Why would anyone use anything else other than cookie cutter builds and little variations off them? Fun? Doing what? Isn't farming what this game's about? Why would you gimp yourself and use something completely inefficient?
Hi CardinalMDM. Great post. I think I mentioned a similar thing somewhere else a while ago.
Thing is, I never heard of this efficiency thing in Diablo 2. No one cared. You were the coolest guy in town if you had the worst gear and most awkward distribution of stats and skills and still managed to get around.
In D3, if you don't have 100k DPS, roflstomp through MP5 with 80m XP/hour and your skill or gear looks a little bit odd (i.e., doesn't equal the same shit that everyone's wearing) people will laugh at you.
It's really strange, people are complaining about what was possible in D2 and what's not possible in D3 anymore, but they ain't even trying. And please don't tell me your 250 strength sorc had a faster kill speed than the next best hammerdin. Can't hear that crap anymore. I don't know when and why this efficiency blurb started in D3, but as long as it doesn't stop, people won't be happy again.
