oh, for those interested I forgot that twitter emails notifications when you get tweeted at, so I have the Bashiok tweet even though he deleted it:
Bashiok Bashiok @DAT_GRASS Haha. You're clearly incorrect due to the responses in the thread you linked to not agreeing unanimously. But thanks! Mar 12, 2:47 PM via web
now i don't follow wow news too much and someone correct me if i'm wrong but i seem to remeber reading somewhere that cata's release date was annouced something like 17 days before release? so we can still hope for a april release?
A quick google search shows it was a couple days over two months.
So do you guys still think early 2012 is going to happen (April)
I think Q2 release will still happen, but I really doubt an april release. Today was really the last announcement opportunity that could have ended with an april release (unless they do something pretty unconventional).
early to mid may for a release is my current guess/hope. It could easily be in June at this rate though. Can you imagine if it's june and they strung people along for 6 months? lmao
wtf. dont be retards people. just because it wasnt announced today doesnt mean SHIT for delaying the release date. because they are obvioulsy not going to take the 8 weeks between announcement and release. id be very surprised if they took even 4 weeks. it will be announced soon and come out in april for sure.
Totally agree. This game is shipping out folks. Release is imminent.
Glad is right, it's not getting delayed again. You can't say "we need to cut this feature since it wont be ready for release" if you don't already have a hard date set for that release.
However that fact compounds my frustration- knowing that they have set a hard release day, but they refuse to just up and release it, and would rather continue to taunt and tease the fanbase.
It ends @ 3pm so the higher ups can go swimming in their pools filled with the 600 fired employees salaries.
In other news, we dont have enough man power to finish PVP!
Thanks for the info, but only a few of the fired employees were actually developers. I dont think people from facility management could develop pvp mode.
it ends at 6 pm pst, 9 pm pst
however, a lot of them stay overtime, such as devs and CMs to 8 and 9 pm pst as of late
(at least posting wise, im sure some even later)
you said PST twice. I assume you meant to say 6pm pst, 9pm EST.
In any case, the press release wont come at the end of a day in most probability. Any day it isn't out by noon PST will prob not be the day.

He deleted it when I tweeted back again in response: @Bashiok If unanimous can't mean mass majority, then imminent can't mean "some time in the future". I won't be buying #diablo3. GJ Blizz.
He probably deleted it because you are talking bullshit. Neither do you know if the "mass majority" thinks it is a PR failure, just because a handful of people agreed with you while the same amount disagreed and 500 people watched and didnt say a thing at all, nor does that PR thing have anything to do with 9/10. Additionally, nobody said anything about imminent because 10/10 would have been imminent.
And not to forget, you will buy D3. Otherwise you wouldnt still be here. You just cant control your impatience and must tell others you wont buy it for that reason.
He probably deleted because PR told him too, because it was idiotic to respond to in the first place. I have no reservations about continuing to harass bashiok and jay wilson over how poorly they have handled the release, their refusal to comment on battle.net 2.0 and how d3 has less social features than d2 did, and generally how they've baited and teased the fanbase just so they could illegitimately hype the game. In all probability they have to redo media and PR training at activision when this is over.
And I didn't think you could delete tweets? Or am I behind the times?
You can delete tweets
I tweeted: @Bashiok community at diablofans agree unanimously that #diablo 3 PR has been a complete and total failure bit.ly/zYd249
He tweeted back something along the lines of "Clearly it's not unanamious since some people disagree, but thanks anyway :)".

meh, you only have yourself s to blame for you frustrations. stop getting your hopes up. look forward to the game, hope it comes out soon. but dont be all upset when it doesnt come out when you think it should. regardless of what any of you say, the game will sell MILLIONS of copies. and very fast, and will most likely have a lot of people playing it for a long time. in 5 years people would read a thread like this and laugh at us.
calm down, go have a smoke or whatever you choose to do to relax, and stop flaming Blizzard corp or employees for your inability to separate fantasy (when you think it comes out) from reality (when it will actually come out).
but meh, nobody is going to actually listen to any suggestions anyone posts here. thats the nature of the internet i guess....
sooo... rant on my web brothers, rant on.
Except that legitimate damage is being done to their brand image and community relations. It has nothing to do with copies that will be sold, legit damage is being done right now and if you dont realize that then you are completely ignorant of marketing and PR as departments of business in general.
Damage would be done, no matter how fast they will throw out the game.
The peoples complaining on the internet, about how slow they are, is around 5% of the players who is going to play the game. The rest almost don't care, and can actually wait for the game to be released in silence.
Just because you see alot of peoples talk about it, doesn't mean it is everybody. You gotta remember lot of players don't even go to forums to complain.

I would have no problem at all if the game was released in 1, 2 or 6 months. Whats bothering me is how Jay is saying "in the coming weeks" "sign of release" "counting down the days untill release date annoucement"
Still, we gets nothing at all.
If Jay just shut the fuck up and released the game in 4 months, I would be happy.
^ This
I don’t ever post rage, nor do I involve myself in these discussions but I have to defend some of the people on the negative:
Most of the resentment stems from the trail of sour cookie crumbs being dropped by Jay and the people following the game closely are being forced to pick up and ingest,
Everything he says has allusion, and it makes a lot of the community impatient.
Change the game, delay the game, its yours to do so with as you wish, But don’t freaking lead people on with “Coming weeks” and Very soon” and “9 out of 10”…
Don’t preach to me your standards of quality, the reasons why your superior methods insure us the consumer a greater product by delaying the game and then cut pvp out of the game so you can release it!!! Don’t tell me the years of hard work making it and then cutting Death throw animations, not having the Monks combat animations complete to name a few.
Don’t say anything about release, reveal your changes keep us informed but don’t prat-on about releases until you know for a fact the release date..
And don’t shove sweet warm fancies under people’s noses only to snatch them away like a greedy little fat kid with so much cake.
This is why most people are raging.. You’ll have others that are just idiotic trolls but in general, I think these are fair reasons to be upset.
Excellent post. This guy understands.
If you don't feel mislead, or that blizz can do no wrong, then thats great and more power to you. But if you can't even understand why some people are reacting the way they are then you must be denser than lead.
Looking forward to the game and it’s probably going to be great, but Blizzard are handling the situation very poorly. People get frustrated because they are making obviously cryptic statements that can be misinterpreted, along with iffy time windows like: soon, days, weeks, when that’s obviously not the case. But you know what? I’ll be 50 in a few days, everyone’s invited ~ 11600 to go.
Thats not something they can fix. people can misinterpret everything. Thats the problem of the person, not the company.
You think PR cant fix that? What do you even think PR does? You really think PUBLIC RELATIONS doesnt know how to constructively interact with people? PR doesn't know how people will react? PR can't handle how people will react?
wow man Im starting to think you don't even know what PR means

exactly. then think of the fact that of those small percent of people who are complaining about it now. even fewer will continue to complain once they are busy fighting hells minions in the game. and an even smaller, i would dare say minuscule amount, are going to never buy the game because of the fallacies they perceive right now. I would challenge you to show me any actual monetary, professional, or otherwise measurable "damage" being done to the company. The majority of the complaints right now are revolving around the release date. Any "damage" done by this will be all but erased once the game is out. There is no community or brand name damage happening, as you seem to believe, because as soon as the game comes out all that goes away to be replaced by more realistic complaints (aka game bugs). Any damage you perceive right now is not actually significant in the grand scheme of things. (note i said "that you can perceive", as there may be real game design damage, or game management damage being done in the background, but none of us will be able to see any that until after the game comes out. and going off of Blizzards track record, I would say this isnt likely.) but as i said, rant on brother. you are entitled to your own belief of what is happening. please just keep in mind what you believe will not effect reality. Im just trying to help you all calm down and get on with your lives. (think of it this way. with all the time we are ALL going to waste once the game comes out, I would think the precious few days we have left should be spent productively. Heck, go get some overtime at work, you will need the money when you take 3 weeks off to do "just one last mission".)
The fact that you dont think these damages are measurable (including ways that arent just # of copies sold), or that they are happenening at all just shows a level of ignorance to what PR and marketing are. Activision spends 100s of millions of dollars on marketing and PR, and how the 5% of people who give feedback online react to said PR is VERY important to them. You don't work in the industry or PR or marketing, so I understand that you dont get it. I suggest you do a little research into these fields before you walk around asserting that no one's reactions to how they are handling this matters at all, because it very much does.

Cataclysm release date set for December 7
by Alex Ziebart Oct 4th 2010 at 9:50AM"
Thats from WoWinsider, who were/are a pretty reputable and closely followed source for WoW news (I havent played wow in over a year though now).
I think Q2 release will still happen, but I really doubt an april release. Today was really the last announcement opportunity that could have ended with an april release (unless they do something pretty unconventional).
