I read the stuff about no overclocking on this site (link).
Am I reading it correctly? (not trying to be a smart ass, I don't really understand a lot of the overclocking terminology or lingo) The part where it says "However, the cheapest model, i7-3820, does not have an unlocked CPU multiplier."
That's probably the only model I'd be able to afford since after that model they shoot up to $1000
I would say cpu and add another 2gb of ram, but for that youd need a new mobo, but a a serten point replacing pritty much al your hardware wont be worth it, might aswel get a brand new rig.
Its all about making the right calculation regarding price spent/should spend.
Yea, I anticipated the necessity to replace all 3 components (I pretty much build a "new rig" every few years, whether it's upgrading piece by piece or like this time where I'm buying pretty much everything).
So any advice on parts to buy then?
I know how to put everything together, I just always ask friends for advice on exactly what to buy since I don't always keep up to date on the newest and best items. My one battlefield friend said to wait for a CPU until the sandy bridge E comes out, but from what I've found, the most inexpensive (and only affordable in my case) sandy bridge E is comparable to an i7 and is unable to be overclocked. This leads me to believe an i7 would be better?
So I've had the same computer for a few years and it has been in dire need of upgrades for gaming. I recently graduated from grad school and now have a job, so I can afford to buy some good stuff.
I just got 2x 23.6" monitors, a 750W power supply (RMA'd for a replacement <_< ), and a superclocked EVGA GTX 570.
Basically, I'm wondering which of these I should replace (if not all) and if you have any recommendations on what I should buy to replace them. I don't know much of the lingo, but I'm pretty sure my CPU is bottlenecking my graphics card?
I was thinking about a quad-core i7 and the ASUS P8Z68 Deluxe motherboard. No idea on RAM. Let me know what you guys think of these or if you have recommendations for better deals/items.
I just spent quite a bit on the monitors and graphics card, so I'd like to keep this as inexpensive as possible, while also getting some quality equipment. Definitely <$1000.
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

Any recommendations on MOBO and CPU cooling?

I currently have:
Intel Duo Core CPU
4GB DDR2 RAM
GIGABYTE Intel Motherboard
and a mid tower (thinking about full HAF?)
Basically, I'm wondering which of these I should replace (if not all) and if you have any recommendations on what I should buy to replace them. I don't know much of the lingo, but I'm pretty sure my CPU is bottlenecking my graphics card?
