I can't wait for everyone that believes Diablo is dead, just because of Blizzard North fizzled out, are proven wrong.
IMO - disbanding Blizzard North and moving that team to the Blizzard main base was the best move they made - you will see that Diablo III will be LEAPS and BOUNDS past Diablo 1 and 2. Nowadays, Blizzard probably doesn't want just a better Diablo game than the last from Blizzard North, they want something EPIC.
Maybe cause i'm a newly "registered" user, or some other reason but I am unable to create my own thread. I didn't know where else to post this news, so I decided to try here. That being said,,, what do you guys think the immediate reason would be for this, and what do you think this means for Activision/Blizzard/Vivendi in the long run? Here's the news snippet:
Blizzard is holding its OWN press conference on the first day of E3, I believe. I'm not quite sure how to take this news, but in trying to put a somewhat positive spin on it, I'll go right down that path saying they're gonna announce Diablo3 at this press event. We can dream, right?
A strange move. Could a game rated Mature be the cause for such decision?
Or maybe Activision Blizzard plans to launch their own ESA version the way they now have their own BlizzCon and WWI apart from E3, TGS-like events.

Negative, there's nothing against Mature rated games being present at E3. Especially since E3 has gone "invitation-only" the past couple years. Besides, the ESA fights for gaming rights and would hardly impose restrictions like that on their comrades. Keep in mind, this is more than just pulling out of this year's E3; they've completely dropped their membership in the ESA altogether. I've been digging around, but since the news is still fresh there's mostly only speculation. It seems a few publishers are pulling out of ESA and/or E3, possibly due to poor relations between investors and dissatisfaction with the ESA's current president. Either way, it'll be interesting to see what this means for Act/Bliz and the gaming community in general.

"The most tragic thing about religion is that evangelical people who have such a degree of blind faith, who do and believe terrible things because they are sold as the will of God. Unfortunately this is almost half of America and leads to such things as electing George Bush, twice..."
I am so tired of this, guys. We all know what the "Top-Secret" game is. If they were working on something really new and original (Blizzard? Working on something new & original? Now that's odd...), which I am sure they aren't, they would not call it a "Top-Secret" game. "Top-Secret" is just a tease, for a title which has a very strong fan-base. No one would like to tease you with something you don't know or care about. Blizz has four important IPs with strong fan bases. First, Warcraft (RTS). Since they are working on Starcraft2, so we won't be seeing Warcraft 4 in a very long time. Second, Starcraft. A sequel is already in the making. Fourth, WoW. WotLK is already in the making, and WoW2 is very, very unlikely. All I can think about is the third option. All of you know what that option is. No need to mention what happened to Diablo3.com, just a few days ago.
@gyrextt
I don't know what you meant by "usually", but as far as I know those guys don't like to do that. Have you forgotten about Seoul? I was anxiously waiting for Starcraft2, and all I got was a rumor in a Korean website, translated by Google. I would like a major announcement as much as the next guy, but I don't think its gonna happen.

yeah, if we hear something it will be in the next few weeks.
I think someone was complaining about how if Diablo is released as an MMO sometime soon, WoW would lose money or something. I have some responses
1) If WoW lost money to Diablo, it would only be losing it to the same company, so they really wouldn't be losing any at all (unless Diablo was free.)
2) People happily play both franchises (myself excluded- I hate WoW, it's crap.) While that may change considering how you pay 15 bucks a month for WoW and then on top of that an added fee if the next Diablo were p2p, people would still choose one or the other if they weren't able to do both.

Your 1st statement saying Blizz wouldnt lose money if WoW plarers played a new D2 instead of WoW is not correct. While they would be bringing in the same money as before, they will be losing money because of the costs to make the other game. SO if they spend 10 million bucks on a new Diablo today while WoW was running strong and half the WoW plarers switched to the new Diablo, they in fact would be worse off.
Now if WoW was dieing then yes they would need something to hold their customers form playing a game with another company.
About people playing both games...well if they are both PTP then most wont pay for both. I read an article about that and it said about 76% of game subcribers only subscribe to one game.
A lot of people wouldnt play both especially now with the economy so bad..but then again idk. Gamer nerds do crazy things..

Well, I could even talk seriously and personally about sex without saying something akin to, "My girlfriend and I have had sexual intercourse not once, not twice, but thrice. During these times I had inserted my penis in and out of her vagina and ejaculated accordingly. I gently sobbed afterwards while she held me in her arms. This has all brought us closer together."
It might be just me but does anyone else think that Blizzard is spending most of their time with WOW.
Before WOW was released the last game made by them was for Warcraft 4. Then after WOW they made some expansions to it and finally they came out with Starcraft 2 plus another expansion for WOW.
Yes WOW is really popular but what about the fans that like Diablo and Starcraft.

It was moved to the Diablo 2 forum.

Activision and Vivendi Games has discontinued its membership with the Entertainment Software Association. This information comes in the wake of yesterday's announcement that Activision and Vivendi would not attend E3 this year.
