I watched The Fountain recently. Iit actually has parts in it that have a very nice Diablo feel to them. There's awesome jungle parts that could be like the Witch Doctor's home of Teganze, coupled with a really awesome tribal priest with a really cool bone helm and fire sword. Then there's also a part where the main guy goes into space inside his 'bubble' spaceship (its a really weird movie), and the whole space thing is just like the void with Trag'Oul as the stars. Also, there's the whole 'tree of life' thing that could so easily be a magical tree on Sanctuary somewhere (like the Tree of Inifuss).
Satisfy (or fuel) your imagination for a Diablo movie a bit by watching The Fountain
DnD movie wasn't too bad acting, they just had a crappy budget.
Though yeah, if they haven't done many famous movies its usually because they aren't that great at acting. I'd like somewhere in between famous and not famous... but the ones people have been saying are far too famous for my liking.

And sorry, the link I provided before doesn't work anymore because something happened with the threads. They don't have a trailer for it yet. Hell, we don't even know who the actors are or what the storyline is. You must have seen a fan-based trailer, composed of Warcraft cinematics.
Don't trust IMDB as a reliable source of information though. IMDB is equivalent to Wikipedia - its a third party source edited by people who hear about things, not even a secondary source. If there ever will be a Diablo movie, then it will either be announced somewhere official or some media reporter will confirm it, or it will be posted up at a studio's or filmmaker's website (like Legendary Pictures). And then someone will post it on IMDB.
What kind of film style would people Diablo to be?
Regular Hollywood style? (Pirates of the Caribbean)
Expressionist? (Sweeny Todd - focusing on the awesome set design and costumes)
Film Noir? (Sin City - has a real dark comic-book feel to it)
Neorealism? (Traffic - really raw realistic footage, almost like a documentary)
or an Animation? (Beowulf - completely animated)
Edit: If Blizzard are gonna make it, I'm assuming they would go for the Hollywood style, because that guarentees the largest audience - and thats what Blizzard always does, they target the largest audience possible. They are the game industry's version of Hollywood lol.
With the new site scheme, the 'Update' text at the top is hard to read, but it actually has the answer right there for you in the quote that you just quoted. If you highlight it just after the word 'Update' you can see that it says:
"Now the Legendary Pictures homepage has been changed. They have removed Diablo from their under development projects. What gives? it was there, along with World of Warcraft."
I wish they didn't take it down
The new scheme is a bit annoying in these situations, unfortunately.
eeww, no way. Whoever plays the characters I would prefer to be fairly unkown actors, or at least ones without attitude. Celebrities have the potential to ruin it. Sure, you can have some slight celebrities like LotR, but NOT Vin Diesel or Will Smith or Brad Pitt - they have too much attitude. And not actors that are either bad at acting or don't suit the part - like Hally Berry, Johnny Depp (Necro's aren't crazy lol, he's only good at playing crazy characters), and Gwenyth Paltrow is not the warrior-type.
But Lucy Liu is the only one that I know of and sounds alright.
There are plenty of actors out there, you don't have to go for the known ones. Sure, there are also plenty of bad actors, they shouldn't be chosen either.
If they did make a movie, it would pretty much have to be about the Sin War specifically. For the first time the audience experiences Sanctuary, they need to be introduced to the whole world first, before jumping into mini stories like Moon of the Spider or The Kingdom of Shadow, or else they just wouldn't make sense.
Yeah, cows would lower the quality of the movie alot. But having a reference to them would be cool, like if the main guy goes up to a cow, pats it, and then it 'moos' would be cool lol. But while he's talking to someone else.
Oh yea, and Kate Beckinsale would make a GREAT sorceress.
Wow I saw the DVD cover for Dungeons and Dragons movie, and it actually looks like it would be a good movie. I haven't followed D&D at all though, so I have no clue. Though I hope Diablo or Warcraft don't fail like D&D apparently did.

And of course they are making a Warcraft movie. Blizzard has publicly stated it. We all know how secretive Blizzard is, no need to doubt them.
