I don't know about Jetrall and Elfen, but if I was running the show here and someone ran off into the woods alone to take on the city, whatever, I would have them killed and then any posts after would be deleted. This RP is supposed to be about the group of people here doing whatever Jetrall and Elfen planned out for us to do, rather than every character going off and having there own little side story. As said before Jetrall and Elfen want us to help move the story along (the part where Jamis kept asking to see Buliwyf). He then said that offering to move a character to a medic tent that is injured is a good ammount of push for the story. I personally don't see having a character go off into the woods to learn a lesson a good push, it's really too much. Like Zhar said having your fall back plan be that they'll just delete your posts if it doesn't mesh is not a very good way to go about things.
Again, most of us here are amatuer RPers so we might not have the experience that you so pompously outlined in your last post, but I think that everyone should be able to have enough patients to let Jetrall and Elfen guide the RP, rather than trying to guide it ourselves. At least from my stand point it seems that you want to lead the RP with them, instead of following them.
Lol, thanks for the help with it Elfen, but seeing how I really didn't want to highlight the certain parts of the text because that was too much work, I don't think I'll go through the whole coping and pasting proceedure you described, no offense
I figure that coloring the whole post is easier because you can't get back to the normal beige color and going back through and coloring the speech and thoughts is too much like work.
Btw, Elfen, execellent post. I had to post as soon as I saw that. Now I'm curious to see where this is going to go. Can't wait
I personally want the story to get moving, but I don't mind waiting around while we do get our character parts played out like Seth said, which is like the beginning of a story. I'm not sure if we should have helped Jamis out, instead of letting him lie on the ground, which I think we did, but I'm new to this and I don't really know. I look back to it now and I do feel like we just left him lying on the ground, but if Jetrall or Elfen think that we didn't then I guess we're alright. Just my thoughts...
See I was thinking that a map would really help us with understanding more about distances to places and what is actually around us, but I didn't want to put more a burden on Jetrall or Elfen
It does seem that a lot of people are adding other 'fluff' to the story line which can make it confusing, but isn't a terrible thing and could actually help the story line not seem so dull. Like you were saying, Seth, I also went back to the basics of the story. I tried to limit my own confusion by not responding to the extra 'fluff' or at least only respond to a minimal ammount of it. Rather, I would just respond to the major parts of the story line, like Jamis' situation and everyone meeting around him.
The information he keeps repeating over and over again, that we're on a battle field (as typed in the OP of the story thread, the Field of Phillipassus) shows that we are not in a village of any kind, so there should be no need for anyone to see or kill children (it's outside both of the towns), see buildings anywhere in close proximity (it's a field), or any other oddity that does not belong.
I saw that we were finishing a battle in the Field of Phillipassus, but I didn't know how far away we were. At first I thought that we were just on the outskirts of the town and that we were fighting villagers that were coming out of the town to fight us off. And again, I limited my own confusion by 'showing up late' to the battle. As we went on, it became more apparent that we were not close to any town and just in a field far away.
I have to agree with Scyber. Like he said, I'm not trying to be mean, but sometimes it does get confusing on what is going on. That may be because of what was happening earlier with people posting a question and not waiting for an answer, but I don't really know. But when it does get confusing I prefer not to post until I understand what is going on clearly to not make it even more confusing.
I do think that when Jetrall went into the OOC discussion thread and posted the details, it was very plain and that was perfect. Rather than posting what's going on in the actually story thread and having to make it RP like so ithat everything fits, I think that you should just post the simple flat out details on our situation (ie. Location, who is hurt, etc, basically what you did in the OOC thread). Just because sometimes it can be harder to understand what is actually going on and where we are if it's posted in the story thread, which then has the fit the RP standards.
An example would be, before we go into a battle, city, whatever you just post in the OOC thread the location, time of day, the name of battle/city/whatever, and any other significant info that would help understand our situation.
I just went of the thought that there we at least children there since others metioned children and you didnt say anything then, i'll change it to exclude them
I know that I might have to edit my post to move along with any new information that is revealed by the two place holders, which I'm alright with doing that, but I wanted to post it so that Jethera could use his tomes and knowledge equally outside the battlefield as well an in the battlefield (which we havent seen yet :(). Do time, and we'll get to see the power of the Archivist.
Cool, I figured that we shouldn't make other characters do things for use, like heal or say they attacked enemies etc, but looking at something is minor.
Plus, I'd think that without some minor things like that the text would feel empty and there would be a lot of 'I walked into this room and nothing happens' type of senarios.
I had read somewhere that during RP to not 'God Mode' which meant that you only controll your character and not other peoples. Example would be: As the wizard, Lerwin, walked into the room everyone turned in awe at her beauty.
I don't know how much this will matter because people wont be doing other things at the time, like it said on the site I read, but it also said that some people wont think she's beautiful. I just thought about this when I read Scyberdragon's example RP about how the other people 'realized his powers' yada yada.
So, basically I'm just wondering should we only say that our characters walk into rooms or that our characters walk into the room and everyone thinks were beautiful, etc.
