Does anyone know in what way the Worldstone shields Sanctuary? Is it by hiding the location of Sanctuary or simply just preventing powerful beings like the Prime Evils and the Angiris Council from being in Sanctuary easily? If it's the first what would be the point of waiting until the Worldstone was destroyed to launch a mass invasion of Sanctuary, since both Heaven and Hell already know where it is? If it's the second, why were the angels and demons able to invade in the Sin War, and both Lucion and Lilith had no trouble staying in Sanctuary, same for the 3 Prime Evils before they were captured by the Horadrim?
I think that when Inarius sucked it`s power he altered it, or I may be wrong. Nonetheless I recall for sure that Inarius saw the alteration, it was like a core alteration(the very structure of the elements was changed) not like Inarius or Lilith.
And at the end, Mephisto and the Council make a deal about it but it`s not writen what it is. I assume that they altere it so the nephalem `s powers grow more slowly like before Lilith changed it.
And finaly some1 who thinks like me. Thje heroes in D2(and posibly in D1, or atleast the wanderer) are humans with growing nephalem powers.
Yeah, Uldyssian changed the very essence of the Worldstone, and even Inarius couldn't undo it.
I have a question about the Worldstone. In the 2nd Sin War book, Uldyssian changes it to give the nephelam more power, but it was never reversed even by the end of the 3rd book, so why has the Worldstone being draining their nephelam powers away?
Can anyone clarify what Inarius did to Lilith at the end? Did he cast her back into the void? And did anyone find that final fight with Lilith at bit underwhelming, I'd except her to be more powerful.
I just started reading the Sin War trilogy, I would like to know geographically where Seram is located. Also, is it said in the novels or only hinted at?
Are the Durance of Hate, the Guardian Tower, the Temple of Light, and the Ruins of Mephisto's Temples, just different names for the same place?
They have all been referred to as the place that Mephisto was imprisoned in (except the last one), respectively, in the zone map, the quest log, the Act 3 cimematic (referred to by Tyrael), and the map of Sanctuary in the D2 manual.
As Imperium said earlier, the soulstones act as anchors for the demon spirit, since they are not very powerful without a corporeal form which they could have by posessing a host. Be that as it may, no corporeal form is invulnerable to corporeal weapons. So, as a precaution, the Prime Evils sought to corrupt Izual to convince Tyrael to give them soulstones, so that IF they are to be destroyed, they would still be bound to the world of Sanctuary.
I think that is why Blizzard can take liberties with the design of the Prime Evils, since their demon forms are not very definite (Diablo kept taking the form of the viewers' fear each time he showed himself), and we don't actually know how each would look like (Mephisto looked really cool!).
From the manual the Soulstones were used to imprison the Prime Evils, so they also bind them to Sanctuary, when killed? Does it say, or imply this somewhere?
The soulstone binds the Prime Evil. Once killed it returns to the soulstone, and can then be placed into another host. As evident by the Wanderer. The prior host was Albrecht.
Cain is no doubt refering to this fact. If you do not destroy the soulstone with Mephisto's essence inside, it is possible that the stone could become lodged in a new host's body. And Mephisto would once again walk the earth.
Destroying the soulstone at the hellforge will send his essence or spirit to the Black Abyss (coincidently where it was spawned) so it cannot return (until D3)
Ahh, that makes sense. Why would the warrior from D1 jam the Soulstone into his head? Wouldn't it be more sensible to just leave Diablo's Soulstone, there so that Diablo is trapped inside it?
Normaly demons need some1 for there host. THey can`t actualy come in physical[or even spirit, the lesser ones] form in the human world. So when a demon is killed in the human world, his host is killed and the demon is sent back to Hell.
I think in the Diablo universe it is the same. But a powerfull demon like Diablo would need not only a host. The soulstones do the job of an anchor. When we kill Diablo in hell, he is still bound to Sanctuary. We don`t kill his true form but only destroy the link. That`s why Cain says"Only by doing this can you prevent Mephisto from manifesting in this world ever again" and not "... you will destroy..."
I see, so its only because you kill the demon's host, and not the actual spirit that they are banished to Hell? Wouldn't that mean Andariel is still alive in Hell. So demons get sent back to the Abyss if they are killed in Hell?
Also, I thought the purpose of the Soulstone is to imprison the Prime Evils, and not to bind them to Sanctuary.
I have some questions on the way death is handled in Diablo. In Act 2, in Drognan's introduction speech he says, "I've heard that you are responsible for banishing Andariel back to the Burning Hells." Does this mean that whenever demons are killed on Sanctuary, they don't actually die, they just get sent back to Hell?
And what if they get killed in Hell, are they dead then?
For example, Diablo was killed in Hell, but he was only banished back into the Abyss when his Soulstone was destroyed.
Cain also says "Take the Stone to the Hellforge. Place it upon the forge and strike it soundly with the Hammer. Only by doing this can you prevent Mephisto from manifesting in this world ever again." How does destroying the Soulstone do this, when in the D1 manual, it explains that "Any non-physical entities caught within this vacuum are drawn into the burning recesses of the Soulstone and are forever trapped within. These spirits are released only when the Soulstone is deactivated or destroyed", which says whatever is imprisoned in the Soulstone gets released when its destroyed.
Sorry for all the questions. Its quite confusing.

I hope she's still alive, she's such an awesome character.

On page 75, it explains armor, gold, and jewelry, then on page 78 is the "Long Road's End" poem, and page 80 is the map.
Oh wellz.
However I can't find this in my D2 manual. Is it suppose to be there? Is it only on certain prints of the manual?
