Dude, again, just because you wrote it in the OP does not make it the truth in anyway. You saying that it means nothing, does not mean that it means nothing. You cannot have a discussion about this if you keep claiming your own ideas to be the absolut truth - thats not how this works.
Because its logical, its not "absolutely right", nothing is. its just logical reasoning based on facts. Its extremely illogical to think an extremely vague statement means anything arguable, or anything at all. it's intentionally vague and was said right after its very first announcement of existing, obviously its not coming out any standard of soon dude. Thinking otherwise is pretty black and white if you actually think about it. Blizzard, or any video game company, would also never intentionally announce a game over 3-4 years before its actual release, that would be illogical for so many reasons. Blizzard is a company first and you can expect them to operate like one.
After reading the new quartly update I think we "might" see an alpha end of next year?
And a beta a year later. So my feelings/guesses tells me it will take 2\3 years before we see a public beta or release.
Especially when they said "not soon, not even blizzard soon" at the last Blizzcon.
The reason why im guessing it will take 2\3 years is because in the post you can read that they only finished like 1 zone\act? Let alone all the other maps, mobs, items etc etc.
You said this same thing in both threads and it clearly shows you didnt read the OP. haha. its in the first paragraph. Them saying an intentionally vague statement about the game not being released soon doesn't really mean anything because it was said directly after D4s announcement, how could any game be any standard of 'soon' directly after its announcement? it cant. its an illogical question to even ask. They also mention multiple times how what theyve shown the pulic isnt close to what they have finished.
they even said the game isn’t even in Alpha Stage. This game will come out 2022 earliest. 2023 is way more likely.
D3 took 10 years to make. And when they had the beta, it was nothing like live server.
D3.5? what does that mean?
and yes i know it isnt in alpha yet bud. its about to go into alpha. D3 had 3-4 major development issues, did you not even read the OP broseph? D3 was planned to be released just over 2 years after the demo, which got pushed 3 times to 4 years which angered everyone. Even the developers. It'll only take longer than that if they hit some major problem(s) like in D3. At the Q4 developer update this year they'll announce they're in Alpha or going into it soon and then Beta by mid-2021 and released before xmas.
Again, I'll have to say, just because you belive it to be like this (classes are done etc), does not make it true. The only truth is that we don't know. Maybe you are right, I personally don't think so - but I think we have established that :-D
Obviously everyone has their own opinions. Your opinion seems to be based on their previous track-record, which is a safe position to take. But mine is based on exactly what we've seen and a more reasonable time-frame. We've seen most of the gameplay, skills, talents, world, features and how things will mostly be at launch so its unnecessary to even show the public anymore besides the last 2 classes, they needed to with-hold at least some decent info for the Q-dev-updates. if they reveal the other classes in 2 weeks at the Dev update, will you then think its closer to 2021? lol
Crappy gameplay? If there is one thing most agree on when it comes to d3 it's that the gameplay is awesome, it's pretty much everything else that a lot of people have a problem with.
80% of what we will see a launch? What, how, why...?
The demo was set a level 20, not starter zone for starters.
Yes, we are still missing 40% of the classes, the talent system was anything but done, same goes for skills.
They haven't talked about endgame systems yet, which will be the big one.
I really can't wrap my head around how you could possibly think that everything is done by now, and add to that blizzard keep telling everyone that the game is in a very early stage.
I am not trying to put you down or be negative about the game. I am trying to be realistic about it.
Saying that it will release soon and blow everything away based on nothing but own expectations does not make it true. Hell, maybe poe 2 will completely destroy Diablo 4 is every aspect - we just don't know yet
I should've specifically said crappy-longevity for gameplay. it was really fun, for a short time. D2 lasted 10x longer.
Them not revealing the final classes is simply for the quarterly-dev-updates, not necessarily because they aren't far from finished. Quarterly-update is their new shtick to keep fans interested until release. And based on the amount of info released in the first update, we'll get 100% of everything within just 2-3 updates anyways.
The demo showcased the gameplay. the same gamplay you'll experience from lvl 1 to max. its an Arpg, its very repetitive. AoE monsters for loot, level up, alter skills, repeat. End game has always been the loot grind. Loot grinding for Grifting, builds or pvp, is still a loot grind and thats 90% of all diablo games.
=> seems like you haven't read this entire page https://news.blizzard.com/en-us/diablo4/23189677/diablo-iv-feature-overview (yes yes they emphasize at the end that its "early in development", already touched on that in OP). But no game with the demo they had is THAT early in development. Q4 2021 is 2 full years from announcement.
I expect D4 to come out Q2/3 2022. I would love to see a Q4 2021 release, but Blizzard themselves said at 2020 that it isn't even Blizzard soon. Outside of some very base concepts we've hardly seen anything about the game, I expect to see a lot more information at this years blizzcon, a Beta announcement at next years Blizzcon and a mid 2022 release.
The public being able to play a demo that show-cases skills, talents and game-play with 3/5 classes as well as more in-depth info about gear stats, lore and monster families is "hardly anything"? lol idk why you guys are so jaded about how much we've seen and how it seems like its "not much" when its literally 80% of what we'll experience at launch. Whats left to reveal besides the last 2 classes that we already know are amazon and paladin, crafting and end-game systems? And we'll get most of that info soon. Its an ARPG, not that complicated of a game with not that many systems.
We have the Dev update in a couple weeks, another in a few months and then online-blizzcon for more in-depth info. Blizzard not releasing every detail about the game immediately doesn't indicate a super-far release because that's why they set up these quarterly-dev-updates in the first place. Withholding the info on purpose to slowly release and keep the hype-train running. Most of their feedback and changes will come with Alpha and Beta testing at this point. They've already gotten the general public opinion.
I think there is room and a fan base for both games. A lot of hardcore poe players will never be satisfied with Diablo and vice versa.
For me, there are just too many systems in poe, crafting is (for me) a nightmare and I can't even start to understand stats and gear, having said that, I have spent a lot of hours in poe and had fun, but it will never be my go to game.
Of course POE will always have some sort of fan-base. I'm just saying that its fan base is extremely tiny in comparison to Diablo and will shrink tremendously upon D4's release. It only ever had an inflated fan/player base due to waiting periods between D2-D3 , D3's crappy gameplay sending players back to PoE and now waiting for D4.
Im pretty sure most people will be dissapointed with early D4, let me clarify; Just like d3 the game will be built around buying the expantions These guys are money makers and will build their game around making money. ( Skins, expantions mostly ) And if u blieve that d4 will compete with poe 2 its not the case im sorry it will never be. best thing you can do in that case is play PoE 2 for more content and more D2 Vibe in the future.
D4 will basically be D3 (2.0 ) all over again maybe with a little more but i wouldnt say compete with PoE 2 in anyway its way too casual without too much depth compared to poe 2
let me show you something. the views on the diablo 4 gameplay have arrived 5.5 milions. Poe 2 is to 2 milion. you understand for yourself what people are looking for on the web right now. diablo 4 is not a diablo 3 2.0. starting from the skill tree and mmo elements. your analysis is based on marketing speculation
Path of Exile has always been a decent game. But in my opinion it only ever did as well as it did because first, it held people over until D3, and then when D3 disappointed everyone they went back to PoE. Once D4 comes out it'll destroy the PoE 1 & 2 player base since it'll have everything D3 didn't have. They better release PoE 2 ASAP before D4.

Do you work for the company who developed PoE? Sure sounds like you do. lol. You didn't really give any facts as to why early D4 will suck. D4 will have a lot of things D3 never had from the start. Trading, pvp, improved crafting, open world ect.
Im sure that D4 has a big team behind it right now, but saying that the last 15% of the companies devs are working on WoW Classic, WoW BFA, WoW Shadowlands, WoW next expansion, D3, Overwatch (2), Hearthstone, hots + other unannounced projects is kinda ridiculous
So no, I dont think that true or accurate at all.
I also don't beleive that D4 is the only thing that can save Blizzard from certain doom - I don't beleive that Blizzard is in that kind of trouble at all
Where are you getting this info from (biggest dev team, rumored release schedule etc) - I would love to see it
Blizzard is a multi billion dollar company owned by a much bigger conglomerate, one game is never in danger of ruining anything for them lol. and D3 did pretty good, D4 will hit some insane sales numbers im betting though.
They are all-in with Diablo 4. Right now more than 85% of their programmers work on that title. If Diablo 4 fails there will be no more Blizzard as we know it. This means two things:
- Their development on the game goes with great speed
- They'll try to release D4 as fast as possible to make up for lost profits from other games and failed projects
And Covid-19 while slowing down their development would increase their sales.
We are getting the D4 BETA after next Blizzcon for sure.
76,78% of all statistics are made up on the spot
While it may be made up, its also kinda true. D4 development team has more programmers than the other teams. :P. It's only because its the furthest behind and they haven't finished programming all the back-end stuff. But i still think a 2021 release is possible, a lot of negative nancy's in the comments though. xD. The rumored release schedule has the game going into Alpha sometime after this blizzcon. Lets cross our fingers and hope it happens. I also want to reiterate that i dont think blizz wouldve announced D4 at all if they weren't positive they could have it released in 2-3 years tops. Since D3 got such intense backlash after coming out 4 whole years from announcement.
Made up or not, the important is how accurate they are lol. D4 Beta is coming, there will be a storm after the silence.
I want the forums to fill back up like before D3's release. Helps feel better by talking about it more. But everyone is too depressed from last waiting period that no one wants to hang in the forums to chat about it :(. i remember everyone rage quitting after blizz delayed D3 for the 4th time. Hoping they give a release window in November or the game just goes into Alpha soon after so everyone comes back.
They haven't even revealed the last 2 classes. no way do we get this in 2021 at this rate.
The final 2 classes are the paladin and amazon. And just because they simply didn't reveal the final class gameplay doesn't mean they aren't finished. It's more likely they kept them a secret for this new "quarterly developers update" thing that they started. We saw the other classes in full action using skills, talents and all their game play. I'm betting the last 2 classes have been done and they are just waiting for one of these quarterly updates to reveal them. We'll probably see another class or both at the Dev update in a couple weeks. Q4 2021 is also over a year and a half away still.
I think we do need to know the endgame systems way before launch - asap imo, so we can provide feedback. Worst case senario (imo) is only 1 endgame system, like we have in D3 - thats what makes every season dull for me after about 2 weeks.
With D3 beta we did only get up to skeleton king in act 1 yes - that was to protect the story - mind you, advendture mode didn't come with launch - I would think (hope) they have learned from this come D4.
I expect a beta, detached from story mode, so we can propperly test systems, skills, modifiers etc.
In many ways, I hope Blizzard is taking some insperation from PoE - I dont mean to make every aspect of the game overly complicated, but there is alot to do in PoE, and that is (imo) the biggest downside of current D3.
Yea PoE is way too complicated, and D3 is too simple. So a nice balance between the two sounds perfect to me. And im not sure what endgame they could possibly make to keep you coming back for more than 2 weeks every season. I'm not a huge fan of Grifting but idk what else would be a better fit. PVP will be fun for endgame for me.
I guess I am really waiting for endgame systems, the last 2 classes, indepth talents, skills, modifiers etc.
As I said, I hope you are right :-), it's pretty much the only game I am waiting for, nothing else seems to be able the scratch that itch, besides the 2-3 weeks of every season in d3.
Well i dont think we need to know endgame systems until its in Beta. With D3 we only ever got to play the first act even in the Beta so who knows. might not know exact endgame details until launch.
I feel your pain, but ive been trying to find other games as well and so far ive found Torch light 2 isnt that bad. super cartoony though. Torch light 3 is supposed to launch this year too. And then possible games coming out before D4: New World, Baldur's Gate 3, Lost Ark, Path of Exile 2. those could all release sometime beginning next year.
Im pretty sure diablo 4 is already done. the file was 30 Gig already from a site i saw, and i know how blizzard do their thing, diablo immortal has been done for a year and they still havent released it its the same with d4... they will tell you that they are changing stuffs and etc but the game is already fnished basically and people think its not lol... absolute sheep i guess idk
I'd like to believe this is true-ish. The game is probably mostly done and they are waiting to also see how the market is turning out due to COVID-19. Perhaps at the online version of Blizzcon this year they will give us a possible D4 release window.
They have in no way given us a "shit ton" of info. They have shown us a very very basic talent tree, a few rune combos and introduced some new afixes.
We have gotten 1 quarterly update so far that was about monster families.
I hope you are right that we will all be playing d4 in 2021, I just don't think it's going to happen.
I am really looking forward to the next update and hope it is about actual game systems and or endgame.
They've given us tons of gameplay footage, extensive info on how the new talent system will work and look, most of the new features and even item affixes. What info exactly are you looking for? Because short of giving us a literal list of every item/affix/skill/boss in the game, they've given us 80% or more of everything were going to see at launch. PVP, open world, gameplay, 3/5 classes, talent trees, affix items, monster families. they've given us all of that and will probably drop a bunch more in a couple weeks.
And them giving us every tiny detail about the gameplay isn't the end-all be-all indicator of wither the game will be released sooner or later. But If anything, the amount of info they've given us indicates a sooner release, not a later one. If there's a delay, they'll mention it at the develop update at the end of this month, otherwise stay positive my friend. The company doesn't have a great track record, but i have a good feeling about D4's development team. Perhaps you're right and a more realistic date is around Q2-3 of 2022. with 2023 being absolute worst case scenario if lots of sh*t goes wrong like with D3's development.
In my opinion, Blizzard will not rush D4, A lot is at stake, basically, the entire future of the franchise, sure there will always be fans of the games, but if Blizz wants long term (shows, movies ect.) they need this to succeed.
Of course, and they aren't rushing it. They've been developing D4 for quite awhile now. I'm predicting that if there aren't any major problems from now until release, it'll definitely come out Q4 2021 or soon after. They don't have to worry about people liking D4, everyone already does with the new changes i listed. They only really have to worry about major bugs at this point.
IMHO - 2022 or 2023.
People already likes D4? We know pretty much nothing about the game - we have an awesome trailer, a very little ingame video, but other than that, we more or less know nothing, no systems have been revealed, no endgame (apart from d4 mythic+ very loosly explained).
I think the game is quite faraway at this point and I think (hope) blizz is taking their time with this one.
Huh? where have you been? They played an in-depth demo last year and have given us a sh*t ton of info on the new skill and talent system as well as the new features including an open world and pvp. And they have been giving us quarterly updates on the game with another big update about to drop end of this month. So the game is definitely set to release sooner than 2023 without a doubt. They have taken their time and they have made a great game, lol. Here => https://diablo4.blizzard.com/en-us/news
In times like these I expect almost all games from any company in the world will be delayed. Especially a game that is not expected to release any time soon.
Maybe for some companies. Delaying billions in revenue isnt in the best interest of any company, especially one with workers who do all their work digitally, programmers can easily communicate and have meetings digitally as well. With a huge company there's less chance of them greatly shifting any timelines because they've already suffered losses because of COVID-19. And its a chinese owned company. lol

And there was a few different leaks that all had around ~80% accurate info, most of it being completely right, some of it being kinda wrong and then a couple things that were totally wrong. i found one of them: https://www.reddit.com/r/Diablo/comments/c8waxp/diablo_iv_release_window_details_and_more_leak/ . They were all posted over 7-11 months ago.
