Where do you guys go to college? Started a lot earlier than me. I start class on September 1st.
I started today
Re-reading No Plot? No Problem! by Chris Baty. I'm gearing up for NaNoWriMo, which starts in November. This'll be my 5th year competing.
I've never heard of that before. How did it go for previous years for you? Do you write short stories or something and they judge them? Prose of some sort?
(Edit- I guess it would help if I read the link you provided- doh :P)
The Writer's Journey by Christopher Vogler and a short little book by Orson Scott Card, How to Write Science Fiction & Fantasy (that last one was just lying around so I snagged it). I'm hoping to go and fetch some books on good character development tomorrow sometime during a break between college classes.
Kind of early to say this, but I can't wait until C.S. Friedman's Wings of Wrath comes out! She's so much better at Dark Fantasy than she is at Science Fiction, I wish she'd write more in it. Oh well.
I'm only about half way through The Silmarillion, at The Return of the Noldor. Very good reading, but there's just so much to absorb the first time through. So I'm taking a little break and I'm re-reading the Coldfire Trilogy by C.S. Friedman- Dark Fantasy at its finest; some of my favorite stuff.
(Continue this discussion in the Reading Recommendations thread so it isn't off topic, please :hammy:)
