I have absolutely no clue where you got your absurd idea that the monk class has any influence at all from the Eastern Orthodox religion.
From his style of clothing, weapon of choice, facial features and the wild beard he is clearly from the northern branch of the Shaolin temples in China, heavily influenced by the legendary fictional hero Lu Zhishen from the Chinese classic literature Water Margin.
