Warick walked toward Bramwell along with the rest of his group I don't understand why don't just kill these bastards.... make life so much damn easier. Warick turned to one of the soldiers next to him "You should have seen how me and that fellow over there took out that dead Riddian general." The soldier stood and stared forward with a stone face. "It's a shame you guys had to show up, we were all just getting ready to behead the man and drink the blood from his freshly slain corpse," Warick lied. "Nothing like fresh blood from a general," he said to the soldier as he licked his lips. The soldier shuddered and slowly moved away from Warick but continued on.
Warick watched as the knives pierced the Riddians flesh, suddenly, though, the Riddian rose as if nothing had happened. And, with demon-like quickness rushed towards Ingis and swiftly knocked him into a tree leaving him helpless at the mercy of the brute and his blade.
"NOOOO!!!!" Warick yelled as he ran as fast as he has ever ran towards the commander and tackled him with enough force to knock the blade out of the Riddians hands. The Riddian threw Warick off of him as if he was nothing more than a mere child. Quickly the Riddian began to scrable for his blade as Warick lay helpless on the ground.
Warick examined the mounted soldier, he appeared to be of higher rank than the rest, "Looks like some sort of officer, perhaps a commander. I bet if we took him out it would shake the morale of the Riddians a bit." Warick said with a smile.
"I can provide a distraction while you take him out stealthily from here. Once hes within about 10 meters, throw your knives" Warick said. He walked out of the bushes as he stood about 40 meters infront of the Riddian. "Not so big without your army are ya you damn coward!!!," Warick yelled at the Riddian officer on the horse. "Now, Come and meet your death!" "Foolish scum. It is you who will perish on this day." The large Riddian growled through clenched teeth as he began to unsheath his sword and charge towards Warick. The Riddian came closer and closer as Warick stood calmly and waited....
"We are not alone!" Warick heard Buliwyf yell from the east of him.
Warick suddenly heard one of his comrades scream in pain and looked over to find Ingis about to be slain by a Riddian attacker, quickly though Ingis countered. I better take out those swordsmen before any more of them try to kill him Warick thought to himself.
"These guys don't know when to stop do they? Very well then, If they wish to die here, I believe I can oblige them." Warick said as he unsheathed his sword and charged toward the swordsman of the Riddian militia.
He met the 1st warrior head on with brutal force, swiftly Warick buried his blade deep into the attackers skull. The attacker hit his knees and Warick kicked him to the ground. Warick quickly charged at the next two attackers. He could quickly tell that these men were more skilled than their unfortunate comrade. The warriors blades clashed and swung wildly towards Warick, he swiftly ducked beneath the would be attacker and skewered him with his blade. He finally stood face to face with one attacker left. The Riddian swung for Waricks leg, but Warick took a step back and beheaded the Riddian soldier. Covered in his enemies blood He quickly made his way toward his fallen comrade. "Brother are you okay?" Warick yelled as he made his way towards Ingis, attempting to protect him.
Warick began collecting the clothes off of the slain soldiers. They certainly got what was coming to themhe said with a slight grin on his face.
"Head to the river"
"You heard the man, lets move." He said as he made his way towards the river with the bloodied and battered clothes of the Riddian soldiers in each arm.
"Very well, then," Warick said as he stood up, "I will gather my things and meet you at the outskirts of Tappas."
Warick walked over to his belongings, picked them up, and started toward the gate to Tappas. As he walked he could remember his grandfathers words to him when he was a young boy in intense training. Speed is key, you must know your opponent as you know yourself. Always remember young Warick, fight smarter, not harder.
"I will not fail you Grandfather." Warick muttered to himself under his breath as he began to visualize how the battle would be.
"What about any prisoners?" Warick inquired. "If any of them are skilled in combat they could be of use to us in future battles," he continued "Also when we assault the western gate, after we kill the guards do you want us to keep a low profile on the way to the gate house or charge in with our swords unsheathed?"
Warick listened to Ingis plan intently. "Sounds good. I didn't know you were on for tactics." Warick said with a grin. "I know what you are thinking, With all this armor on, I will slow you down. Know that my grandfather crafted this armor with the lightest and sturdiest plate he had... he was saving it for my father..." Warick said as he began to think back about the day his parents were mercilessly killed, just like the people of Tappas. I will never let this happen to anyone ever again. He thought of the boy in the church whose father had been killed. No one should have to go through that pain.... by nightfall.. Riddia will pay.
"If I can force them to concentrate their forces there on the bridge, they will be unable to move. But I will need to find a way to take out the archers in the towers above the bridge." Buliwyf said with a look of concern on his face.
"However, this may not be easy alone, a comrade would be welcome." Ingis said as he looked in Waricks direction.
"I guess that's my que." Warick said with a smile on his face. " I would be honored to help you in battle, Brother." Warick said to Ingis. "Im not much of a climber, so you may have to be patient." He said to the rouge, who he knew was far more experienced in situations like this. "Are we talking more of a stealthy approach or killing everything in sight?" Warick inquired
"Yes I understand, we will get revenge though, mark my words" Warick said to Buliwyf as he exited the church.
"Warrick, looks like we won't be attacking Riddia. Thought I thank you for standing beside me, I'll have to make sure to watch your back more often."
"They will meet their deaths soon enough, and I promise you, they will be slaughtered in the most beautifully brutal way possible. And I would be honered to have you as a friend, no, a fellow brother of the burning blade" Warick said as he gave Ingis a pat on the back.
"JAMIS!"
Warick quickly turned around to see Buliwyf looking down at his brother and Vicktor carrying him off towards the medical wagon. Wheres that damn Archivist with his healing scrolls when you need him. Warick thought. He walked behind Buliwyf. "Do not worry, Jamis his strong, he will pull through." He said with uncertainty in his voice.
"We have to f$%&ing ACT, WHY ARE WE STANDING HERE TENDING TO THE SICK, WHEN THERE ARE LIVES THAT ARE GOING UNAVENGED ?!?! We are not doctors, we are MERCENARIES, and it is our duty, our OBLIGATION, to avenge these people. Riddia must answer for the crimes they have committed today, and I say we be the ones to bring them to justice." Ingis yelled at the group of Knights, with fury that would frighten even the demons of the Burning Hells.
Warick looked a Ingis Finally someone with enough guts to say what we have all been feeling.
"I agree. Riddia shall burn!! If any of you have any respect for these people, you will meet me and Ingis at the entrance to Tappas. Before dawn!" Warick said with rage in his voice. "The Riddians think they have won... but they don't know... this is only the begining." Warick said as he looked around the group and took his place next to Ingis. "God I hope this works," He whispered to his fellow Knight.
Suddenly Warick felt the pace of the wagon pick up dramatically. Oh God. This can't be good.He thought as he looked out of the wagon only to see the town of Tappas burnt to the ground.
"My god.... it's all clear now. The people we fought, they couldn't have even been militia, let alone soldiers. Riddia must have forced their own townsmen to fight, while their forces came in and destroyed Tappas. How could a town be so.... evil ?"Warick heard Ingis say under his breath. "Savages" Warick uttered.
"I can't believe it, Come on, let's look in the church. Maybe someone can tell us why the Riddians would do this." Warick began to follow Jamis and the others toward the church. He noticed a trail of blood leading to them there. He shuddered but continued on. When they finally reached the church Ingis opened the doors with much force. Startling the townspeople causing them to scream and cower. "You didn't think to maybe come in a little more calmly Ingis?" Warick said as he desperately tried to lighten the mood.
Warick looked into the eyes of the townspeople. The brutality. Men, women, children. How could those people be so heartless.he thought as he began to shake with rage. These people... they're broken... they will never be the same.
Warick walked up to a small child, no older than 5, and kneeled in front of him. The child let out a whimper and cowered into his mothers arms. "Its okay." Warick said to the child "I'm here to help you." The child looked at him. "You mean, you aren't here to kill me. Like they did to daddy?" the young boy said as a tears streamed down his face.
"No." Warick said, as he began to choke up. He looked up at the mother of the boy. "Could you please tell me what happened?"
"They came from the West. The burned everything.... Varlan... h-he tried to stop them. But th- they...." The woman began to sob uncontrollably.
Warick calmed the woman down and looked at he in the eyes "I promise you.... His death will be avenged. Those people of Ridda will be met by a slow and painful death." Warick said to the woman as he got up and regrouped with the knights. "It can never be simple can it?" Warick said under his breath as he waited for the next order from Jamis.
"Oh well, perhaps he'll be able to raise us up some zombie horses at said graveyard?" Warick heard Ingis respond. "It would save me about half my earnings if he could" Warick called back with a smile. He seems like a good man. Warick thought Me and him should try and stick together.
"So. as Kifu said, Lets get this show on the road! My throat is as dry as Lut Gholein during the summer!"
"Great idea guys, let the crazy old guy with the uncontrollable laugh drive the wagon. While were at it, who needs daylight, lets wait till it gets dark to go. Oh and we don't need roads either! We can just go through the graveyard!" Warick joked. "Well at least we are finally leaving. I can finally get myself a cold ale!" He continued.
He looked forward and noticed Ingis, Kira and Buliwyf all had horses. Might need to buy myself a horse once we get to Tappas as well Warick thought, as he streched out and looked up at the sky as he used to when he was a little boy with his father. How you doing Mom and Dad?
As Warick sat down by the campfire he looked around at his fellow mercenaries. He noticed Buti and Kira sitting with each other on the wagon. Well they seem to be taking a liking to eachother. Makes sense, since they are the only girls here.
He looked over at the medical tent as he saw Buliwyf emerge from it. "We are returning to Tappas" The injured leader said as he began to mount his steed. Finally Warick thought I can collect my pay and get an ale. Also sell this damned helmet. He looked down at the huge piece on plate he held in his arms. Maybe I shall leave it here. So that if any traveler is in need of armor, he may be lucky enough to come upon it. He thought, as he set the helmet down under a tree and walked towards the giant wagon.
He finally reached the wagon and took a seat next to Kira. "How are you young ladies doing?" Warick asked with a slight smile on his face.
