Thanks for the info, TheCrusader. Since we have someone here who played the game, I have another question: to me it seemed that a lot of the gameplay I've seen so far looks like slow, event-based monsters (not just waves of monsters running at you, but many monsters "spawning" as you come across their way or Malthael turning people into zombies or whatever.
I'm a bit afraid that act 5 is gonna be a slow and sluggish play-through. Can you confirm/deny that, at least for the bits you saw?
One of the reasons act 5 in LoD was so great is because it was just a town under siege and lots of stupid monsters running at you. Hordes of monsters, perfect to be killed by my screen-covering Blizzard fields. The RoS gameplay so far looked more like a cool "spot your enemy and kill it" rather than a fast-paced ARPG with hordes of enemies running at you... (I hope I'm terribly wrong though).
If there is not more than one new act I'll be extremely disappointed. I know hoping for 4 was a pipe dream, but assuming they will charge as much for the Xpac as they do the original game it would seem reasonable. 3 would be tolerable. 2 disappointing. If there is only one I think i'll say thank-you for the fixes in the patch but no thank you for the Xpac.
Sounds awesome otherwise. Lots of good news.
There is only one act. Just like in the D2 x-pac as well. This is confirmed btw - sorry :-/
And who said they're gonna charge as much as for the original game? That keeps getting repeated everywhere, I don't know why?
2nd is they say they are removing all the stats you have gain from paragon levels. Awesome. So now I am losing 300 STR 100 VIT and my magic find cap? Really? That's shit. Everyone will have to forcefully spec into utility just to get the magic find cap back. I mean I know its far too soon to guess at this shit but I am just going by what I read so far.
No worries. Your paragon level 100 will translate to quite some paragon points (not sure if 100 or less). You only need 50 paragon points to get to 250 STR (max) and 20 paragon points to get your 100 VIT back. I'm quite sure that p100 will translate to at least 70 paragon points in the expansion, so that's that...
As for MF/GF, it wasn't on the utility tab when Athene read all the stats out. Which makes me think if 1) MF/GF is still tied to a character (would be absolute bogus since MF was the one reason why people wanted account-wide paragon) or 2) MF/GF will be removed from paragon completely (which I doubt because it was still on the Puzzle Ring, though I'd love to see MF gone) or 3) MF/GF will just be an addition to your account for every paragon level you earn (that would be super lame imho) or 4) they revamp MF/GF completely. We'll only find out at Blizzcon.
Every other than that looks solid. Make sure you say a thank you to Jay Wilson. Because without him we wouldn't have this model of game to look forward to. Just like I said when the game came out " Diablo2 wasn't amazing on day 1 give it time" this game is fast on its way to becoming legendary.
Absolutely. Jay Wilson laid the foundation for what might become an awesome game. Completely agree.
This may seem like a silly question but I can't seem to find an answer here on diablofans, what exactly does the color coding and symbols mean on the item affixes? It seems to be tied to item rarity since there is yellow and orange text, but I am not sure what it signifies.
The "orange" colored affixes indicate special legendary affixes that only roll on legendary items (source: one of the interviews). No one knows what's up with the stars. We'll have to wait for Blizzcon for that.
We're in the process of adding sources to the article and will be keeping it alive as a sort of encyclopedia during the development and Beta test of Reaper of Souls.
It's quite tedious though, progress will be somewhat slow. Bare with us!
Will you also create some kind of overview of all video footage/interviews of Gamescom? Galneryus posted them everywhere, but would be nice to have all of them in one place. And to go completely crazy about it, it would be super awesome to have a little summary below the video of the main points (if any) in that interview, though that'd just be an extra if any of you had too much time. For some videos this "summary" was also given along with the post, for some videos (IGN) it's pointless because there's zero information.
I'd create something like this myself, but not sure if I have the time, probably not.
Dying in Hardcore does not take away from your earned Paragon Points
I'm curious where they found this info because in the interview video Blizzard said that they don't know and that they are still working on how it's going to work.
The no cap on Paragon levels is not completely true since every attribute has a maximum cap of how many points you can allocate there as shown on the screenshots.
You can grind out all Paragon levels with only one character and no longer limited to 100 that is what the no cap on Pl means, should be clarified.
1) We don't know how the scaling is and how XP -> paragon points translates. It might be that high that no one ever comes close to capping out all stats.
2) We don't know that many details about paragon 2.0; they might as well just create one random "no cap" thing on each tab (e.g., as soon as you spent 200 points on a single tab) or whatever.
If they say it's "infinite", I'm pretty sure it will feel infinite - whether it's due to one really infinitely stackable stat or due to the infinitely difficult leveling towards reaching all caps ;-)
first of all I cannot wait to get my hands on the expansion.
the info revealed so far misses some parts that's easy to guess. I think it will be revealed @ blizzcon;
New Gem levels
With the new level 70 cap its obvious we see new Gem levels. The current highest gem (Marquise) level is item level 67.
maybe they choose to drop higher level gems from monsters instead of Flawless Square (lvl60), Perfect Square (lvl61) or Radiant Square (lvl62?).
My guess is we will see new (account bound) gems up to lvl 72.
New Resources
Again, with the higher level cap. Exquisite Essence (lvl61), Iridescent Tear (lvl62), Demonic Essence (lvl63). will be far to low to be useful, and indirectly allows 10 new resources, to fill lvl64 top 73. plenty of room for new recipies/plans. (I hope they don't forget to build an design/plan archive for jeweler and black smith, otherwise the list of designs/plans will be huge, and very hard to use, by scrolling the endless list)
Monster Power (MP)
With the uncapped paragon level. MP10 will get (even with lvl 70 monsters) very boring. I think they will make changes to the Monster Power system and maybe uncap that too? that would be a bold move :] or make it MP25 for the first year, and go to 50 by the second expansion).
just my guesses.
Sem
Yeah, gems is one thing I'll be looking forward to as well. As for the item levels (and therefore probably material levels as well), they already said that right now the highest level is 70. And there are also no plan as of now to increase MP. Uncapped paragon doesn't mean you'll get OP, the progression will slow down obviously.

WC3 x-pac: $40.
WoW x-pac 1: $40.
WoW x-pac 2: $40.
WoW x-pac 3: $40.
WoW x-pac 4: $40.
SC2 x-pac: $40.
It's kinda hard to guess what the D3 x-pac will cost now.

Edit: and of course everything is subject ti change, but this is rather intuitive and pretty much set. There's still a debate whether or not character who died previously to the x-pac should count towards paragon; see discussion here: http://www.diablofans.com/topic/101998-rosretroactively-paragon-points-from-dead-hc-chars/
