After reading the new quartly update I think we "might" see an alpha end of next year?
And a beta a year later. So my feelings/guesses tells me it will take 2\3 years before we see a public beta or release.
Especially when they said "not soon, not even blizzard soon" at the last Blizzcon.
The reason why im guessing it will take 2\3 years is because in the post you can read that they only finished like 1 zone\act? Let alone all the other maps, mobs, items etc etc.
You said this same thing in both threads and it clearly shows you didnt read the OP. haha. its in the first paragraph. Them saying that means nothing. They also mention multiple times how what theyve shown the pulic isnt close to what they have finished.
Dude, again, just because you wrote it in the OP does not make it the truth in anyway. You saying that it means nothing, does not mean that it means nothing. You cannot have a discussion about this if you keep claiming your own ideas to be the absolut truth - thats not how this works.
Again, I'll have to say, just because you belive it to be like this (classes are done etc), does not make it true. The only truth is that we don't know. Maybe you are right, I personally don't think so - but I think we have established that :-D
Crappy gameplay? If there is one thing most agree on when it comes to d3 it's that the gameplay is awesome, it's pretty much everything else that a lot of people have a problem with.
80% of what we will see a launch? What, how, why...?
The demo was set a level 20, not starter zone for starters.
Yes, we are still missing 40% of the classes, the talent system was anything but done, same goes for skills.
They haven't talked about endgame systems yet, which will be the big one.
I really can't wrap my head around how you could possibly think that everything is done by now, and add to that blizzard keep telling everyone that the game is in a very early stage.
I am not trying to put you down or be negative about the game. I am trying to be realistic about it.
Saying that it will release soon and blow everything away based on nothing but own expectations does not make it true. Hell, maybe poe 2 will completely destroy Diablo 4 is every aspect - we just don't know yet.
I think there is room and a fan base for both games. A lot of hardcore poe players will never be satisfied with Diablo and vice versa.
For me, there are just too many systems in poe, crafting is (for me) a nightmare and I can't even start to understand stats and gear, having said that, I have spent a lot of hours in poe and had fun, but it will never be my go to game.
Im sure that D4 has a big team behind it right now, but saying that the last 15% of the companies devs are working on WoW Classic, WoW BFA, WoW Shadowlands, WoW next expansion, D3, Overwatch (2), Hearthstone, hots + other unannounced projects is kinda ridiculous
So no, I dont think that true or accurate at all.
I also don't beleive that D4 is the only thing that can save Blizzard from certain doom - I don't beleive that Blizzard is in that kind of trouble at all
Where are you getting this info from (biggest dev team, rumored release schedule etc) - I would love to see it
They are all-in with Diablo 4. Right now more than 85% of their programmers work on that title. If Diablo 4 fails there will be no more Blizzard as we know it. This means two things:
- Their development on the game goes with great speed
- They'll try to release D4 as fast as possible to make up for lost profits from other games and failed projects
And Covid-19 while slowing down their development would increase their sales.
We are getting the D4 BETA after next Blizzcon for sure.
I think we do need to know the endgame systems way before launch - asap imo, so we can provide feedback. Worst case senario (imo) is only 1 endgame system, like we have in D3 - thats what makes every season dull for me after about 2 weeks.
With D3 beta we did only get up to skeleton king in act 1 yes - that was to protect the story - mind you, advendture mode didn't come with launch - I would think (hope) they have learned from this come D4.
I expect a beta, detached from story mode, so we can propperly test systems, skills, modifiers etc.
In many ways, I hope Blizzard is taking some insperation from PoE - I dont mean to make every aspect of the game overly complicated, but there is alot to do in PoE, and that is (imo) the biggest downside of current D3.
They have in no way given us a "shit ton" of info. They have shown us a very very basic talent tree, a few rune combos and introduced some new afixes.
We have gotten 1 quarterly update so far that was about monster families.
I hope you are right that we will all be playing d4 in 2021, I just don't think it's going to happen.
I am really looking forward to the next update and hope it is about actual game systems and or endgame.
They've given us tons of gameplay footage, extensive info on how the new talent system will work and look, most of the new features and even item affixes. What info exactly are you looking for? Because short of giving us a literal list of every item/affix/skill/boss in the game, they've given us 80% or more of everything were going to see at launch. PVP, open world, gameplay, 3/5 classes, talent trees, affix items, monster families. they've given us all of that and will probably drop a bunch more in a couple weeks.
And them giving us every tiny detail about the gameplay isn't the end-all be-all indicator of wither the game will be released sooner or later. But If anything, the amount of info they've given us indicates a sooner release, not a later one. If there's a delay, they'll mention it at the develop update at the end of this month, otherwise stay positive my friend. The company doesn't have a great track record, but i have a good feeling about D4's development team. Perhaps you're right and a more realistic date is around Q2-3 of 2022. with 2023 being absolute worst case scenario if lots of sh*t goes wrong like with D3's development.
I guess I am really waiting for endgame systems, the last 2 classes, indepth talents, skills, modifiers etc.
As I said, I hope you are right :-), it's pretty much the only game I am waiting for, nothing else seems to be able the scratch that itch, besides the 2-3 weeks of every season in d3.
In my opinion, Blizzard will not rush D4, A lot is at stake, basically, the entire future of the franchise, sure there will always be fans of the games, but if Blizz wants long term (shows, movies ect.) they need this to succeed.
Of course, and they aren't rushing it. They've been developing D4 for quite awhile now. I'm predicting that if there aren't any major problems from now until release, it'll definitely come out Q4 2021 or soon after. They don't have to worry about people liking D4, everyone already does with the new changes i listed. They only really have to worry about major bugs at this point.
IMHO - 2022 or 2023.
People already likes D4? We know pretty much nothing about the game - we have an awesome trailer, a very little ingame video, but other than that, we more or less know nothing, no systems have been revealed, no endgame (apart from d4 mythic+ very loosly explained).
I think the game is quite faraway at this point and I think (hope) blizz is taking their time with this one.

I do expect to operate like a company (I never stated otherwise), in fact I wish more people would realize this.
I do however not think it is illogical to take their word for it when they say the game is a looong time away.
I personally don't think it is unreasonable to announce a game 3 prior to release, especially if you are blizzard.
If anything, this would mean that they are going back to their old standard of it's s ready when it's ready - and that would be awesome!

76,78% of all statistics are made up on the spot
