wars i think would be the best setting for a diablo mmo. also you have to read the whole article not just the snippets we post.... to get the zomg what els could they do with the diablo series? i mean if they can turn a rts game into a mmo you can definetly turn a action already rpg into a mmo.
I remember before the announcement you were flamed if you said Diablo III wasn't going to be an MMO. They aren't making an MMO- period. It's just an expansion or something.
And while “Diablo III” ends the trilogy, fans needn’t worry — it’s not the final curtain for “Diablo.” “We’re not saying this is the end of the ‘Diablo’ universe, but we are trying to bring this storyline to a close,” Wilson said. “It’s not just ‘Diablo III’ — we’ve got plans beyond.”
I don't think they're specifically hinting at a MMO. I also don't think we can assume what's being hinted at (it could be anything: a prequel, a mmo, a movie.. who knows?), just that they have something up their sleeves, but I think they're not hinting at an expansion in this article, but I think its safe to assume that there will be an expansion anyway (I think there was another article on that), and that will probably finish off the storyline (id imagine).
Meh, I wouldn't be surprised, D3 looks like a blend between WoW and D2, maybe they decided to make D3 the way it is to start blending it towards an MMO setting where they feel they need simple gameplay and cheerful graphics to draw in customers. I can bet if there is an MMO the graphics will take another dive.
Well if the trilogy is wrapped with D3, then next step would be an MMO? No? I personally think it's a fantastic idea. A world to unite all of D3 lore, locations and history. With more depth in game mechanics, more serious combat system and more challenging boss encounters. Oh yeah, and no more ebay economy.
But of course, I can already picture many kids complaining about their favorite no-brainer game going all grown up. Well get over it. You are lame and pathetic.
Thanks, Jugzor

Woot!! Maybe its that next gen MMO.
Making Controversial points one post at a time!
Lol? Seriously? MD only knows as much as any of us on the subject, he's not working for Blizzard.
Stop being so ignorant.
