Been playing New Vegas. You know what's so cool about it? It plays music from the original Fallout. They stole that idea from me though. I used to always play Fallout 3 to the original Fallout score.
omg what. i cant aim at all with the controller. getting headshots sans VATS is like near impossible. i guess im just not used to the controller yet i guess.
things really got rolling fast after i reached rivet, now i feel like im very close to the ending. project purity is on its way and there have been some cool missions.
The main quest line from there does move pretty fast. It's why I usually don't recommend going to Jefferson Memorial until you've done a ton of other things you wanna do.
I play F3 on my PC with my Xbox controller. I don't care what the hardcore PC games say. It's far superior than moving with your keyboard and mouse at the same time. Seriously it's grossly inefficient to move back and forth with the keys and looking around with the mouse.
That's another things about mods though. You go to download it, and there's like nine possible files to download. It's like, use this one if you have such and such. Use this one if it's raining outside your home. Use this one if you're using v 1.00048loa already. It's probably not so bad if you're trying out the mods as the game is just coming out, but for me just now trying them for the first time I was like, ehhhhhhhhhhh.
are you going to be trying a different build? maybe they should have some GIANT hammers or something with the new weapon mods. I was going to make an all melee guy at first but i thought he'd probably suck to bad. Too bad i have the xbox360 version myself, cant try mods.
but i usally always rather play on the consoles and kicking back on the couch rather then sitting up at my computer like a dork.
My monitor is right here on my desk next to my bed. It's big enough I can just lie on the bed while I play.
The mods are fun when you get them to work is the thing. The game keeps crashing on me like crazy so I might just reinstall the whole thing. Just learning to run the mods and make sure none conflict is a headache within itself. However I'm looking into known issues with the game and Windows 7 so hopefully I can get it working smoothly.
iam unsure how the world came to be like that on that movie since i wasnt really paying much attention to details. oh right, now i remember. at the beginning that guy is mumblin in a real low voice that i couldnt really make out what he was saying. but i got the jist of it anyways. it was probably from a war like in fallout.
I hate to be one of those people who says shit like, "You should read the book first." But here I'm definitely saying it. The Road is an amazing book. I loved every word of it. The movie, while an admirable attempt, simply could not capture the mystique and horror of that book.
Also in the story, you're never really told why the world is the way it is. Because it doesn't matter. Some kind of calamity took place and the survivors aren't really sure what happened. That's also what makes the book intriguing I think. But the drive of the story is the drama behind the characters, not what happened to the world.
wasnt it from some drought? the road was a pretty grim movie, but man, that kid was fcking annoying.
Some environmental disaster...
Yeah the kid was pretty annoying but what can you do? It's hard to cast a kid in a serious movie like that. I think he did well as far as child actors go. But seriously folks, read that book.
Been starting a new F3 game on my new machine. I thought this time around I'd try it with several mods. I like the one that makes the sky a nice blue color. The faces also are more customized on all the NPC's so everyone doesn't look like a mass produced doll face. There are also more weapons and ammo, monsters from the original Fallout games, and how cool is that I can walk around town completely naked (well except for my pipboy).
Haven't been able to get the alternate weather one to work yet though. But it's cool cause it can snow and also there is rain which affects your rad count.
Ripper is indeed fun cause you can just hold down the trigger and dance around your enemy. Doesn't do a great deal of damage per second but I still think it's really fun to use. There are probably better melee weapons than the shishkebab, but I like it a lot because it has good damage in ratio to its weight and it's a pretty rugged weapon too. Doesn't degrade too fast.
Like I was saying, most custom made weapons are great when your character isn't too high a level. But once you start finding energy weapons everywhere there is less incentive to use the custom weapons. So it's worth just making a quest out of finding schematics for weapons and then enjoying them as long as you can. So you got your shishkebab soon, then I highly recommend the dart gun. It's so fun for going into a dark place. It's technically a silenced weapon and if your sneak is good you can just hide in the dark and shoot people over and over till they die of the poison darts.
There is also the railway rifle which is far from the most powerful custom weapon, but is a higly entertaining one. It shoots railway spikes and you can even pin objects and enemies to the with them. So I hope you're saving all the railway spikes you find as well as the darts. Cause that's ammo, dude!
i have 10k something caps? i dont buy much since i mostly just use the stuff i find.
While some weapon schematics can be found, you can also just buy them. They're a good use of money as they are a bit expensive. Buy yourself the dartgun schematics. It's seriously one of the most fun weapons in the game. At least until you become all overpowered then no weapon is fun anymore.
You get training from the Citadel which is a Brotherhood base. In the meantime though, I do recommend the recon armor. Especially if you're into stealth tactics.
I never played New Vegas. I was worried that like, yeah the gameplay isn't gonna be much different. May just feel like a really long expansion set of F3.
One of the best perks in F3 is the animal friend one. You don't need to upgrade it either. It's nice enough just having so many different animals not attack you on sight.
Yeah the Ghouls do have their own city in F3. But like in the original Fallout they had their own underground tunnels, a water processing plant, and power plant, like they were all seriously locked down and self-sufficient. It was kind of cool. They are still that was in F3, but it just feels more like they took over a single building in a city already controlled by super mutants and the Brotherhood. So they seem less autonomous in F3.
Not that it's really F3's fault, but ghouls really lost all their mystique for me in that game. The original Fallout's ghouls are so much interesting for reasons I'm not even sure of. The Necropolis in F1 is definitely one of the things about it. Underneath their city they also had glowing ones that weren't feral but talked just like any of the others.

Hey you play with the mods, did you have any trouble with the game crashing a lot on you? Are you using the FOMM to run your mods?
