Well the stones whisper to people because they're evil. I believe it happened to Lazarus and a few other people. So to leave a stone like that laying around for anyone to take hold of seems like a bad idea.
As for why he felt he needed to put it into his head, my guess is that if left unattended maybe the demonic energy would seep out into the surroundings and affect others. So he used himself to contain the demonic energy but it was too much for him in the end.
okay here is my question-
in a lore book i read Heaven and Hell were always evenly matched. so how did the Angels match the Demons if the Demons have larger numbers+the Seven Evils? Did the Angles have like a super powerful God dude or something? Is the Angiris Counsel a huge step up in power than an Arch-Angel?
There is no "God" no, but yes the Angiris Council is far more powerful than regular angels and arch angels is my understanding.
why did mephisto hate Inarius so much? what did he do to piss of the 3 prime evils so much that they would strike a deal with the angels so they could torture him? Sry if this was alrdy answered 40 pages is alot to read.
Well Inarius was with Lilith, wasn't that like Mephistos Daughter or something? I don't feel like checking right at this moment.
I know I made a thread on this but I thought maybe I could get a more direct simple answer here, if not then I guess the thread is my best bet. Anyway...
What happened to the shards of all the soulstones? They were all shattered. I mean BEFORE being destroyed on the hellforge. Only pieces of them were destroyed on the forge.
I think they put themselves in a position with the storyline they kind of HAD to choose a prevalent adventurer against Diablo as one of them had to have the soulstone for the D2 cinematics.
I think in D3 they will avoid naming one specific hero even more so.
I used to think that I read that Diablo is the strongest of the Three, while Mephisto is the eldest. But now I cant find the quote to support myself, so I'll just assume that I read wrong. Or maybe I was just thinking of that quote from Astrogha. I dunno, its debatable. He may be slightly stronger than the others, but likely not by much.
Thats kind of how I think the angiris council is also. They all have slightly different levels of power, but are pretty much equal.
Maybe but Astrogha is a favored pet of Diablo so that's pretty much a biased point of view.
Well who's point of view is that written in? Because Astrogha would be referring to himself as a different entity (third person right?) if he wrote it.
Their essences are immortal...hence..cannot be killed. They can only be sent to the Abyss (where they come from) or to the Void (which is described as complete nothingness (but they can return from that as well like we see with Lilith.
Lilith came back?
Are you talking about when you kill her on Bnet on D2? I heard that wasn't canon.

Somehow it all balances out.

He was a white male and carried a sword.

Well if its from a outside party writing it why would they really lie about it?
I always assumed Diablo was the most powerful anyway, maybe not by a ton, but some.

Wonder where the soulstones actually came from, I know Tyrael gave them to the Horadrim.
Some people think they were part of the worldstone, but I'm not so sure.
I mean they were all different colors right? The worldstone was all red.
Unless that's just a plothole.
