That's your standard for satisfaction? Whether one can adapt to the DF community becoming much larger (and less experienced accordingly)?
Adaptation is fine and good. But you don't have to accept everything that sucks purely on the tenets of adaptation. What was proposed as a solution is perfectly sensible. Merely deny new users the ability to post new threads unless they've achieved a certain number of posts. Even as low as 10 or 20 would make a huge difference.
I didn't say it was a "be-all, end-all" for satisfaction. I was only trying to point out that it plays a part in determining a web user's experience and I hadn't seen anyone mention that.
I also did not mean to come across as "well, surrender and get used to it". Rather, that there needs to be some give and take as this website is determining -- or careening into, take your pick -- its direction. I think this sort of discussion is a necessary debate, and perhaps we could use more of in the future.
You are asking Siaynoq about 14k posts? What about your 6k+ count?
On topic: Perhaps not exactly a cheerful thought for some but... Isn't this rather a preview for when Diablo III gets released - heh - and we'll have a flood of newcomers then, anyway? If a person can't adapt with having the DF community becoming much larger (and less experienced accordingly), then... I don't know if anything could satisfy said person.
It's the first time -- to my knowledge, anyway -- that DiabloFans has even had a beta key contest. I'm willing to tolerate the surge for a few days. Who knows, maybe we'll end up with some more active posters.
Although, yes, it will be somewhat uncomfortable to other members given how small the DiabloFans community is, and then to experience the increase in new members to said small community.
