Okay that just takes it too far. There's a difference between saying that Diablo 3 might not be so good and calling all the fans immature and complainers. Calm down man or there might be some fights in this thread, which I don't want.
If you've ever played D2 on the Battlenet for even a short period of time, you would know that it's the worst community in the world. Calling it 'community' is rather generous actually. I stand by that and know that people will agree with me.
I'm not discussing which game is better, just talking about the fact that D3 sales won't come close to WoTLK sales, etc.
I honestly believe that the overall popularity won't go beyond the current fanbase because there are other options on the market that have its say. The whole 'trading game' concept can't work unless they have an efficient way to prevent bots and item stores. Otherwise, the future of D3 aint anymore brighter than the current situation with D2. That, combined with the fact that every wanker can play it because it's 100% free, and the fact that the game is so simple, 'your grandmother can play it' makes me think that D3 will be just another unchallenging bot-parade with a rotten, immature community which can't really compete with WoW on any of those levels. And any online game is as good as its competitive factor for one, and the community for two.
Who am I going to play D3 with? With the fucking complainers. The thought of it makes me cringe.
Not really. They have HUGE expectations and pressure for Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3. I personally have lowered my expectation so I could surprised more and so I could enjoy them both more. I personally don't know. This is a just a guess since the chances of a disapointing game goes up as they keep making flawless games.
They haven't been making flawless games. D2 is full of flaws. In fact, D3 looks to be a greater game than D2 was in the same sense D2 was greater than D1 (not taking sentimental value into account). SC2 looks promising as well. I believe it's going to be a much better game than WC3 on every level. Not like we haven't seen the games already and not like we don't know anything about them. You can tell from out here that there won't be no ordinary games.
As for the sales and stuff. It's true that D3 won't even come close to these numbers. Out of my 10 friends or so I can think of, 3 have heard of or played Diablo, and all have heard of and played WoW or still play it. The numbers don't like. Diablo is not so popular some people believe it to be. The WoW playerbase has more people than all Diablo-related communities combined (by several times).
@deathMars: I don't see them succumbing to 'pressure' with their new WoTLK expansion. WoW has beaten all records, then TBC came and beat the previous records, and now WoTLK came and broke the records as well as pushing their standard up a notch. Blizzard has been a loooong way from the concept pianist a long time ago and they never ever failed. They are planning to put even more effort into everything they do, and eventually reach their goal of releasing one WoW expansion every 12 months. Why do you think it took them longer than that last two times? Because they have no pressure. They have the money, the unlimited resource and all the time in this world.
After a couple of years, if Diablo 3 doesn't meet their highest standards, they will rather have flushed it and called it quits than released it in any other form and compromised their good name. They've already done so in the past. Besides, what are you talking about? We've got a little taste of the game already, we know it's looking to be their best game so far.

I can see WC4 after the fourth WoW expansion, opening the doors to WoW2.
WoW 5, you mean? You do understand that WoW 2 is called The Burning Crusade? They all count as separate games.
