When you run archon spec, you have to kill monsters fast, in order to keep up archon time. This means lots health globes, which in my opinion makes Life after Kill close to worthless for this build.
Have you even tried life after kill before making that statement? As I've said, it's not as reliable as LS or high LoH, but it's still a workable alternative for people unable to find or unable to buy LS/LoH weapons. I've personally ran about 2,000 LAK in the past when I didn't have my LS Echoing Fury and it worked wonders for my perma-Archon build against Reflect and other troublesome mobs.
Again, while LS is the best option for Archon, with high LOH a close second, many people forget that LAK (life after kill) is another route to go. It's not as reliable, but if you're fighting a troublesome Reflect mob, all you need to do is shift to the side, stomp a bunch of trash mobs to instant heal, and continue fighting the Reflect mob.
What do you guys use for your second +movespeed item? I'm guessing it comes down to either Tyrael's Might or Lacuni Prowlers. Tyrael's seems like the better choice to me, due to the bonus to demons and that its significantly cheaper. But just looking at a few profiles (Aesthia in particular) it seems like Lacuni is better if you can afford it.
Inna's Temperance, the monk pants, also works. It comes with 1% crit, 8-9% attack speed, 12% movement speed, and 2 sockets base. The only downside is you don't have a lot of options for the random stat. It's just one roll with no base Int so it's basically either Int or Int/vit. They're also pretty cheap now so you can get more dps out of these pants+normal bracers with crit%, assuming you have a lot of crit damage. If you have the money for crit prowlers, that will give more dps than rare bracers, of course, but costs more than the set pants.
Just for a comparison, I used to have 180 int/180 vit/70 all resist/2 socket Depth Diggers pants before I switched to my current Inna's Temperance. Even though I lost a hefty amount of EHP (about 60K, if I remember correctly), I did gain over 20K DPS and fully capped out my movement speed.
The difference? I sold the Depth Diggers for 400M and bought the Inna's Temperance at 550M, which was still a ton of extra gold from my side. It's really hard to find Inna's Temperance for wizards if you want decent vitality, good int, and maximum attack speed. A better pair of Lacuni's is my next target... though I have no gold for it at the moment since I just geared up my monk
I'm not entirely sure about the worthiness of Tyrael's Might. A good set with 3 sockets and great int won't come cheap, especially when you throw something like all resist in there. I'd rather get the huge DPS boost from Inna's.
Jaetch, what's the maximum MP you can feel 'comfortable' at with your stats?
I farm MP3-4 with the most efficiency and I think many decently to well-geared players (all classes) can attest to this. I can run Archon fairly well in MP5 and it starts to fail somewhat in MP6-7. Not that I die often in MP6-7, Archon just doesn't stay up.
I wonder how CM + Arcane Destruction Archon spam in high MP will work... Unfortunately I don't run AP on crit so I can't really test that out.
I feel it's really worth considering the Teleport rune for Archon. Not only does it allow you to move through an area a little faster but it gives a little bit extra survivability for higher MP levels, like if you're raising the MP to get more keys, instead of keeping it low to just 1 shot everything. Also the Illusionist passive works on the Archon Teleport, which raises survivability even more. I find it extremely useful for the Act 3 keywarden.
I vouch for that. I've been running Teleport for a while. Combine it with maximum move speed, the uptime for Archon will outlast all the buffs. MP3 is pretty standard right now for farming purposes for most classes, though higher DPS can do up to MP7 without too many headaches.
I wonder how 300k dps wizard deal with reflect dmg at mp 7 for example, some of them dont have neither lifesteal nor loh o.0
A lot of Archons that don't run life on hit, life steal, and or life after kill use Diamond Skin to cope. They cancel out of Archon and use conventional kiting tactics to get things done.
Try "Life After Kill" stats. It actually works surprisingly well given that your main goal in Archon form is to kill as much as you possibly can.
LAK tends to be far cheaper than LOH items, as well. It's how I personally deal with Reflect mobs. I don't run any life leech or LOH, but I always have spare mobs (or extra health globes) nearby to kill and quick-heal when I find myself against Reflect.
Edit: I run both LAK and life steal now. Works like a charm.
Act 2 - Vault of the Assassin, the Ruins (sometimes), the Realms in Kulle's archives are some usable areas.
But those are just simply not ideal. Maybe if you run Teleport Archon with max movement speed and a few lucky Fleeting Shrines can aid in the uptime.
