From my experience being in a group resulted in better loot dropping more often. I had an average of 1400 DPS at level 45, after but an hour with two of my friends I had gotten better drops than ever before, resulting in my DPS rising to about 2000.
Could be a coincidence, of course.
Decided to dig my teeth into Europa Universalis 3 a week ago or so, it's eerily addicting. Playing as a European country and attempting a military expansion can be extremely difficult though if you got one of the more powerful countries breathing down your neck, so after a few attempts I came to the conclusion that the Ottoman Empire was a nice fit, it had a good starting position as well as good expansion possibilities. Now the annoying thing is that in EU3 there's a system called Infamy which is there to prevent you from becoming a warlord and taking over the world in the blink of an eye, basically what it does is if you go to war and you're winning you will gain Infamy if you decide to do anything other than declare a white peace or force your enemies to concede defeat, and if you're Infamy is too high every single country in the world will gain a Casus Belli on you, which is a reason to go to war. This is really, really bad especially if you got the entirety of Europa clawing at you in the east as Ottoman.
So basically what ended up happening is that I had Hungary, Poland, Austria and Bohemia alongside several smaller countries all declaring war on me at the same time, not surprisingly I ended up losing hard.
It's a fun game, even though some countries seem to exist especially to make your life as miserable as possible.
This was my empire before I decided to create a new game, it was pretty fun. The only real problem I have with the Ottomans are that you can't really do any important National Decisions. National Decisions are essentially goals that have certain requirements to do, for example you can form Germany or Russia but you need the proper provinces and some other good stuff in order to accomplish it.
There are a few interesting things you can do with Europe, however. And that is as I mentioned before, forming Germany or uniting the Holy Roman Empire. Essentially the entirety of Europe except France, England, Poland-Lithuania are a part of the HRE, and forming it is the ultimate goal you can reach as a European country that's a part of the HRE. If you form the HRE, and it succeeds, you will gain control of all the countries that decide to join you, and a lot of them will. The interesting thing is that all those countries in Europe are self sufficient, it might not sound impressive to you, but if you gain control of ~30 nations that are all self sufficient your economy will boom something ferociously and will most likely make you the big superpower in the west, and when that happens you can more or less force smaller countries into becoming your vassals.
I've had a disease with a very long name for the past week, and so I finally got some penicillin. Now the good news is that I got an excuse to not take a step outside of my room since it's so damn sunny outside all the time.
Man, Diablo 3 is such a letdown. The story was nonsensical with stupid plot twists that makes no sense. The gameplay is solid but god fucking damn if the maps aren't tedious. Yes, the first playthrough was good but without randomized maps every single playthrough after that gets extremely fucking repetitive.
And the balance, my fucking god the balance. The "all builds are viable" approach they wanted to take clearly didn't work out since there are about three viable builds per class.
Yes, I'm disappointed and yes I'm pretty god damned mad.
its open beta, obviously youre gonna have lagspikes
game was fluent for me during about all of close beta tho!
It's not as much as us having lagspikes in the beta, but us having lagspikes when playing singleplayer.
Personally, I'm very much against the DRM policy Blizzard have been adopting. No, it won't stop pirates. It'll only harm the paying consumers.
Hoo, man. That was a relatively fun beta. Got all classes to 13 and whatnot. Just lacking that one co-op achievement where I need to ress my pal five times over.
Right, to the point at hand. A few things annoyed me in the beta, for example the fact that if you tried to skip an in-game cutscene then you'd be awarded with a black screen that was just as long, if not longer, than the actual cutscene itself! Brilliant game design.
Then we had the fact that even the singleplayer component is considered online, which is hosted on their servers, which also means that if I have a poor internet connection, I'll actually lag in a singleplayer game! Of course this is probably because the beta was hosted on the American side rather than the Europe. But still, it ticks me off.
The mercenary smalltalk was a nice touch, though it got extremely repetitive after a short while, especially considering he had the exact same response and questions no matter what class or gender you were.
The actually terrain and what you'd consider the "background" of the game was muddy, without any clear lines or context. This lead to a greater focus on the things you actually could see, such as the glowing enemies. Both positive and negative. Mostly negative.
Witch Doctor was fun though, as was Monk. Though I noticed a few issues with the pathfinding for the runed Fists of Thunder attack. Exploding Palm was extremely underwhelming as well. As was the giant bell.
The Demon Hunter reminded me, annoyingly enough, of the Hunter class from World of WarCraft. They both had the same feel to them. Boring, bland and dull.
All in all, it's what you'd expect from a hype demo. The pacing bothered me though. Unless it picks up in later acts, otherwise it's going to be a problem.
Skyrim got some mixed visuals. On one hand they got some damn fine "ambient" graphics in lack of a better explanation. On the other hand the textures themselves look fucking terrible even on the highest settings. There are a few mods out now that improve the graphical quality tremendously. Still, I think it's a bit lazy of the devs to release an unfinished game just so they could hit the 11/11/11 date.
Thankfully, they have the community to polish it up for them, again. As usual.
