The City that I live near apparently has the last Gothic building to be built in the World. They built most of it ages ago, but for some reason didin't complete it. But now they are finishing it I didn't even know it existed. Its a church. I shall go visit it one day!
oh yeah, definitely no pearly gates. I hate those. Like what the hell, earth doesn't have gates lol. yeah ok, your right. In this case, i would definitely like to see Heaven (if we get there, we haven't even really seen Hell yet, just bits of it). I'd imagine some sort of sea of light, because thats what angels are made of. so instead of a crowd of people, it'd be a mass of light lol. probably something that would resemble a small sun. that would be cool. no?
that'd be good too, if the architecture wasn't quite perfect in some places, with holes and things, from attacks from hell.
you know, it'd also be cool if we saw that 'sea of light', but then a demon suddenly entered the middle of it and spread its darkness throughout. it would be immensly contrasted, almost like a black hole.
haha, elfen, I'm so getting married in one of them too. Also, the music will definitely not be the famous wedding tune, but rather it will be Funeral March by Chopin. It has a really nice slow marching pace to it that would suit a wedding perfectly.
Also, Ureh was said to be a heavenly city. maybe it would look like that? With the angel statues everywhere too. no, wait, actually, those angel statues are said to be only what mortals can imagine an angel to be. as magnificant as their statues are, they say that angels in real life are soooo much more beatuful/perfect than that. So if they did have statues, what would they look like? Considering the artists that Blizzard hires to create them are only mortals, It'd be very hard for them to come up with soemthing that is apparently absolutely perfect lol. I think thats also part of the reason why Heaven is always fairly marginalised in fiction. Its easier to let our imaginations fill in the gaps than to come up with something that turns out to be less-than-imaginative.
I suppose Heaven's architecture would gothicish? I hope so. It could be greek, or lots of other things too, depending on the religion. But I'd say diablo's religion is definitely based on gothic things, so heaven would probably be somewhat similar to gothic too (also considering the parts of hell are gothic-designed). Obviously it would be a much less-dark version of gothic architecture though.
No, I think the pile of rubble is just the house thats next to where our TP was in DI. The cathedral is a fair bit further away from the main part of town.
I love that Notre Dame cathedral! I plan on moving to England sometime in the future, hopefully I'll be able to find some sort of cool gothicish church to hang out in lol. But somehow I really really doubt it.
Oh, I just had a look at the cathedral in Tristram... and.. well.. its actually pretty crap. It looks more like a hut than a cathedral. Its completely covered in stone bricks. Where are the columns? The statues? The exquisite design? Its more like a farmhouse.
The gothic stuff that I really love are the designs in the manuals and the interface bar while in-game.
When I played DI, I was dissappointed to find out that I couldn't leave town. I kept hoping that at some point I would be able to venture off lol. But then, when I got DII, I was soo excited to be able to go to many towns, thinking that each of them would have just as big of a labyrinth as Tristram... but then none of them were as big as Tristram. I was slightly disspapointed, but then I realise that if they were that big, then it'd be pretty annoying and would slow down the gameplay alot.
I love gothic architecture so much, that (if I could) I would build a house with gothic designs. But I know thats like impossible lol, because its soo expensive. It was okay to do back then, because the builders that did it were slaves, but nowadays people 'want to be paid for their time and effort', pssh. I need money.

They don't really differ very much though.
LOL at that episode of south park. haha. the design of Heaven's gates were good.
