Baldur's Gate II Shadows of Amn #88 - the best D&D game ever made.
Very frustrating for me at times, but overall an enjoyable experience. And I even only finished like 3/4 of the game. Not sure if I could ever resume it though just because before I played it off Gametap and these days Gametap is major fail.
But I loved the music, the voice overs, the artwork, the ambience. The gameplay was annoying at times as party control was kind of difficult and people would always wonder off or get killed very easily. I don't know. But I can easily see why it would rank high in this kind of list.
I could never play Doom again just cause it would be so boring to me now. Not cause of the graphics. I love the graphics. It's just the gameplay is more repetitive than I can handle. And I'm a guy who plays lots of Diablo 2!
But yeah I have some very wonderful memories playing that game. And I loved how non politically correct that game was. At the time, few could boast such a violent and satanic game. Doom 2 I especially loved though.
I'm only compelled to write my own top 20 most underrated games now. I wish I had the resources though that Game Informer had. I can write the article but I wouldn't have as many screenshots and whatnot.
At least IGN included a flight sim as well as Grim Fandango (easily one of the greatest games of all time). And I was happy to see Fallout closer to where it belongs.
I guess my overall point is the reader can't even fairly argue the list because there really was no process in selecting these games it seems like other than just them putting what game they felt like on there. They might have just called the list 200 Games We Thought of Just Now. But I also understand I am oversimplifying it a bit.
Because it's NOT ON THE INTERNET. Print. They wrote a hugely abridged version for the net, but the real thing is infinitely longer and only in the magazine.
Well so I as I read some of the blogs of these writers of the article, it does sound like a big criteria for them was whether the game helped change the landscape of gaming. I hate also how they love that a lot of people are gonna be pissed off at their selections. I hate these assholes. And not for the games they didn't list or the ranks of the ones listed, but just because of everything one guy said here.
Kind of surprises me no Dungeon and Dragon type games are on here. Those games had a huge impact on several others. Lands of Lore wouldn't even have existed if it wasn't for that game. One of the best RPG games of all time, by the way.
An in terms of influence, it's hard to believe Fallout 3 had a greater influence than Fallout 1. But still no one has linked the article yet for me and I'm pretty damn lazy to look it up right now.
GTA III is controversial though for the stupidest of reasons. Mainly because you can beat up people in the street, including old ladies and hookers. I'm surprised more people didn't recognize what they were doing as merely trying to add shock value to their game.
I hate predictably games like Zelda, Mario, Madden, and ugh...Final Fantasy.
And why the fuck do people pick Pac Man except for purely nostalgic reasons? Pac Man even for an old game, is incredibly boring and stupid. And Diablo II better than Diablo I? I think the writers at Game Informer are eating too many SlimJims.
While it seems pretty asinine anyway to rank games, I still think this list is rather bullshit. And Fallout is ranked 117??
But like I said, it's asinine anyway. On what criteria are they ranking these games? And how come not one Wing Commander game is on there? And do you have the link to the original article of this? I wanna see if they say anything else about it.

But yes, BG and Planescape are excellent games.
You get special props just for knowing of this game.
In fairness, I only first played those games last year. But I loved them nonetheless even without the added childhood nostalgia to go along with it.
