Ever wanted to contribute something to the wiki, but were unwilling to take the plunge into actual editing? Well, now's your chance. With the new skill page template being finalized, I'm starting to implement it onto the skill pages themselves. This means that we'll be needing screenshots for every active skill to add to the page. This is where you, the user, comes in. All you need to do in order to help us out with getting all the different screenshots we'll be needing is play Diablo II! As you're playing, feel free to snap a few screenshots and upload them to the wiki, and they'll appear on their respective pages.
To take a screenshot:
While playing D2, simply press the Print Screen button on your keyboard, and the game will automatically save the screenshot to your Diablo 2 folder.
A few guidelines:
All aspects of a given skill should be visible in the screenshot. For example, a screenshot of Meteor should include both a burning patch on the ground and the meteor itself falling from the sky.
Make the screenshots action-packed. No one wants to see a screenshot of a Hurricane destroying an empty waypoint. Make sure some monsters are getting caught up in the action, but also make sure the skill itself is still clearly visible.
Make sure that your minimap is hidden when you take the screenshot, and try to vary the locations where your screenshots take place.
After taking the screenshot, use a photo editing program such as Paint or Photoshop to remove the UI (health/mana globes and down) from the screenshot.
Uploading your screenshot to the wiki:
This will probably be the most intimidating part of the process for most people, but it's really not so scary. I promise.
Click the Browse button to the right of the "Source Filename" field, and find your file.
Change the "Destination Filename" to comply with the following template:
Skill Name Screen (Diablo II).jpg
In the "Summary" field, add the following (including the double brackets):
[[Category:Diablo_II_Skill_Screenshots]]
Now click "Upload File" and you're done!
If you're wondering what skills have screenshots already uploaded, you can check Category:Diablo_II_Skill_Screenshots. If the screenshot you want to upload has already been uploaded, just suffix "Screen" in the destination filename with a number (ex: Bone Spear Screen2 (Diablo II).jpg). While only one screenshot will be present in the article proper, additional screenshots will be added as a gallery at the bottom of the page.
