I remember before that "black" damage was the best weapon damage, because that meant it used 100% of any weapon damage that was in skills, if I'm not mistaken.
But a friend of mines that Blizz normalized this, I have a few scenario questions I'd like to know if you can clear up for me.

Example 1:
http://us.battle.net/d3/en/item/schaefers-hammer
1204–1323 Lightning Damage
Primary0.90 Attacks per Second
Lightning skills deal 20–25% more damage.
Using this weapon with Blessed Hammer, no rune:Blessed Hammer
SecondaryCost: 10 Wrath
Summon a blessed hammer that spins around you, dealing 320% weapon damage as Holy to all enemies hit.
Even thought the weapon is pure lightning damage, and this skill is Holy damage, does it just ignore the weapon damage, and do all the damage as holy?
Now what if the ability did 320% damage as Lightning, with the same pure lightning damage weapon, will the ability gain and extra damage boost?
If the answer is that the damage completely converted to what the ability is, what is the point of Elemental weapon damage?
