Hm, I think the d3 team should add something to veiw the weapon when not equipped. For example, you scroll your mouse over to the one slot item, wait 1-2 seconds and then a box appears with a 3D animation of the item. Wouldn't that be awesome?
About the inventory system, I think this is a major improvement from d2's system. Such a small rectangle for so many items.
Stash, if there is going to be a stash (Which I am 90% sure there is going to be one), I think they should add a price menu to BUY extra space. Example: 10 slots - 3000g, a second box - 10000g, know what I mean???
As far as a bag system goes I would love to see some extra inventory room. I do wish we could still see the full item but I am willing to give that up for the space.
The thing that bothered me though were the skills. I noticed that there were some skills that had ranks i.e. Hammer of the Ancients was rank 4/5 and Battlecry was rank 5/10. While other skills such as Whirlwind had both a rank and level (rank 1/20, current lvl 1). Does this mean that not all skills will level to 20? or is this some sort of advanced leveling system that incorporates ranks and levels. I do not mind some evolution of the skill tree but limiting the number of times I can lvl one skill verses another is disappointing (so I hope that isn't it)!
I think they'll fix the ranks of the spells. The game is still not done.
Did anyone else notice in one of the videos that there was a cool-down on a battle-cry......not more spamming battle-shouts, i think i just died a little inside haha
LOL ME TOO, I would say to my friends on bnet "HEAR MY BATTLE CRY LIL B****es"
I hate having to tele back to town to get a price. The value or approx. value should be able to be seen without visiting a vendor. Also, it would be nice if mercs (if there are any) could carry some items.
Edit: It would also be nice if you could upgrade charms instead of throwing away (or selling) the lower level ones.
I really don't know how the bag system works, but i think that u may grab bags that increase slots availability, i've just seen that u won't see the entire weapon, but that's OK, 'cause u may see it pointing it with the mouse.
But i was thinking, that sometimes, u want to grab something fast, and with just pressing "I" twice, u could take a peak over the bag, now i can't see that so easy to do. And the problem of mules, like a lot said before, unless u have infinite space, u'll have it, later, but still there. Someone said something 'bout a bank, WoW has it? I don't care if D3 has it too.
But i really don't like the fact that a gem and Great Sword are both 1 slot items, i was thinking in something like little bags that the character may carry and throw lots of small items there (rings, ammys, gems, runes) and if u want to see what u have in there, right click, like the Cube (but not using the entire screen :P)
And changing topics, sorry, the graphics don't fully satisfy me, i've seen those image, how it looks and how it should look, and some were much better with that dark approach.
That petition that's somewhere in the net, has some good points, but other points that where like: "C'mon, that's just complaining 'cause u're in love with your mother and u can't do nothing about it".
But, if the art stays like it is, i'll get used to it, :offtopic:(goes really **OFF-FORUM** here) i live in Argentina, i've even got used to politician do absolutely nothing, they don't even go to work, and they get paid 15000 a month, that's almost 200000 a year (15k * 12 is 180k, but they have bonuses), for doing nothing (sorry.. terribly **OFF-FORUM**)
My opinion, feel free to insult me, i don't care, it's just an opinion
I agree with both sides of the argument. Firstly yes i do think blizz should make it more Diablo original, but it is just smarter to use the WoW bag system.
IT seems to me that some of you dont want diablo 3 you just want another expansion to d2. d2 changed alot from d1 and for the better so why dont you think that d3 will be alot better than d2 in the aspects they will change. i hated only being able 2 have 2 vertical rows open to pick up items while mfind with hdin or doing baal runs , i hate not being able to look in detail at the monsters in d3 there really detailed and grisly in d2 most of them are blobs , accept change for the better and stop bitching about anything thats different from d2
So what your saying is, you want Diablo 3 to be an isometric, randomly generated loot, quick paced and cooperative version of Wow. Well thats what youve got. A complete disaster. Blizzard are so in love with their homosexual WoW that its tainted my beloved Diablo series. And people like you are just sitting there aplauding them along the way.
Really, why dont you just play Warcraft 3? thats isometric Warcraft. why do people like you have to jump on the Diablo band wagon?
I don't understand this. Because of a different inventory system (which I don't like too much either), you think the game is more WoW than Diablo (which it is sooooo not)? Stop whining. The gameplay is still VERY much like the previous Diablo games. If the gameplay isn't what you care about, then why do you play games? To look at the inventory?

Please don't sign that ridiculous art direction petition. I've waited eight long years for Diablo III, not for another Diablo II expansion. And shut up about the Necromancer being gone. Diablo II didn't have any of the same classes as the first game (except for Sorcerer/Sorceress).
I know it's not going to happen, but here's what I'd like to see.
Keep the basic inventory from Diablo 2, where items take up space depending on their size, but let you open up town portals and just throw items into town without leaving. Then you deal with them later in some kind of vault. You can't take items out from that vault unless you are in town.
Also, I would like to see tons and tons of vault space. I really don't get what the gameplay fun of having such limited space is. It just gets tons of people to create mule characters and holds up gameplay.
Why does everything ultimately get compared to WoW at the end of the Day? You people have made WoW a god and the ultimate medium to which all other rpg games must get compared to. It's funny because when LotRO was first revealed everyone was like "Omg, a horrible WoW rip-off". With Warhammer Online everyone's first opinion is "Wtf!!? a crappy WoW clone." now with Diablo 3 it's the same "This is DiabloCraft III!!!" A Developer nowadays can't make a game without fans comparing it to WoW. It's a shame, really. If it's not extreme pitch-black darkness of colorless, vile, barf-eating barf, then it's goes back to being WoW by default. The barb's shoulder plates conceptually have to be big. He doesn't wear a chest-plate, so his shoulder pad's are abnormally big to compensate and protect his torso. But no-one's realized that. The first observation is....of course... WOW!
Will people stop worrying about something so insignificant like the inventory, and on the better parts of the demo?
Early skills that don't go up to 20. I Can't express how happy I am with this.
Why would any barbarian have level 20 leap, when he can have level 20 leap attack. Or a sorceress with fire bolt instead of fire blast (except for the synergies)
This will make the game a lot more linear in the early stage, which is needed imo, with customisation later on, once you have had time to experience the game.
Runes seem pretty basic, which is good (way too much emphasis on the crazy runewords after the patch), but star gems may replace them, in a simpler way.
I think runes will work in the same way as gems, and there will possibly be runeword or rune-gem word comibinations, but they won't be so biased towards the high-skill players.
Instead of the 30 something runes there were, now we have ones like lethality, vitality, power, and varying levels of this; minor, moderate, mega (or something)
Lethality might be the equivalent of bleeding/open wounds in D2 Vitality might be life steal in a weapon, +vitality in a helmet etc.
Power Power Lethality might be something, but depending on the strengths of the runes used, will depend on the effectiveness of the runeword.
Also just saw the final boss in the demo dropped an Amulet. Maybe medallions are what charms have become

Nice notice. I think only way runes should be in game is this type of thing. No more full runeword items, but power up your existing ones and maybe with right combination you could get some sort of bonus(not too OP tho)
Bags existed in the time of sanctuary, thus it exists in D3. I cant think of any other way they could implement the same thing. For I am sure other people will have some kind of problem with that too.
Calm down, the inventory is fine although your ideas and oppinions do count, there just shouldnt be so much talk of how things are WoWish....Bags are a good idea and I like the new inventory system.

Return to the roots of the game to discover what D3 truly needs to be the only new-age action-RGP since D2.
The inv is much better with a one slot item. More stuff can be held and it is much more logical. Notice that the item prices are still the same as D2 and LOD I like that. But will the cash be actually worth something? The answer is proooooobably not, but we will see.
Much more LOGICAL?
Are you kidding me?
So you're saying we should be able to fit 30 halberds in our backpack, instead of 5-6 because of a LOGICAL grid-based inventory?
Don't kid yourself.

It may still be fun, but it will be World of Diablo.
In a logical sense, yes it would make more sense that items of larger size would take up more inventory space. No, it does not make logical sense that someone could fit an item like a halberd in a back pack. . . At all. Making the game less convenient for the sake of some sense of realism is a bit odd to me. The new inventory/bag setup will make it where you can carry more items, meaning less town trips, meaning more gold per trip that can be earned. Everything about the new system is pro pro pro. The only con to it is people arguing that it's too wow like or it's unrealistic. Hey, if I wanted it to be realistic, I'd go play a video game where I'm not gunning down hordes of demons with fireballs. I want the game to be fun and with as little down time as possible. All this fear mongering about it being like wow is just ridiculous.
