do a image-text test (yes i am serious) diablo related ofc
We tried something similar to this and it was actually worse. Basically, we asked it a series of random questions, like what color is an apple, what do grapes grow on, what is Diablo, etc, etc.
Maybe you could make everybody who has no post count do a CAPTCHA test when they want to send a PM. This is not completely fail proof, but might limit the problem.
The site requires filling out a CAPTCHA to register, which the bots are getting past, ;/.
Okay, good. Usually our Mod staff is good at catching them before the user actually see's the PM. However, if you have it set to e-mail you when you receive a PM, you'll see it via your e-mail.
I got a malicious PM yesterday too (well I'm not sure if the link is malicious, but it is a fake PM). The user was forumAdmin and it said I had a virus on my computer and adviced me to click on a link to get virus software.
Please tell me you didn't click, :/. Staff members have colored names, that is just a random spambot.

I signed up on the Phrozen Keep last week so I can PM one of it's members. I've signed up at the Lurker Lounge to talk to Jarulf.
Under these new circumstances, I would not be able to PM them.
