The case with SICK is somewhat special. This clan grew with the forums and actually help build this place. It's part of DiabloFans history and it was already affiliated to this forum since the begining. It should stay that way, but this does not exclude the presence of other clans. To me, SICK is a prestigious clan simply because it was there before D3 was revealed and it was there at the very start of this community. It should therefore be the dominant clan. If a clan gets better than SICK, I'm all for it, it's "natural selection" and everything is in order.
If I were to choose between a newly formed clan and clan SICK, I would choose without hesitation SICK. Now, if you want to choose something else, it's your choice. But don't come crying back to me saying that the clan leaders stole all your gear and called you a brat as we do not take traitors among our ranks .... NAHHHHH just kidding man, we're gonna be a cool clan and welcome you with open arms.
Well, I hope I made my point clear ^_^.
Really, i'd just prefer there to be no single clan sub-forum like what SICK had, rather a forum in which multiple clans had their own threads or even just a guild recruitment forum leading to other websites. It's so irresponsible to hand over a chunk of a website to a separate entity.
If the website hosts a guild, it's obviously affiliated with it. Anyway, it doesn't matter if the idea has been fermenting for years and years, manure will smell like manure whenever revisited. Also, if framing members to join a clan by providing that group with its own built-in means of advertising is the only conceivable idea in relation to encouraging those same players to play a game, then the sky is bright bubble-gum pink and trees are made from pastry dough.

I think it would be a much more sensible idea to create a guild recruitment forum, rather than just create a clan and let it dominate. That way people make their own websites and communities instead of leeching off that of others and this website's members are encouraged to play diablo.
I can understand the incentive to create a website guild, but to literally just allow one to act as a parasite infecting this website is neglectful. The only reason why people would join it is because it's here and they'd probably see it as a way to better themselves within the community. Also, rationalizing a guild forum based on the fact that every subject deserves its own subdivision is completely immature and not well thought out at all. I was the person to originally start an art thread in the general forum on the older website, it grew to have so many posts that admins considered it useful to create a forum; that's how blocking should work.
I am not trying to be a negative-nancy, nor am I trying to be overly aggressive, but creating a guild just because it seems like a fashionable idea is very irresponsible.
Silver might, but he left in a rage so I don't know how people will feel about following him again. Maybe his older friends will return and they'll work from there. We might have another big clan coming on the scene here soon(c), though
To be honest, I do not think it's very sportsmanlike to house a guild within a more news-related website, like the previous situation regarding sick. It usually just establishes factions and wrongly encourages people to join said guild, especially as the media can work to that guild's advantage.
For me, coming back to this website in early 2006, after having its name change as an initial shock, I was severely disappointed in the addition of clan sick, because most everything inevitably centered around it at the time. This place is more about a community related to Diablo, not a guild that plays the game and just happens to report stuff about it.
In essence, my opinion is that if one is interested in establishing or joining a guild and participating with its members outside of a game, keep it separate from places like this.
