Ahhhhh, the text! The text! The wall of teeexxxxttt!
Hm. All those things are unproven stuff. I certainly can't see anyone would ever fathom that there is no such things as aliens. It makes no logical sense. But that's just imo.
Also, Phrozen, a virus is NOT a living thing. All it is is genetic information. There's nothing living about it.
Most scientist who claim there are no extra-terrestrial beings besides ourselves are basing it on the fact that they think like HAS to be carbon based, just like ourselves.
I think that's an extremely ignorant way of looking at things. Just because we haven't discovered non-carbon based lifeforms doesn't mean they exist. It was like people back i the 1600's saying they were positive that the only land masses on the planet was Europe, Asian, and Africa (since NA had yet to be discovered). Maybe a bad analogy, but you get my point.
Hell, we don't even know for sure if physics are the same throughout the entire Universe.
And I think this should explain pretty well as to the question of the chance that there's other life besides ourselves: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BGxRWCmwSDE ... yeah.
Even if what they saw were actual UFO's (from ET's), I'd say they were satellite type of objects from whatever ET's they were from. I highly doubt they'd send manned vassals to a planet to simply orbit it and look at astronauts in space, and not actually visit it. Seems more productive to just send a satellite or probe.
If they could ever kill someone, leave them dead for a month (preserving their body), and then bring them back to life, that'd probably be the biggest thing in human history.
I fully believe in the existence of extra-terrestrials, but I highly doubt that most of these "UFOs" are actually ET's. Hell, even what Alderin saw may have just been another country's satellites in the vicinity. I do fully believe that most of the UFO sightings are either hoaxes or military craft.
Perhpas ... PERHAPS, one or two may have been legit. But I doubt that.
But to play devil's advocate (to the poster that was talking about the long distances they'd need to travel), perhaps they've learned to understand and create wormholes or other technology?
Perhaps when we die, we reincarnate on another Earth planet millions of light years away. But that's for another thread.
For whoever said it: No, the Earth is not in the center of the galaxy. Do you live in the 16th century?
And most likely, we've already found some form of extra-terrestrial life. Probably not in the form of intelligent humanoids, but in bacterial or other forms. Even if we haven't though, I'd say with a lot of certainty that it's out there.
But damn, just imagine what the discovery of extra-terrestrials would do to society. Religion would get rocked.
The biggest hurdle in people's thinking is the assumption that conditions/environment has to be similar to that of our own solar system/planet for there to be potential life. There's no doubt in my mind alien lifeforms exist, in fact its highly probable they exist in our own solar system. (moon of Mars, Europa,...)
I actually agree with you Doppel!
I always hate when I have to sit there and have someone of intelligence tell me that "the conditions are not right for life to exist on this planet/place." I just want to smack them upside their head.
If you want to get technical, Pluto is no longer a planet, so there's only 8 planets now.
Pluto and (Ceron or something ... kinda like a double planet w/ Pluto) are classified like big chunks of rock ... or like two moons orbiting around each other.
And as far as our own solar system, I don't believe there are sentient species.
My age doesn't have anything to do with this, yet my lack of knowledge in science and solar systems. But like I said, I ment our 9 planets, I wasn't thinking solar systems.
Well, I was more so talking about that if you were younger, you wouldn't have taken high enough science to learn about that.
Quote from "Sofawall" »
Try thinking out through all of the infinate reaches of space.
Like everyone has said 13 dozen times in this thread alone...
I've taken science up to grade 8. Never really done shit with solar systems, grade 5 or 4 maybe, 3 actually, but I don't remember anything from them grades.
I'm just thinking on the 9 planets we have, not anywhere else. My bad.
Alright... do you have anything to back that up? Prove me wrong with facts and I'll be glad to admit I'm wrong.
Provide what facts?
That there's billions of other solar systems out there?
Are you kidding me? Have you ever taken basic science?
You're kidding me, right? Please tell me you're joking.

If you're talking about the aliens part, of course there's no proof. If you don't think there are any, then you don't, that's your view and that's cool.

Did you really facepalm him for not knowing what a weather balloon was when you posted an extremely fake looking photo as proof for UFO/Aliens?
Seriously? Did you really just do that?
LOL.

It'd just be a great technological achievement. I doubt they'd remember, but I guess you could ask someone, "What happened when you died?"

Hell, that first video looked like a satellite falling out of orbit, or a meteorite burning up.
And I'd bet some of those "UFOs" were probably Nighthawks back in the 70s and 80s.
