which is 24 x 40%, no matter how we calculate it, that still should be more damage then just two 50s, yet i get a large decrease of damage from the switch, now keep in mind that everything for both builds are the exact same!, except that i switched the control impairing reduction options for the extra discipline on each ring!, other then that they are both the exact same, and for the sake of this example, i decreased the sharp shooter bonus and bane of the stricken stacks to 0 for both examples, please let me know if this is as messed up as i see it to be, or please explain to me how im wrong.
I didn't bother to finish reading bwcause you were wrong from the start....the F&R rings are MULTIPLICATIVE, that's not how their bonus is being calculated....you even have the details to show this in your char planner. The F&R bonus = 50%*50%= 125% or 2.25 multiplier. This also gets multiplied to your other multipliers. For your example, 3440% + 3440% * 125% or 3440% * 2.25
I think the reason is, that the discipline points are only additive in nature whereas F&R multiplies your damage.
In your example only discipline: 110 * 40 = 4400 %
In your example with F&R: 86 * 40 * 1.5 * 1.5 = 7740 %
F&R upps the damage by 1.5 * 1.5 which equals a multiplicative factor of 2.25! You can bet that someone of the pros (and possibly non-pros) already calculated different build setups including one with increasing discipline points. The only real alternative for an UE Demonhunter is the Endless Walk Set (Compass Rose and Travelers Pledge) which is about on par with F&R concerning the damage. It's slightly weaker but has some other advantages. There are comments in the discussion area of the UE build.
The Endless Walk set paired with a stone of jordan is actually better than F&R, because SoJ also gives discipline. F&R setup = 3440 × 2.25 = 7740% vs Endless Walk setup = 3920 × 2 = 7840%. It's slightly better but harder to maintain full uptime of the whole bonus, which is why most preffer F&R. But endless walk does give you some dmg reduction, it's all about personal prefference.
