The engineering programs at my school are all technically 4 year programs, but if you want a job when you graduate, it is good to get an internship or a coop, which will probably make your degree take 5 years.
I always thought that it would be a good idea just to spread everybody out. Like, I have this idea that works off of The Giver where there are communities separated by a few miles of road to allow for alternative energy sources to be implemented. Like, for example:
And these communities can be about medium sized. Large enough to accommodate a good amount of people, but small enough so that combinations of alternative energy can be practical enough to provide power for the whole community. Each community has their own power grid so if one community loses power due to natural calamities, other communities retain power. Also, this would allow for technicians to operate more efficiently in the face of a total power outage.
Wind power is highly overrated as it is extremely unpractical as a main power source. Wind power without a stable power source, such as coal or nuclear plants, will have frequent power outages and if you want each community to be on its own power grid, then having a coal or nuclear plant in each town is also unpractical. Solar would not be much better and as for hydro, in order for this plan to work, you would have to dam an insane amount of rivers, which would fuck up the environment, and a drought would deplete not only water but power from any nearby communities.
The main benefit of our current power grid is its reliability. If everybody decides they want to turn on a light at the same time, the power grid will be okay, however if each town were to be on an independent grid this reliability goes away and people either need to be told how much energy they can use during which times, or there has to be a large amount of excess power being produced.
I just think it's crazy that so much can be accomplished with alternative energy. I hope I can at least see some advancement in my lifetime. We need to lose our hard-on for foreign oil and fossil fuels.
I don't think it can really be described as a hard on, when we choose the most practical choice. Solar, wind and hydro are all nice additions to our energy production, however they cannot be the backbone of our power supply. Due to the media, people hate nuclear power, so coal is really our only current option. Its awful from an environmental standpoint but when it comes to environment vs having a stable power supply, people choose the latter.
The same can be said for oil, it is currently the best option. Hybrid cars are a great thing, but they are only a temporary fix to the problem and so far no better fuel has been created. Ethanol is a joke, solar cars are not practical, electric cars are great for short distances, but can't go very far and hydrogen fuel cell technology isn't there yet. And having a dependency on foreign oil is not necessarily a bad thing, we live in a global market, countries are dependent on each other it is the way the current world works. The real reason why people hate foreign oil is the media always spins stories to make it seem like OPEC is all powerful, but in reality the country we import the most oil from is Canada, followed by Mexico.
I think your ideas would make more since in an ideal world, but thinking about an ideal world is useless and boring.
He only posted in the treasure thread recently. Even the malevolent king of Hippos posts more often than him.
If it goes like that the kingdom shall be overrun. Hopefully the enemies of the throne won't notice the weakness in our defenses just yet.
Although if you thought you had an enemy, and they haven't overrun you yet, then they are probably not your enemy. Or they are just really sneaky.
But since you mentioned it, you should all try to guess the treasure. I don't want to be stuck being the treasure long enough that I forget the password.
As for Siaynoq's cat (a creature more thought provoking than Schrödinger's cat) my vote goes for tail in an power outlet.
Funny as in strange or funny as in entertaining-you?
Both maybe?
Deleting the old URT does not fall in the entertaining category I am sure...
You shouldn't be so sure.
Thanks for clearing that up because I still remember your idol trolling you somewhere on the forums. It was hilarious indeed. I wish I could find the posts though.
That only goes to further my point that he is a funny guy, although I have to take your word that it was hilarious, because I don't remember the incident that you are talking about.
It was weird, kind of funny though. I don't normally watch grindhouse type films, so it was really weird seeing that much blood while laughing at the dialog.
You better have gotten at least a 6. I mean, you live in the US, if you can't get above a perfect score on a US history test, then I just don't know about you.
I miss having history classes. Stupid AP Euro got me out of any history GEC I would have to take so now if I decide to take one it will be completely worthless credit wise.

Maybe graphic's friend's school is like that.
What is your email address?

I believe a frisbee is how you were killed in your past life as Emil.
