Jetrall, I think Vancouver drivers are generally just ridiculously courteous. I've been to most of Canada, and especially in areas like Toronto or Montreal there are some really aggressive and asshole-like drivers.
I live on the North Shore and everyone just waves other drivers to go first and smiles, even if they have the right away. Can lead to annoying standoffs at 4-way stops...
Anyways, Canadians are generally more kind, yes. But Canadians also do not have the same identity that Americans do. America is called a 'melting pot.' This means that whatever culture you are from, when you live in America you are turned into whatever an American is and embrace the American identity. In Canada, we have a 'cultural mosaic' which means that every Canadian's identity includes their specific culture. We are more forgiving, more open minded, and more tolerant than Americans, especially the Southerners / red necks / evangelicals.
